I normally do not recommend Italian but this place was excellent. We really appreciated the exceptional service throughout our night. It was neither hurried, nor were we left waiting. The food was great and the calamari was spot on (really hard for most to pull off). Really nice for a date night or other occasion.
Our table was upstairs. Very nice and quiet. Food was outstanding!
The food and the preparation are of high quality. The knowledgeable waiter and the attentive bus service added to the enjoyment of the meal.
Confirmation. Food brought out at different times and an order was wrong which had to be reordered.
Everything was phenomenal! From the warm crusty bread with oil, to the martinis so chilled they had chars of ice in them, to the overflowing mussels appetizer and fresh pasta entree. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Also not rushed one bit. Let us take all the time we needed to catch up with friends.
Everything was great. My first time there and the food and service was excellent.
The service from Angel was great. Our app’s and main dish were
Very enjoyable. Highly recommend Il Poggiolo for a night out with friends.
The Hinsdale community was having electrical issues that caused the exhaust system at the restaurant to not operate properly. The restaurant handled the issue great. Our food was delicious service was great!
Fantastic food and service.
Great food and great atmosphere! Service was excellent!
we have been coming here for a couple of years. usually very good food. Not tonight. Salad had nothing in it advertised and the risotto was like dry wild rice.
Our server was outstanding in all respects, made the experience very enjoyable. Nice wine selection. Food was likewise very good. However, for basic Italian dinner for two (split a house salad, one app, two pasta entrees, one beer, three glasses of wine) I felt it a bit overpriced at nearly $200.00 with tip.
Great job for Christmas Eve dinner. Top notch. Thanks for everything!
exceeded our expectations. Great food but also great service
Always are assured a very good entree and a comfortable dining experience.
The overall experience was awful. It was our 4 year wedding anniversary and i made the reservation on open table and also called the restaurant to make sure they received the booking. The man I spoke to was super friendly and happy we were coming in and said we’d really be taken care of and it would be a special experience since it was our special day. Well that was anything but true. Got there at 5:55 (res at 6 on a Thursday) and we were seated right away but our server was a college student who didn’t want to be there and didn’t smile once, ask us how our night was, if we’d been there before - basic customer service - let alone she didn’t even know or if she did know, didn’t acknowledge it was a special dinner for us. She checked on us three times the entire meal and the forth time it was to collect the check (and it’s not like she was slammed, she was only waiting on three tables of 2 in addition to ours). It was EXTREMELY loud and EXTREMELY cold due to the door constantly being open. It was anything but romantic, peaceful or enjoyable. Thankfully the company of my husband and the good food made it worth braving the cold. Just overall disappointed we chose to have our first date night away from our newborn and spend our anniversary there when other restaurants in the area would have gone above and beyond to make it a special dinner and occasion especially if they saw the note in the reservation or received a direct call about it. Food however was good and the pork chop was cooked to perfection. Expensive for a sub par disappointing experience and doubt we’ll be back. If you’re looking for a true dining experience with attention to detail and a romantic atmosphere, head somewhere else.
I have been here a few times and this time my parents were in town and wanted to take them somewhere special. They both really enjoyed the food, wine and experience. It was the first time I also took my children which are two teenage boys and they also loved it! Can't wait to go back.
Everybody in my group ordered pasta except for myself I ordered the halibut and it had a pungent ammonia taste to it - I left it and covered it with the farro. I didn’t make a big deal because I was the one who chose this restaurant. Everyone from my group raved about the pasta and the sauces. Ravioli , rigatoni and lasagna were delicious. I guess I’ll just order pasta next time. The service was superb!
Heather is an excellent waitress. She made our holiday dinner exceptional. I love that they remember that I don't like ice in my water glass!! Top notch service.
Thanks for the delicious meal and birthday tiramisu!
One of our three dishes was cold and we should have sent it back but did not.
My Gnocchi was very good!
We were provided excellent service by our server Adam. He provided the perfect amount of attention and recommendations.
Ordered the chicken Milanese and skirt steak. Food was very delicious and cooked perfect. Restaurant has very nice decor and very friendly wait staff.
Excellent, creative scratch made dishes with great services and beautiful setting.
The service at Il Poggiolo is always fantastic
Food was ok. Calamari was rubbery. Everything is ala Carte. Ceaser salad was dry. $16 for a glass of wine is steep. A downtown Chicago wine price. Other restaurants in Hinsdale are better.
Celebrated our son’s birthday. Everything was outstanding. Great food, service and atmosphere. They brought out a birthday desert that was to die fore
Highly recommended and will go back again
Food was amazing and our waitress was so attentive, incredible service.
I regularly frequent this restaurant. I think it is a gem and wish more people would try it. I have never had a bad meal or bad service.
As always. Great food. Great service. Lovely ambiance.
Chicken was like shoe leather
Salad was not what represented two ingredients
My favorite Italian restaurant. Wonderful homemade pasta. Italian Moscato. Delicious desserts
Eddie was wonderful!
My daughters Birthday,,,,,,,,,
nice evening and great food, specials were excellent, carmella ? pasta rolls with butternut squash were outstanding
My husband and I dned at il Poggiolo for dinner. It’s a cutely decorated Italian restaurant. The tables are a little too close together for my liking. There’s a bar on the first floor, dining tables and the second floor has an additional dining area. My husband and I shared the grilled calamari as a starter. It was fresh and tasted good, not rubbery, but I like more of a char and I was missing tentacles. My favorite part! My husband had the cavatelli for his entree, and the marinara was decent and the cavatelli was fresh. I had the scallops, which were perfectly seared. Both good choices. The food here is very good, the attention from the servers could be better, as well as the close proximity of the tables. I would recommend I’ll Poggiolo.
We’ve been here before and had a way better experience and way better food. No specials on a Saturday night is weird, waitress very slow and unable to multitask and spouses meal not good at all. Not worth it to return.
We wanted this restaurant to be amazing since we live so close and there are very few great Italian restaurants in the suburbs. However, we were disappointed. The food was average and very pricy. For the price point, you might as well drive to the city for authentic Italian cuisine. We tried the chopped salad, lobster and crab ravioli and a creamy chicken pasta dish with mushrooms and broccoli. The dishes were quite bland in flavor.
The service however was great and the ambience was nice too.
Recently I was there on a Sunday night and the place was packed. Luckily I had a reservation. However, the wait staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and although we didn't have to wait for our entree or salad, we did have a long time to wait to order dessert and to get our check.
I still will recommend this place because the food and wine were great.
