Il Terrazzo Carmine
Il Terrazzo Carmine is located in historic Pioneer Square - nestled in an urban-renewed alley with entrances through the vintage lobby on First Avenue or through the delightful courtyard in the back. Since 1984, Carmine Smeraldo's classic Italian restaurant has been where the locals have chosen to return over and over again. From the Carpaccio Di Bue and Spaghettini Dell 'Ortolano for lunch to the Suprema Di Pollo Farcita and Zuppa Di Pesce for dinner you will know you have gone to a place where excellence is a way of life. Arguably the best Italian restaurant in Seattle, Il Terrazzo serves classical Italian cuisine with an atmosphere you may want to call home and never leave

The only difficulty of the entire night was finding the place. There is no exterior building confirmation of the address. There is no signage that announces Il Terrazo and the entrance is inside a lobby with a very small plaque that identifies the restaurant. While we were looking on the street we met 3 other couples looking for the same place and grousing about the absence of signage or directions. It is a area of downtown that has recently had some bad press, loitering and wandering the street looking for the entrance was uncomfortable. a sign would be a great help.
We had a lovely time. Very romantic setting, excellent food and service. It made for a very special anniversary dinner.
Overall we had a wonderful time. The service was great. The atmosphere was welcoming. Our appetizers were very good. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is a couple of our main courses were good but not great. My wife ordered the Osso Buco. The taste was there but it wasn't as tender as it could be. I ordered a veal chop. Again the flavor was there but it was a little overcooked.
If you are looking for a classic Italian restaurant I would still recommend Il Terrazzo Carmin.
The food and service were exellent. The ambiance was lively.
We received a gift card from a friend who is a chef. We always trust his judgement and he was right again! The restaurant was warm and inviting and the service was attentive and not at all overbearing. We enjoyed the food and wine selection. It is expensive, but very high quality dining!
Out waiter was great. He anticipated our needs before we needed to ask and also paid attention to our time constraint. We were so caught up in our company and sinner! We will be back!
We started with the calamari appetizer which was fresh, light and very good. I had the Capellini Di Mare which had plenty of seafood, however the shrimp in it was overcooked and rubbery. My husband had the Osso Bucco which he very much enjoyed. The service was impeccable. While they have an excellent wine list, the wine was ridiculously overpriced. Enjoyed the evening but probably won’t return because while good, the quality didn’t justify the price.
The calamari tasted precooked rinsed and added to sauce. Unsalted and watery.
Cesaer salad good and
Pennette with salmon was marvelous and al dente.
Ricardo was cool
Always fabulous food! Prices high for lunch. Service good and ambiance wonderful!
We love this restaurant, we’ve only been one time before but both times it’s been a special experience with delicious food.
Fabulous food in great ambience and outstanding service - professional and friendly
Always consistently good on all fronts; food, service and atmosphere.
Outstanding restaurant! Hope to dine here again, soon!
Beautiful restaurant. The food and service were both off. Wrong salad came out, fish was undercooked, dessert tasted store bought.
Like eating In Milan.
Great food but far too noisy - woman at next table just shouted all evening, we couldn’t even talk to each other as we couldn’t hear!!
Always a stop when we are in town. Food is amazing friendly wait staff and great wine selection.
The food was lovely but our favorite part was the service. Our waiter was very attentive personable and kind. We would go back just because of him!
Always appreciate the attention to detail in their food and service. Bravo!
Excellent food and service
Always the best seafood in town, not just the best pasta.
Lovely restaurant for special occasions; service is non-pretentious and welcoming, food is imaginative, ambiance is charming and relaxing!
Classy and classic Italian food, elegant atmosphere. Expensive overall except for a quite reasonable pasta menu.
Really a great restaurant. Subtle, classy decor, great service, interesting menu and high quality food. We ordered caesar salad and caprese salad. The caesar was cold and crisp with real anchovies in the dressing. The anchovies on top had been rinsed and were not too salty. The caprese was excellene - fresh basil and outstanding bufala mozzarella. The two pastas were served HOT. The gnocchi were some of the best I've ever had - super light and fluffy. The crab and shrimp ravioli in lobster sauce was decadent, with fresh crab and a rich flavor. Highly recommended!
Great service. Requested a quieter table and request was honored. Waiter was excellent and food was wonderful. Sad the Ahi was not on menu as appetizer, but the raw oysters were quite delicious. Dessert also quite enjoyable. Overall restaurant has fairly high ambient noise level, but still quiet enough for good conversation.
Great birthday dinner!
Beautiful setting. Everything was exceptional. We were greeted graciously and seated immediately. Service was stellar. Food was scrumptious. Cesar salad was delicious and the Pasta Fagioli was excellent. Halibut on corn was cooked perfectly. The gnocchi was tender and delicious.
One of the best restaurants in Seattle! Gnocchi is amazing!
Ryan was fantastic!! Food and ambience was exceptional.
We enjoyed our dinner and service. I should have decided to order the smaller portion of my pasta dish to have room for your great looking desserts. Know better next time.
Lovely restaurant! So glad we chose to celebrate our anniversary here! 10/10 would make a future reservation.
The greater us with best wishes for our Anniversary and a little sign on our table. The food was superb and the service was prompt and happy to service us. We will be back.
My "go to" restaurant for delicious food and top service. Have hosted large and small parties there and always been pleased.
One of my favorite restaurants in Seattle!
Great food and service
Fish was over cooked. They removed it from the bill. Calamari was rubbery. Food was just off this day.
My birthday dinner here from start to finish was exceptional. We were greeted and seated promptly, and at my seat was a little Happy Birthday sign. We were given bread (rustic Italian, delicious) and water immediately, and our server greeted us shortly after.
We shared the Bruschetta con Granchia (crab bruschetta) which was perfection. The crab was fresh and delicious and the toasted bread slices were crispy and had a nice flavor. We both got the grilled King salmon, in season at the time of our visit. It was perfectly cooked, medium-rare, and served with an asparagus risotto. The risotto was the only thing that wasn't perfect. It was rather bland and not seasoned at all; the addition of a bit of salt and some pepper helped tremendously. (Hi, Chef, it needs to be made with olive oil and butter, and wine and bone broth for the liquids.)
For dessert, the restaurant brought me a complimentary slice of tiramisu with a birthday candle. The tiramisu was one of the best I've ever had, with strong espresso and mascarpone flavors. The perfect end to the meal.
Service was excellent throughout the meal. I was impressed that on a Monday night every table was taken. Popular place, and for many good reasons.
World class food and service! As always! Never disappointed!
Excellent all around - as always!
Everything was just perfect, from the crusty but chewy bread, to the pasta made in-house, to the sauce, to the tiramisu. We felt like we were being fed by an Italian grandmother. Extraordinary experience.
