When we arrived at the restaurant on Oct. 3rd, it was closed and dark. There was a notice on the door that it had been closed by the Marshall and was in possession of the landlord. An employee was there and he said that they failed to pay their rent!!
This is NOT a fine Italian restaurant. There are several top notch ones near Il Riccio. What I like about this place is that the service is respectable and polite, depending on what you order the food very-good to good. Wine selection is also good. We've only been there for lunch and I will go back. I may even try dinner one evening......but not sure at this time.
A wonderful site for an authentic Italian meal. A wide variety of fresh and delicious dishes and outstanding daily specials. I limited but delicious wine list. The service is professional, cordial and friendly. It was obvious there were many 'repeat customers'! We will definitely return!
always dependable for high quality and elegant meals served with warmth. The team is very focused on creating a comfortable yet sophisticated dining experience.
Love this neighborhood restaurant.
The food is delicious. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The waiters will do anything to make your experience better.
First time there since change of ownership.
Ambiance is very sterile-white walls, little decoration. Not very Italian
Service was OK but not very attentive.
Manager was excellent and probably the only saving grace.
Food was fair at best. Fish was tasteless, smelled "fishy" even though it was the special which usually means fresh. Bread was bland and not very "Italian"
Wine - a Chianti Classico - was overpriced and not very good.
Very disappointed as it is in my neighborhood.
Wednesday lunch was brilliant. That we will be there tonite, says it all.
Love this place!
Our first time here. Celebrated our daughter's birthday. Food/service excellent. Did not rush us.
Will gladly return.
Mediocre neighborhood Italian
Restaurant is not welcoming, does not have an upbeat vibe. Food OK but nothing special.
Food is great. Ambience is well done with nice table distance and setting. The service is a little “abrupt” in this particular servers manners. But overall good food and setting is well done.
My husband and I were in town for the weekend and wanted a good Italian dinner. We were seated in the back dining room under the skylight and treated to excellent service. The decor was dated, but the food and ambiance were good. Hailing from the Amalfi Coast, the owner greeted and seated all of the guests. We had a lovely time!
Food was excellent. Service was only fair
Food and service were so good that I ate here both Thurs and Fri evenings
Lovely neighborhood Italian restaurant. Great food and service!
Great local restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was great. We brought our 10 month old son and they were very accommodative. They were also great with food allergies.
Great neighborhood restaurant. Unassuming. Comfortable. High quality food. Excellent service. Reasonably priced. Amalfi Coast decor and feel. A touch of the Italian Riviera on Upper East Side.
DISAPPOINTING... In what world does an Italian restaurant serve the primi and secondi together? When we objected they only served the pasta and then brought us out our second course cold. Non-Italians and UESiders may not know the difference, but for true Italians it's just not done. While the food continues to be delicious the service is just too sloppy and inattentive for those prices.
Delicious food. Very fresh. Great service. Immaculate
Just like the reviews said great neighborhood spot. Food and service were excellent! Amalfi coast meets NYC...
Absolutely delicious food...the flavors brought me right back to the Amalfi coast. Lovely spot with friendly, attentive staff.
Average Italian food at higher end prices.
The service was the worst i have ever had in any restaurant! I will not be going back
Our favorite neighborhood place. Consistently fabulous food and gracious service.
Every dish is a wonder!
My birthday dinner was excellent.
Service is attentive but not intrusive
Food is delicious, plated nicely
My dessert was a delicious chocolate cake and the waiters sang happy Birthday
Nice and quiet place you could have a nice conversation, and the food is good
Perfect food and service. A more imaginative wine list would be nice, but that's a minor quibble.
The soft shell crab was expensive but excellent
Nice neighborhood restaurant. No frills but good food. Service a bit slow.
Great neighborhood spot where the food, service and quality are great, and they don't ding you either on the cost of the food or the wine. I would definitely go back.
Treated as if we were guests their home. A lovely experience.
Yes. New management, with excellent attentive service.
The food is always great. The waiters are excellent and helpful with suggestions.
Still one of my favorite restaurants for a quiet Italian meal with wonderful service. Menu has changed a bit, and I miss their no longer offering beef carpaccio. However, the ambiance and service remain excellent, and the main courses are varied and tasty.
We chose Il Riccio for a pasta lover that understands authentic Italian food. We were not disappointed. Intimate, friendly atmosphere w/o feeling crowded. We had the goat cheese salad with best goat cheese i had - buttery with a hint of garlic. The pasta w meat sauce was delicious w/o being heavy and the chicken scarpariello traditional and tasty [you know when you eat beyond your means]; even the steamed spinach was flavorful. They also matched us very well with wine. All in all a delightful experience and we'll be there again
This is a lovely, friendly, neighborhood restaurant with good Italian food. The specialities change nightly. There is always something you would want to try. It is a great place to have a private, small party for up to 30 people.
Overall it was a lovely experience all the way around.
From the ease at which we made the reservation on Open Table to the warm reception when we got to the restaurant.
The food, staff and service all exceeded our expectations.
I would recommend the restaurant for any occasion
