Sal, our waiter was outstanding, it was a party of 24!
Service wasn’t good. The food was okay but I don’t think the price matched the service and options of food. Our waiter wasn’t attentive. Some of the food was good and some was blah. Probably wouldn’t return
The food is great. However, if you don't want premixed mimosas I suggest you go somewhere else.
The restaurant and service was great, the food was good but for the price u really need to have more variety such as pastas and some mexican food for those that dont care alot about seafood, also the dessert display was alot lacking overall my group had a good time
Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving buffet. Overpriced. Much of the food was flavorless. At this price, I was expecting a much, much better meal. Turkey had no flavor, stuffing was mushy and had the consistency of mashed potatoes (minus any flavor). Paella consisted of overcooked shrimp (and crab legs) sprinkled with paprika or some flavorless spice-this is seriously not paella. Nothing impressive about meal.
With the exception of the Host, my overall experience was excellent. The Host who greeted my family and myself was very rude, short, and unaccommodating. Three of our seven party members arrived at our reservation time of 12:30 but the remaining 4 were not arriving until 1:00. I asked if that would a problem. He responded by saying that we needed at least half of the party here to be seated and if my remaining party did not arrive by 1:00, he will cancel our reservation. He did not offer an alternative solution and just ended our conversation. I walked away to avoid an escalation because I felt he was very rude as if it was personal to him.
But a few minutes later, my daughter express her displeasure to the Host of his attitude towards me. The Host apologized but with the caveat of an excuse. So, the apology was not sincere. The Manager happened to over hear my daughter's displeasure and he offered to have us seated immediately while we waited for our remaining party of who did arrive at 1:00.
Fortunately, everything else regarding our experience was excellent. I am a frequent customer of the Grand Cafe. I am there for many occasions such as birthdays, holidays, and last year my wife and I stayed at the hotel for an staycation during the Thanksgiving week of which we ate at the Grand Cafe every day. At each visit, the waiters/waitresses were wonderful, attentive, and food was very good.
Considering that the Host is the first person we deal with when we arrive, it is important that conversation is pleasant and accommodating. That unpleasant exchange was the dominating memory of our experience.
Fruit was superb, as were the salmon and crab legs. The bacon was fantastic as well.
But ...
The halibut cakes had become desiccated under heat lamps. Their sauce had become so dry that it was crunchy. The taste was good, though.
The stuffing had become almost like pudding, but the flavor was good.
searched for a reasonably priced holiday buffet ... $69 pp which included bottomless mimosas! I am a sucker for prime rib and seafood as well as the traditional Thanksgiving Day fare. Would have rated the food 5 stars as it was sooo delicious— the meats (prime rib and turkey roasted to perfection, fried chicken was outta this world (my family loved the seasoned skin and the juicy tender meat), sidedishes were delicate and flavorful (mashed potatoes were buttery yet fluffy and light) and the root vegetables were delicately seasoned and slightly crunchy (how we like them) and there were a variety of small sized desserts to either eat whole or cut to share ( our favorite was the chocolate pecan pie); but a few dishes were a bit disappointing... the seafood paella had dry crab legs and no rice! The cornbread and halibut was also dry. HOWEVER The smoked salmon, already peeled shrimp, clams and steamed crab legs made up for those though. We enjoyed Beautiful views of MOCA and downtown from the floor to ceiling windows. Our first time there and will probably return for other holiday meals as it is a central location for us all.
Special thanks to our serve staff... Bruce and Jose who were very attentive and pleasant.
Low quality food. Does not worth the price I paid. Poor customer service. I will not come back.
The food variety was excellent. It ranged from traditional breakfast fare (bacon and eggs), omelettes and fresh fruit to crab legs, salmon, dim sum, congee, bbq ribs, fried chicken and much more. The food was well-prepared and fresh.
The wait staff was very helpful and attentive.
Would definitely go back!
Our party enjoyed the brunch. Servers were very nice and very attentive to us. I just wish crepes would be added to them menu. Overall, we had a great time! Will definitely come back
Waiting staff and chef were amazing!
Great restaurant and real good food. The poor waiters need some additional help. Even though it’s a brunch, they are still needed for drinks and clearing used plates. This was the only downside from my past experiences here. Still had a great time.
This buffet has consistently gone down over the years.
Limited variety, nothing special and not worth it. They’ve also changed the mimosa policy. They no longer serve it fresh. They premake the batches of mimosa and have too much OJ. Will no longer frequent this buffet.
There were only 2 salad choices. I would have liked more.
