The service good be better. We waited awhile for our drinks to arrive. Disappointed that many of the traditional recipes have changed from years ago.
Had a good time & food was good
Our server and front receptionist were outstanding
Friday 11/15/19 was my 1st time at Harold and Belle's & after reading a little about the history of the restaurant it seemed like a nice little hidden gem in South Los Angeles. I made a reservation in the hopes there wouldn't be a long wait on a Friday night & my friend an I were seated promptly. The server was named Maya and upon mentioning it was my 1st time there wasn't much of a welcome as a new customer. Nonetheless after reviewing the menu we made out order. The inside of the restaurant was pretty nice and although there wasn't a very large dining area it SEEMED like more of a nice sit down type restaurant.
A few minutes after placing our order there was a group of about 8 people that was inconsiderately loud in the dining area. I have been to places where there are groups that are having a good time and can tend to get a bit noisy, however when Maya came to our table and we asked if she minded asking them to lower the noise level we were quite taken aback when the response was a swift and outright "NO". Absolutely zero interest in helping to create an enjoyable and peaceful dining experience for the rest of the customers some around us clearly agitated. With our shocked looks she then said i'll let the manager know and returned to inform us that the managers response was that they are paying customers as well so there was nothing that could be done.
It was very difficult to even talk with my friend across the table and although I was tempted to just cancel our order and leave, I wanted to see if the food was any good. When the food came it was a decent meal and I just got to it since I couldn't really talk over the loud group.
Because I want to support businesses that support and employ the south l.a. area I paid my bill and tipped the server (even though I really didn't want to) But I doubt I will be returning to Harold and Belle's as my experience didn't show much in terms of decent customer service from the management down to the staff I encountered.
I love Harold and Belle’s! Been coming for years. Great cuisine, service and strong cocktails!!
Only complaint is the noise level, I went on a Friday night and there was a large group in the dining area so I feel like the noise was high! It was hard to hear my group and they struggled to hear me. But overall a great restaurant I will continue to eat at!!
Great food, atmosphere, and price
Great food. We ordered the pot of Seafood Gumbo. Very delicious and Louisiana style. Every entrée we ordered was flavorful and delicious. A little pricey, but we did not let that stop us!
We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation. The Host advised us that he would be back after checking us in. Ten minutes passed. After seeing us loitering at the front desk, a Wonderful Waitress took the time to seat us. Our waiter was great and the food was excellent.
My husband and I came here on a date night. We love this place but haven’t been in years (pre-renovation) since we don’t live in the area. I miss the dimmer lighting of days past. To start my husband got the Bon Temps tea and it is now our favorite drink! For dinner my husband got the seafood platter (fried). It was his first time trying red snapper. He wasn’t a fan of it but that’s just his preference nothing wrong with they way it was cooked. I ordered the catfish and it was... amazing. The clam chowder side surprised me in the best way possible. I don’t think I’ve had better. The Mac and cheese and red beans and rice were also quite tasty. Now as good as our food was our dessert was as good if not better. The sweet potato pie was perfect but the peach cobbler was out of this world!!! Harold & Belle’s lived up to and exceeded our expectations!
Food was good, server was very nice but inefficient
We celebrated a vow renewal at the beach with out of state friends and then brought them to H and B. The food was not like it used to be; well seasoned and delicious. It was just ok.
Hadn’t been here in a few years since moving to Atlanta. Made reservations for 9 o’clock got there on time and wasn’t seated in till 10 o’clock when I got up to complain we were seated food came out and I was very disappointed I ordered what I’ve always ordered every time I come which is the crab over pasta and it was not good not the same flavor that usually has maybe our mood was cut off by being late and the lack of professionalism. The whole ambience is different the whole restaurant has been remodeled so not the best anymore.
Smaller side portions and the fried chicken seemed processed. Not the usual taste. Very different experience.
The food there is always great and I will recommend this place any time in any day
That was not New Orleans food. Very disappointed.
