Il Terrazzo Carmine
Il Terrazzo Carmine is located in historic Pioneer Square - nestled in an urban-renewed alley with entrances through the vintage lobby on First Avenue or through the delightful courtyard in the back. Since 1984, Carmine Smeraldo's classic Italian restaurant has been where the locals have chosen to return over and over again. From the Carpaccio Di Bue and Spaghettini Dell 'Ortolano for lunch to the Suprema Di Pollo Farcita and Zuppa Di Pesce for dinner you will know you have gone to a place where excellence is a way of life. Arguably the best Italian restaurant in Seattle, Il Terrazzo serves classical Italian cuisine with an atmosphere you may want to call home and never leave

Excellent all around - as always!
Everything was just perfect, from the crusty but chewy bread, to the pasta made in-house, to the sauce, to the tiramisu. We felt like we were being fed by an Italian grandmother. Extraordinary experience.
The atmosphere was great and every bite tasted just right! Would definitely go back.
Every aspect of our experience here was truly delightful. They went out of their way to make the evening (our anniversary) feel extra special. We will most definitely be back.
Best restaurant we went to in Seattle. Sommelier was especially helpful picking an exceptional wine for our meal. Waiter was amazing, food was wonderful. Highly recommend.
It was a good experience overall. Beautiful patio/restaurant. Really good food. Service was a little bit slow. Little overpriced.
Excellent food and service from Christina. Recommended by Tom Corbin.
Really enjoyed the food, quality of service and attention was really great
Amazing food and incredible service every time we visit (at least 2-3 times a year). Always show up early for a pre dinner tipple at Intermezzo.
Superlatives all over the place!**
Service was excellent and attentive. Our water was always topped off by either our waitstaff, bussers or the front desk host. Food was delicious and good portion-size.
Il Terrazzo Carmine has been my favorite Seattle restaurant for over 20 years! My friends from Alabama loved it.
Always great. A restaurant you can always count on to provide a great evening. We have been there many many times , often for special occasions and are never disappointed.
Terrific as always!
Quintessential Seattle restaurant that remembers what it takes to continually bring customers back time and again.
Went to dinner with a few work colleagues. Excellent food, good service. Carmine’s never disappoints. It’s always consistent.
All of the staff at Il Terrazzo Carmine are charming and friendly. Our server, Joe, was a perfect host and his timing was incredible. Thank you for arranging for a Birthday cake for our daughter, best birthday yet!
Amazing food. Great service. Never leave you wanting for anything!
We enjoyed this restaurant somewhat but felt that we should have been told by our server to share the prime steak main course. We ended up with too much food and wasted half of the $50 main dish.. Also, I love very spicy but the heat on the pepper steak was overwhelming. Also, I would have preferred the steak not butterflied so that it would retain juices.
We were one of the last parties of the evening and felt ignored at the end.
After many visits over many years Carmine’s remains among the best Italian restaurants I’ve had the pleasure to visit.
No detail, no matter how small, is overlooked.
A visit to Carmine’s is a dining experience to savor and remember.
High on pretentiousness, low on taste of food. So, if you want to pay for mediocre food getting served on your plate individually, this is the place for you.
As always, outstanding
As always, the service, ambiance and food was excellent. I’ve been a customer for over 30 years and Il Terrazzo never disappoints.
Carmines is such a great old Seattle restaurant, it never disappoints! Wonderful selection of pastas and mains. The venison ravioli is outstanding as well as the pork chop and the lamp chops, all favorites of ours. The wait staff is attentive but not hovering. The wine list is extensive with lots of opportunities to try some wonderful Italian wines as well as local offerings. The newly completed remodel with the outdoor patio now enclosed is a wonderful addition. This is a perfect place for a special occasion or a nice meal before a sporting or musical event in the area.
Every course we had was fantastic and we wouldn't have changed a thing.
Sophisticated atmosphere and not so noisy. We went there to celebrate the completion of the tough project but it was perfect place for business conversation. Although the I felt the high-class atmosphere, we also had an option to choose affordable meals as well. Definitely come back again!!
Fabulous food and service....beautiful patio to enjoy the weather.
Eggplant parmigiana was delicious
Fettucini Alfredo was excellent .....was not listed on menu but made anyway. Pretty and quiet restaurant that we really enjoyed !!
Date with wife for lunch
Very nice restaurant! great food, great staff, huge wine selection, and great ambiance. highly recommended
There is never a disappointment when dining at Carmines.. a 5 star event in all categories.
Thank you for special attention and extras for our 80th birthday girl!
Always positively amazing. The space is lovely and the service is perfect.
Fantastic atmosphere and delicious food
This was just my 2nd visit, the first for lunch. As we were being seated I asked our guide if we could have the same table as we did for dinner, Table #23. It was available, and he assured us that will be our table from now on. Now that's class, and that's service. The food was unbelievably good ( as it was on our first visit) and the atmosphere was perfect.
It was our first time trying this restaurant. We were dining before a concert down the street as were many so I assume that’s why the noise level may have been louder than normal. The look of the restaurant is beautiful - I absolutely loved it!! The service was fabulous as well!! Our waiter was very professional, very personable and she was very attentive. The only thing that was not as expected was the food. I had the fish of the day - the halibut - and it seemed to be lacking in flavor. My husband had the Osso Buco - one of his favorite meals - and he thought it was just ok.
We will try the restaurant again sometime on a less busy evening to give it another chance.
We attended a 7:30 PM event nearby so made reservations for right when the restaurant opened at 5 PM. They seated us fairly promptly but that was the last thing to go well. Our waiter was surly, did not review the daily specials for us as we heard another waiter do later for a table next to us, and then asked for drink orders without giving us a cocktail menu or wine list, which we had to ask for twice. It took over an hour for our salads & appetizers to appear, and by 6:45 we had to signal a manager and complain that we were still awaiting our entrees. We had previously asked the waiter for an explanation and that we had a 7:30 event, but never received an answer. We were eventually served by 7 and the manager graciously offered to comp dessert for the table, but by now we had to rush to finish our food and what was supposed to be a special occasion dinner was a complete failure. I had many meals at Il Terrazzo back when Carmine ran the store, and it was always a wonderful evening. Sadly, those days are long gone.
Have been going to Il Terrazzo for years. Execution at all levels never ceases to impress. Food and service is always great. I personally prefer the bar over the dining room. You can’t go wrong going to Il Terrazzo.