The first time I ate their everything was delicious it was mother's day 2019 I fell in love with the waffles they have hot and cold crab legs for the waffles were different smaller and I didn't care for the taste of the waffles northern whipped cream the first time it was freshly made this time I'm not sure what it was like anything is always an experience but for me I won't be back we paid 20% gratuity a party of 16 wepay 70 $5 + each adult well it's $55 that's a lot is too much it's not that good.
The menu is really good, though we do miss the lunch buffet.
Thank you so much for your feedback. We appreciate that you love our menu! For Lunch buffet - we do have our Holiday Lunch buffet beginning 12/2 until 12/20. We would love to host you! Thank you,
GREAT value for unlimited food and drinks! Allows for large parties to come in at any given time! No empty cup when it comes to mimosa's.
Lovely assortment of food & great service!
The only thing a have to say is that the parking was an issue.
Great brunch , food selection and service. Nice people.
The setting is really perfect. It's a large room with plenty of space and plenty of people. Our group of 21 people ordered from the Saturday lunch menu, however, most people ordered from the Saturday buffet...which looked absolutely beyond fantastically delicious.
Went there for a birthday celebration and the food and experience didn’t let us down. The selection was diverse, authentic and beautifully displayed. Was a little expensive, but was a nice splurge. Totally recommend it for any occasion.
In a land where it's hard to find a good brunch buffet, the Grand Cafe at the Omni is a gem. We've been several times in the past year for various occasions and we always enjoy our experience. The service is great and the buffet has many items from which to choose. The chef on-hand turns out a wicked omelet or fresh mini waffles (with lots of topping options). From seafood to Asian dishes to comfort food to an amazing dessert bar, it's hard to find something we don't enjoy.
When we arrived there was no on at the front to check us in, so we stood around for a minute until a server saw us and seated us. We had made a reservation for the Saturday brunch, but it wasn't too busy around 11:30am so probably can just walk in. The food was great, they had dim sum, crab legs, shrimp, sushi rolls, breakfast (omelets, French toast, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon), fried chicken, biscuits, sweet bread and a dessert station. It includes bottomless mimosas as well. Overall the service was great, the staff was really nice and the food was good. I'd recommend it to a friend and can see myself going back at a later date.
Very nice place to have brunch. Staff was really nice. We used a Travelzoo deal and I think it's ok value.
When you only have an hour for lunch and you're meeting up with people you don't get to talk to in person, it's the best place to meet. You can hear the rest of your party. The service is on spot and the food is always delicious. I'm extra thankful that they have added the Beyond Burger. It's so good!
Thank you!
Service was Great. Food was delicious. A very nice place for a lunch meeting, birthday celebratin or just to get with friends and co-workers.
I've been here several times, and I've been satisfied. This time I was with my brother who does not eat pork are beef, he pointed out that there selection of food was very limited. He barely ate anything. Also it took forever for them to refill the hot crabs. It's a nice atmosphere but it's small and the selection of food is limited.
The service was amazing! The cajun seafood was amazing and was my favorite dish
Great good, fast service, great atmosphere. Will definitely comeback and tell my friends.
The food was great and there were plenty of options for kids and adults. The service was also great the staff was very attentive and kept the refills coming. It was a nice day out so you could look out the window and see a different view of Downtown LA. My family and I stayed for about two hours, we ate laughed and had a great time! I will definitely be back again.
My nieces came for a visit and I wanted to treat them to a nice brunch. I chose the Grand Cafe because I treated my staff there for breakfast when my office was across the street. We always had a great time and the food was really good. The brunch and the great service were a hit with the girls so they left very satisfied.
I won't recommend this place unless it decides to improve their brunch game by 100% The only thing Grand Cafe has won is with their ambiance, service, and noise level. The food selections were underwhelming, inedible, and disappointing. I truly wanted to like it, but it really left a bad taste in my mouth as well as my 11 year old.
The variety of foods were great. The shrimp, crab legs and salmon were delicious and plentiful. The breakfast items were best tasty especially the made to order waffles and sausage links.
Our server was very nice and attentive. We love your shrimp salad...!
Everything was great for the exception that prime rib was supposed to be served and the meat they had was not prime rib. It was like top sirloin sliced thick. That was the only bummer and we were celebrating my 54th birthday.
Amytes was super friendly and accommodating to our very large party of 30. The food was fantastic! Will definitely return.
Great buffet selection and the food was so fresh & tasty. The servers were so attentive without hovering. Sal was a very attentive server with a great personality and really made my friend and i feel welcomed.