We always have a great time & the food is delicious . The clam chowder & catfish & macaroni are my favorite
The food is nothing like in the 90’s. It definitely doesn’t remind me of home, NOLA. What happened to the heaping seafood platters with an amazing salad and corn on the cob? I don’t understand why people try to fix what isn’t broken. I don’t think I will return
The food was outstanding and service very good. Excellent experience overall.
I found this restaurant and immediately booked a reservation.
We were all amazed at the delicious food and great service.
The food was good but it was a bit noisy. Good drinks as well. Our waitress was good but didn't have a great personality, not very friendly just very business like.
Food and service excellent. Catfish nuggets appetizer was enough for four adults. Scampi and etouffee deliciously flavorful. Portions enough for two adults. Jambalaya delightful in every way. Ten thumbs up over all
Harold and Belle's does not disappoint when it comes to seafood prepared the New Orleans way! The seasoning is always on point and you receive your food piping hot from the kitchen. The fried cat fish is usually my go to, this time I had Shrimp Scampi and it was delicious. Two in our party had the fried shrimp plate and the other person had the Jambalaya, we were all very pleased and satisfied, with leftovers to take home. They are still my most favorite seafood place in L.A.
This is the best place for New Orleans style cooking. Great food. Always fresh, hot and mouth watering. I have been there now 4 times in the last 2 months. Don’t forget to try the catch fish.
Love the food and have been going to this place for over 30 years.. the jazz on fridays is great . And I will always be a H&B patron... l
Great food and great environment. We had reservations and we were seated promptly. I recommend the soft shell crab, catfish and fried chicken. I will definitely come here again when I'm LA.
The Charbroiled oysters were worth the price of admission. I had a large bowl of gumbo it was great! My girlfriend had the catfish, it was enough to feed three people. I should have hung out in the bar area but grabbed a table in the back. It was really nice. the food was great. cant wait to go back.
This is definitely one of our favorite restaurants at the top of our list where we love to dine. If you are looking for the best Creole food without going to New Orleans, Louisiana this is the place. The restaurant has been remodeled and looks great. The food here is amazing. you get plenty of food for the price. You will never leave here disappointed.
Food quality was disappointing. Crawfish were scarce and didn’t taste fresh. My expectations were not met with this visit.
The food and the service was IMPECCABLE!!!!!!! I took my boyfriend here for his birthday as this was his 1st visit. He absolutely LOVED IT!
The people were super nice. I expected the food to be better. The drinks were very good. The portions were generous.
I had not eaten here in several years. I was not diaappointed. The food was cooked exactly as I remembered. I ordered the catfish dinner with red beans, it was delicious.
Love this place. The food here is simply delicious. They never disappoint. The service is great and the portions are plentiful. If you're looking for true New Orleans cuisine this is definitely without a doubt the best place to get it.
Food and customer service always on point! Our waitress exceeded expectations. I invited a friend from New Orleans who loved the authentic N.O flavor.
Best Creole cooking I have had outside of New Orleans.
Reminds me of my family Sunday dinner. Food is amazing, customer service great. Nice comfortable sitting.
If your flight to New Orleans gets canceled, go to H&B's and eat your way there.
I don't know what took us so long to go back to Harold and Belle's. Everything is outstanding and the amount of food is surprising. We will be back!!! The restaurant personnel were great and very attentive to our needs. Thank you for a wonderful lunch experience.
Harold and Belle's was an excellent place to dine. I heard about the restaurant while watching the Steve Harvey show. My family and I are from Texas. We traveled to LA for a family reunion. The food was soooo good! I ate catfish and soft shelled crabs. My grandbaby who is allergic to peanuts was able to eat fries, fish, and plenty of delicious bread. Not only was the food tasty, the atmosphere was nice and cozy. The young lady who took our order was professional and kind. The manager even came to our table to welcome us. As you can tell, I most definitely recommend Harold and Belle's. I wish we were there now.
It was okay. Not as great as I was told it would be. Sorry, but it was just okay. Very nice staff and great service. But food didn’t impress me.
Celebrated my boyfriends 50th birthday and it was his first time attending. He really enjoyed everything about it and the food was exceptional. Thank for making the experience..Special!
