Grifone closed for renovations. Open Table should make sure you don’t take reservations when restaurants are closed.
Terrific food - and great service. Wonderful atmosphere.
This is my all time fav restaurant. I would go every night if I could. The food is superior with the best ingredients. The staff is professional and accommodating to your every wish.
The owner makes me feel like a princess. The owner Mario has been in the business for many years and pays attention to each customer. The ambiance is tres old time New York
A hidden gem. Amazing service and food. Super quiet and easy to enjoy a super private evening.
Excellent food and service. Heartily recommend.
Loved our experience. Said we would definitely return. Wish we could go more often but we don’t live in the city but we are definitely returning when we visit the city again.
Excellent food. Great seating. Great service. And above all, quiet. One can have conversations here!
I was very pleasantly surprised. Food service everything was fabulous.
Nice, tranquil long time dining spot in Midtown East. Met a friend to celebrate our birthdays! As usual, Mario the owner, greets everyone at the door as a long lost friend. This is Northern Italian food at it's best. it all boils down to sauces and there's nothing to complain about here. delicate flavors blend together like a fine painting. No obtrusive flavors "pepperoncini" unless you request them. It's about delicacy, mildness, complementing food flavors, not drowning the food with sauces. Really well done. The chicken dish was great! split an appetizer, pasta with veal ragu sauce that was superb. strongly suggest Grifone for a great business meeting (lunch or dinner), a date night or quiet evening with a special other. You will enjoy it!
Overall very good food and service; a little overpriced, particularly the specials vs the comparable menu items.
The best Italian restaurant in New York. Mario is a gem.
Grifone's has been around for many years and I believe it continues to be one of the best hidden gems in midtown that is so easy to find! Located on East 46th, Grifone is a small venue that gives you the atmosphere to have a quiet and productive lunch or dinner meeting for business, or a quiet interlude with your significant other.
The food is CONSISTANTLY fresh, well prepared, and served with an attentive smile.
Whenever I have an important meeting, or just an excuse to have a high end lunch/dinner, this is one of my top choices in New York City.
If you haven't been there in a while, why not?
If you have never been, why wait?
Outstanding food, outstanding atmosphere, outstanding service. The owner truely cares about taking care of his customers with great food and great service. I feel fortunate to have found this neighborhood gem.
Picture a fine small Italian restaurant and you will see Grifone.
The food was delicious but the big difference from other restaurants is the care of the owner and wait staff!
Mario, the matre ‘D was awesome. Oslo bucolic outstanding
The strongest things about this place are the service and the low sound level. It's great for after work drinks and conversation, but although the service is top shelf, the food is hit or miss. I ordered risotto, which should be made to order, and what I got was a ball of gummy rice which looked like it had been prepared hours ago and served with an ice cream scoop. My osso bucco was tasty, but its toughness indicated it probably should have stayed much longer in a dutch oven at low temperature until it was falling off the bone. And the lighting in the place is terribly unromantic, much too bright.
I love Grifone. Always great service, friendly and familiar. Comfortable and quiet.
Decor could use a little update - but wonderful food and service makes you feel like a guest in someone’s home.
I have been going for years. The food is always great and standard Italian fare the service superb. Good wines as well
After the dinner the waiter who was serving us created an incredible difficulty when I asked him to split the bill, saying that I should have told him about it previously.
Other embarrassing moment was when the coat keeping woman asked for tips. I wasn’t informed that was an extra service and I felt extremely offended by the way I was treated.
In a few words: the restaurant service is horrible.
Food is fantastic
Service is great
Love this place.
Another wonderful experience at this italian gem. Food was wonderful as usual and the service was as well. The owner does a great job of seeing that the customer is well taken care of.
Food was average for what we paid! Restaurant looked nice and they had a cloak room for coats which was a nice touch! Staff were friendly, but overall, way too expensive for the food and experience! Won't go back anytime soon!
Very lovely dim lit restaurant with great ambience. The food was deliciously light for an Italian restaurant, and service was impeccable.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant , and would hesitate to return for enjoyable nite out.
Atmosphere is perfect if you are looking for a quite setting. Service is on point and food is delicious. Truly enjoyed the fresh seafood salad..... and the gnocchi was perfection.
Old School Italian-decent food but way overpriced-no alcohol-bill for two over $100 for lunch-there are much better choices-seafood salad was made with mostly muscles and squid and too much oil-
Two of us went there for a special lunch and were surprised to be one of only two tables filled for lunch. That lack of attendance is usually the kiss of death, but in this case, the crowd is very wrong!
What wonderful food they serve! Authentic, delicious northern Italian cuisine . The waiters were excellent- friendly and knowledgeable
While lunch was expensive, it was very worth it and I plan to come back with a larger crowd in the future
I really think this is a hidden gem
Decent food this time, but the pasta was over cooked. Terrific tomato sauce. We were the only customers at lunchtime; it was still hard to get our waiter’s attention as he constantly seemed too busy with his smartphone.
This is some of the best food and most elegant dining in NYC. We celebrated my parents 50th anniversary here and it was amazing!
Took my family from Texas for an authentic NYC Italian meal. Grifones never disappoints.
I have been going to Girfone off and on for probably 20_ years and have never ever been disappointed. From the warm greeting at the door, to the recitation of daily specials (I think I have only ordered out of the menus once or maybe twice). It is worth going out of the way to visit
They did not make it clear that the side dishes were not included with each entree. They charged us $12.00 for mashed potatoes. The dessert was a small piece of cheesecake which was $14.00. The food was okay but we felt taken advantage of.
Treated like a princess!
As always top service , constant attention and scrumptious food.
The best steak ever with mushrooms. The schrimp cocktail was fresh and crispy.
The berriesdo fresh and juicy
Old time New York elegance!
Stay around forever
Mario the owner gives individual attention to all
This restaurant is amazing. I first went as part of a business meeting 15 years ago and started brining my family annually as part of a holiday trip. If I lived in NYC I’d eat there every week.
Classic Italian Restaurant. Superb service and delicious food.
Very friendly and inviting staff with some amazing dishes to go along with the service.
Men’s bathroom was disgusting, ruined experience for several in group. Food varied, half of us liked very much, others found sauces too watery.
I have been going here for years and finally wanted to say that this is likely THE BEST authentic Italian food in the area. This is old school Italian at its best, from the maitre d', to the staff, to the specials menu to the regular menu. The food is excellent. They will literally make you anything you want, but if you cant find something from the specials, you likely don't know good Italian. The staff is extremely attentive. They are on my short list of good restaurants in this part of NYC. Perfect for anyone that has to commute home to the burbs since its just a couple blocks from Grand Central.
