Il Baretto Wine Bar and Restaurant
If you're looking for a super Italian cuisine and would like to avoid both chain restaurants and designer price tags, Il Baretto in Blandford Street is an excellent choice.
Located between Marylebone High Street and Baker Street, Il Baretto has a smart wine bar located on the ground floor and a cavernous basement dining room that is a stylish restaurant for group parties and celebrations.
Popular with a local crowd, as well as with tourists and shoppers from Bond Street, this restaurant serves up authentic Italian recipes and we love the spaghetti con astice with lobster, sweet chilli and garlic sauce, and the Maccheroni with black truffle. Pizzas and dishes from the robata grill are winners too.
FREE ICE CREAM for all kiddies, the good & the naughty little ones!

Service was indifferent. Long wait to get drinks long wait to order. Many different servers. Food was very good, but service took away from the enjoyment.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We have been to il Baretto many times over the years and the service is always outstanding and the food consistently excellent.
A typically enjoyable and warm welcome from the team at Il Baretto - great atmosphere and wonderful service - the papardelle with duck was divine - and the garlic bread was an unexpected treat
Dear Guest, Thank you for your lovely words. Your happiness is our mission and what we are passionate about. We are glad that you enjoyed our pappardelle with duck..then you cannot miss our new seasonal menu! Looking forward to welcoming you back, Guest relation manager
Bad service left us waiting for a long time before a menu arrived.
Food wasn't great.
Dear guest, Please accept our apologies for the poor experience with us. We always want our guests to leave Il Baretto happy and gratified. As on this occasion we clearly did not meet our your expectations and our usual standards, if you wish to discuss further, please contact our Guest relations manager, Brigita, at Brigita@ilbaretto.co.uk. Best regards, Reception team
Food was delicious. Service was overtly lacking. The table of 4 next to us got up and left because of ir
Dear Wendy, We glad that you enjoyed our food...it is a pity that unfortunately you can not say the same about the service. We noted your disappointment and we do apologise for that. We would be grateful to be given another opportunity to impress you with a service meeting the standard of our food. Please do not hesitate to contact us and we would delighted to assist you. Warm regards, Guest relations manager
Reliably very good Italian. Pricey but you get what you pay for . Excellent wine list .
Dear MN1967, We are glad to read that you enjoyed your dining experience with us. We are also happy to understand that our selection of wines met your expectations and delighted you. Our sommelier thoroughly and passionately selects the wines to be included in our list. Looking forward to welcoming you back, Guest Relations Manager
This is the best Italian restaurant in London. The food and wine is exceptional and the service is expertise with a smile. I cannot wait to go back
the pizza is great if you like a thin crisp crust. The fish is always lovely. Nice Italian food, with a modern ambience.
Best Italian food in london! Service could be improved. Will definitely go back!
Very friendly service and also helpful and welcoming to our 3 year old daughter!
Food is acceptable, at least good if not better. Service was okay, but largely mechanical and uninspired
Downstairs room very noisy. Not sure about upstairs. Fucina, in the same Marleybone neighborhood, is better all around and roughly the same price points.
I can definitely recommend this restaurant. What you get is traditional Italian dishes, which you don’t in most other Italian restaurants. The desserts are also outstanding. This high quality comes for a certain price though, it is not in the cheaper end...
Il Baretto is a better-than-average Italian restaurant with impeccable service and a good wine list. Home-made tuna ravioli was OK, but burrata-and-truffles was a hit due to generous black truffle shavings. Dover sole was again OK. Service was fast and attentive without being intrusive -- just about perfect.
Excellent food, although pricy. Generous starters, don’t order one each!
Surly waiters, one in particular and especially tetchy when we refused to pay 13% service charge.
Noisy parties, so don’t recommend downstairs tables for quiet conversations with friends.
Been to restauant 20+ times in past. Took friends to show off the restaurant. They jammed the four of us into into a table for 2... very uncomfortable and tight while other 2 persons sat at tables for 4 persons. Food was extremely salted. Very disappointed what we were used to in previous dozens of visits. In past has been excellent.
Food excellent as always; service a bit slow on this evening. It's a gem of a place, regardless.
Food is tasty and while some of it was excellent, some dishes were average. Brusque service and expensive for what it is, even for Marylebone.
Was a favourite of mine. Vitello Milanese was over breaded and overfried...tough to eat. Very hard to hear conversation. Were forgotten in a corner for 20 mins.
Pity...had some super dinners there..this wasnt one of them.
Felt a bit rushed. The food was fine. The cocktails were below average. Nothing special. I would probably try somewhere else next time.
Love going here
Such amazing food
And the staff are outstanding
A charming, delightful restaurant that has never fallen short of the high standards expected. Food, drink and service are all to be praised. I have no hesitation in making my positive recommendation.
Great food, great atmosphere and service
We were fasting and the waiter refused to make any changes we requested to some of the dishes and not refused politely with major attitude
Im never going back and telling family and friends about how horrible they are
This is a very good 'family style" Italian restaurant. A little pricey for what it does but better value than some around and about it! The thew salt beef carpaccio is excellent as is the fried squids & courgettes,
The baked sea bass, the halibut, beef fillet, spatchcock baby chicken (off the bone), grilled lamb chops and air dried sirloin with mushrooms are all superb enjoyed on repeated visits.
the ice cream and sorbets finish the meal well.
There is a good wine selection and the wine waiter helpful and non patronising!
well worth a visit and we will be back!
Excellent as always. Delicious food and friendly service
While the service was good all three of our party thought the food was massively overpriced for what it was. We won’t be going back and wouldn’t recommend it when there are so many other great and fairly priced restaurants to choose from in Marylebone.
Very busy and we had seating in the basement which wasn’t great.
Great food although expensive. Great wine list with good variety of prices.
Mediocre food and overpriced. Too loud.
The food was very overpriced and the quality mediocre. The soup was appalling. When the waiter asked us if everything was fine and we tried to say we were not satisfied, he did not resound -either deliberately or because he could not speak English.
Excellent night. Wonderful service. Delicious food. Nice selection of wines by the glass. We will go back for sure.
Good authentic Italian food - efficient friendly service
Food and ambience was fantastic. Unfortunately, the waiters let down the experience by not coming over and asking if we would like to order drinks or food, I had to ask the waiter after waiting 25 minutes of sitting there with our menus closed.
Great food really enjoy going to this place have been here loads
Amazing pizza!! Who would have thought Scamorza cheese and mustard greens go hand-in-hand!! Il Baretto did and it was out of this world!
Their inverted cheese cake was divine.
Thank you for your warm welcome and service.
See you soon!
Wonderful food. Lovely atmosphere. Massively over-ordered though! We will be back.
We have visited this restaurant many times and always enjoy everything about it !
Just felt it was a bit overpriced but would still go back !
The downstairs dining room was too loud for our table of three to even speak to each other without really shouting. The woman in charge was very friendly and apologetic when we complained but could not offer us an alternative place to sit so we just ate and left. We were so close to walking out but it was a Saturday evening and were concerned about where else we would find a restaurant with a free table.
The food was disappointing lacking any true Italian flavours, a real shame as we had read good reviews and were looking forward to some authentic Italian food. We also felt the food was overpriced.
The place was busy but mostly with large groups who were also having to shout to be heard, the noise level was almost painful.
In all an unpleasant experience we will not repeat.
