Il Mulino New York - Downtown
There’s no place like Il Mulino New York. The luxury Italian restaurant’s flagship Greenwich Village outpost initiated New York’s fine Italian dining trend and is still prized in the city’s elite dining scene. Zagat has rated Il Mulino New York as Manhattan’s No. 1 Italian restaurant for decades and has said the restaurant provides "one-of-a-kind" cuisine filled with delicious flavors, creating an "outstanding Italian classic" restaurant where "every dish is a masterpiece."

The food was really delicious! I tried several bites of friends and they were all great. However, the wait staff was borderline rude. It was absolute chaos and we left feeling harried and unvalued as a customer.
Best restaurant I have EVER eaten at! Everything was completely beyond my expectations.
Excellent and service, would recommend this location to friends, family and business associates.
The food is simply amazing so much flavor. There’s nothing more to say!
Absolutely amazing . Truly one of the best restaurants we have ever eaten at. The veal parmigiana was as big as a man hole cover.
I love this restaurant. One of the best in the city! Love their Chicken Parm and pastas too.
Family trip to NYC. Service and food were exceptional. Highly recommend it.
Dinner was amazing - the service was outstanding. Wait staff wonderful with great suggestions as well as creating a special dessert for us. Highly recommend
This is my third time eating at this restaurant and it never disappoints. Still my favorite restaurant of all time. Such a fun experience... and the food is to die for. Service is the best part.
The best Italian food in NYC. We love it.
An unparalleled dining experience. Old World charm and attention to detail. Amazing staff. Wonderful food.
Food was middle of the road at best and the Wine was way overpriced. I've had great Dinner's here many times in the past and sadly it's just not what it used to be. Their past reputation and tourists will keep them busy but I doubt I will be coming back.
The food is a mixed bag at Il Mulino. A few dishes were quite good. Others were good and the rest were ok. For the price, the value is not really there. However, the staff is excellent and makes for a fun and interesting evening. That is worth going for at least once.
My favorite restaurant in New York. Always amazing in every way.
Food and service were outstanding. There were lots of delicious surprises brought to our table as appetizers, so many so that it was hard to eat all of our dinner! Although we like to try new places each time we visit NY, would definitely recommend this to our friends!
Hands down best Italian in NYC. Old school charm. Fantastic food. Great service. Do yourself a favor and let the waiter guide you through the menu. Just say yes. Jorge was the best. The food impeccable.
Always amazing! Service and attention to detail is the best!
Always a very special experience at Il Mulino.
Our reservation was for 8pm for 4 people. Which I made in advance with credit card to hold. However, we did not get seated until 8:45pm. The tables were very close to one another and there was very little wiggle room at the bar while waiting and in general. I could touch elbows with the guests at the next table. That said, the service and food was good/solid. There are many outstanding Italian restaurants in NYC and having lived in NYC for decades, I wouldn't necessarily return to Il Mulino as first choice. Overall, I would give it a solid 3 to 3.5 out of 5.
Il Mulino is one of those neighborhood places that everyone should go to at least once, if not again and again. There was not a bad dish to be had; however, if I had to single out a few, it would be the best rack of lamb I have ever had, the sumptuous veal chop, the delicious baked clams and the amazing meatballs, which you could make a meal of by themselves. The experience was only made better by the wonderful, friendly attentive service. And try to save room for dessert and have the wonderful chocolate cake.
Il Mulino is hands down the best italian dining in the city, the food, the ambience and especially the incredible service is unmatched by any other dining experience we have had in New York. We come here every time we visit and our experience is reinforced every time, Bravo!
Highly recommend. Food is outstanding. Waiters were very knowledgeable and helpful. I have been to several of their locations and have never been disappointed.
The only thing is that when we got there at 4pm for our reservations the place was not open and then when opened there were not ready for us
Excellent food, especially pasta dishes. Feels like you are eating dinner in Italy.
We always enjoy Il Mulino (Downtown). The ambiance is terrific as is the service as is the food and there is an extensive menu. The prices are what you'd expect from a high quality NY restaurant--worth it for the quality--but not inexpensive and of course you get several little amuse bouches for the table that are included. Only quibble is I find a lot of the pre-prepared food like the bread and the bouches quite salty and a lot of the dishes seem to be on the spicy side. But they are very accommodating in terms making adjustments. We enjoyed dinner.
Only thing better than the food was the service. Amazing!
What do you say about the best Italian in Manhattan. Wonderful everything. Impossible to get a Saturday evening booking but who cares when you can go Sunday. It is the best ; food , service , ambiance. I m captivated.
These guys work their tails off to ensure you have a good experience with food and service. I’m amazed.
From the moment you sit down to the time when you just can’t eat anymore, fantastic. Bravo!
I've been here many times but not in a while. Definitely seem to have lost what made it special, food quality-wise. Service is still outstanding and the food is still good, but it used to be amazing. Apparently others seem to be onto this, as it was easy to get a reservation the same day and it was practically empty at lunchtime on a Thursday, and my recollection was that even lunch used to be packed.
Absolutely amazing from start until the end. The waiters breath hospitaly.
Fabulous little experience but well worth it. This is our sec
Il Mulino is my favorite Italian place. The bruschetta is the best I’ve ever had and the food is always amazing.
As always a fabulous experience, delicious food, super service. We will be back next time we are in the city.
Old Favorite classic NYC Italian. Never lets me down!! Bravo
It was awesome food, awesome atmosphere and awesome hospitality.
It was my birthday. They could not ha e been nicer. The food is amazing. The special osso bucolic best we ever had. I love this place.
The most authentic, enjoyable experience for our NYC final evening! So many extras of cheese, bread, etc. that were delicious.
George and his fellow servers were gracious and attentive.
Wha a gem we found in the village. We were full before our orders even came out! If I had to say one negative thing, it would be that the wait staff was almost too attentive. The food was stellar! We were just on our way to the comedy club down the street, wish we had more time to stay and enjoy the ambience of this little treasure!
