Indian | Bury, Bury

The concept of this brainchild is to be a gateway for the world to India. Darbar is derived from Urdu (Persian) Language meaning a royal court. Since the Mughals and Indians have had a common rich cultural heritage the word has been aptly adopted across the Indian languages. Our cuisines have greatly been influenced resulting in richly created foods for all ages. India, being a diverse nation in terms of language, ethnicity, and culture has a rich diversity in food habits and culinary designs too. It has adapted its own version of the various countries it interacted with and emerged with a unique and exemplary style of cooking. We aim to present you a glimpse of the diversity our country stands for at one place (Darbar).More

We started with Scallops and black pudding with garlic cheese bread. It was very very well presented. For mains we had fish and chips and steak sandwich. The fish was with a beer batter and the chips were fresh made. The steak sandwich was excellent again with fresh made chips. I did not see any signs that any of the food was pre-prepared or boil in a bag. It looked and tasted freshly prepared. The waiter wanted to make our dining experience a good one and he succeeded. The chef came and had a word with us and I said he needed to badger the owners to market the place better. It has only been open a few weeks, we cancelled a table at the Clarence to try this out and we weren't disappointed. Reading this you might think I have a connection to the restaurant but I don't. I never really liked the bar that much but Bury used to have only two options for dining (Automatic) for town centre dining. Now it has three. Give it a go. On the down side we were the only diners on a Friday evening 7pm. They need to advertise the food was great. One down side, they only take food orders until 9pm which is a bit early for some diners. I hope they can strike a balance between a thriving bar/late night venue and a dining experience. More

Gastro Pub | Bury, Bury

Nicely decorated, comfortable and friendly although a little chilly. Friendly chatty staff who are happy to help. Soup was lovely but black pudding starter was disappointing- deep fried and no sauce so a bit dry. Mains although tasty came with little veg and sauce. I had lamb and mash which came with two small pieces of carrot and a tiny bit of jus would rather have had less mash and more choice of veg and jus as it was dry same for the pork. Steak dish was nice and Thai chicken burger average. Not as good as last time we visited, need to look at the menu as some things expensive for what you get. However as I said nice pub with friendly atmosphere would go again and give menu another try More
