A Modern Approach to Southern-Inspired Cuisine

Aside from the classic cocktail, a highball is a train conductor’s signal to depart at full speed. It was how Central Florida’s abundant harvests moved from field to table, an iconic symbol of the region’s agricultural might. Highball & Harvest (H&H) pays homage to this legacy, with menus laden with ingredients from local farms, as well as our own green-growing efforts. We pluck fresh produce from our on-site 7,000- square-foot garden at Whisper Creek Farm. Handcrafted cocktails are infused with seasonal fruits and herbs, and create a culinary adventure that is as inspiring as it is memorable.

    H&H was a huge disappointment. I had worked with the restaurant to schedule our executive team dinner. We made it clear that we needed to have dinner in 2 hours when we checked in. We were told that wasn't a problem. It took 15 minutes to get water. Then another 10 to have our orders taken. Apps and drinks we order came sometime after. I asked politely 2X regarding the delay for our food. We didn't see our entrees until 2 hours in. Entrees were ~$38-$50. While they were hearty and had good taste, they didn't merit that cost. If it were fine dining, I could imagine that the food would take longer and be pricey. It was gastro pub fare with very slow service. And what's worrisome is this is how we were treated as an executive team for an organization hosting its bi-annual convention there. Our patronage and large corporate account did not seem to matter whatsoever. Their only saving grace is their breakfast where there is good buffet and selection...

    The portions were ample and satisfying. My wife had the skirt steak which was more than expected. Parker House Rolls are a must. Shrimp and Grits comparable to NOLA. Great evening.

    So we had very high hopes for this restaurant. Especially since it was within the Ritz Carlton. We consider ourselves to have decent pallets when it comes to food. Ordered the duck breast appetizer. First of all, it was four of us sharing the app, and it came with three very minute slivers of duck breast on top of a piece of focaccia bread. Taste was great, but the overall dish was bread, butter, jam and ketchup. That was the first disappointment. We then order entrées to include the lamb chops, shrimp and grits and the skirt steak. Lamb chops had a good flavor and cook however, that’s all it was and for $52 we expect to be full or at the least satisfied. There was no other side (starch or veg) accompanying the dish. The shrimp and grits was a joke. It was a soupy mess of spicy tomato sauce with shrimp and sausage. The grits were nonexistent. We sent one back and got the halibut instead. That dish alone was a hot mess. It had three different purees of no taste whatsoever and no cohesiveness, the halibut was not seasoned at all then it had an odd cranberry sort of jam with it. It was not very well thought through. The skirt steak was meh. Stephen, our server was excellent, but for a $300+ meal at a Ritz Carlton restaurant… well let’s say never again! They’re lucky they got that out of us.

    We came here for Father’s Day. Our server was Daniel and he was amazing. Very attentive, knew the menu well, and overall was very kind. We had the deviled eggs which were really good. And we had the skirt steak and rack of lamb. Both delicious! Also had the mac n cheese as a side. I wish that had come out hotter than it was. We finished with the crème brûlée which was delicious! I do think the menu is priced higher than it should be. For example, my espresso martini with Tito’s was $23 and the black coffee with cream on the side after dinner was $6.50. Those prices seem a bit much in my opinion but we are also living in a time everything is overpriced. The service was amazing, great food, I would come back.

    Everything was wonderful from the time we first sat at the bar to have a drink before dinner to until the time we were done dining. The experience, food and service was phenomenal. Arguably the best skirt steak I have ever had. So juicy and tasteful. Jackie was great as our waiter. Attentive and polite throughout the entire night, and even brought a complimentary dessert for my wife’s birthday…a wonderful touch to a memorable evening. I had the donuts which were nothing short of spectacular. We can’t wait to dine there again!!!

    Dined here while staying at the Ritz Carlton Orlando, food was good but the service from Mario our server was outstanding, Mario recommended some fantastic cocktails and was Five stars!!
