Loved everything about it. The service was perfect. Very friendly. Loved the fact that it was fine dining, in a more relaxed atmosphere. The wait staff wore the restaurants t shirts, with the signature red converse. So great :) The meal was delicious. Gorgeous plating, and the flavors unforgettable. The brioche twinkie with the deconstructed ceasar salad was to die for! This would be my go to date night restaurant if we lived in the city. :) Graham was also there, and was willing to take time to talk with us. Very gracious and down to earth :) So cool! Highly recommend!!!
Saturday night must have been an off night. Took over an hour to get our entrees. Waitress apologized after we said something and then took the items off the check. Not the point, would have gladly paid full price as the food was outstanding, but the wait staff was confused. Waitress said it was the last night before transitioning to a new menu so they were out of 5 entrees and 3 of the 5 desserts. Seems to me that if you're serving the old menu then you'd have those items available and once you switch you can use what's left for specials or feature items vs. telling customers that you're out and then make them wait over an hour for it.
The food was great but not signature. It was really good and was a good value but it just didn't elevate to a signature dining by a signature Chef. Some things came very close but just didn't get there. Also, about 1/2 the menu was out. So had some of the other signature items been available, that might have changed things. The hostess was amazing, helping out with the servers and coming by quite often to check on us. I was looking for something one of a kind...top notch...like going to a Gordon Ramsey or John Besh or Emeril restaurant and it fell just short. I will give it another try when we visit Chicago again. The prices are very competitive...so you get amazing value.
The overall experience was painful. Our server first advised us that the restaurant was out of lobster (for the lobster risotto), the sea bass and the rabbit. She then ignored us for 45 minutes. After making the hostess aware that we wanted to order, the server returned oblivious to her lack of attention. We ordered the carrots for an appetizer, and lamb. The carrots were fine, but the lamb was flavorless and overdone. Despite our complaints to the staff about the poor service and lack of choices, there was no effort to ease our dining experience. Graham Elliot himself was there. Bad food, and poor effort by the staff. On the way out, our friends mentioned the terrible experience to the hostess. She replied, well, next time you visit us, we will be attentive. There won't be a next time.
Reasonably priced. Great patio. Great service. Everything was perfectly cooked.
Great food and outdoor patio in the back. Not to miss.
We were really disappointed. The place was empty. The staff at times seemed to want to be attentive - and then they would disappear. We said we'd like to share our dishes - they didn't bring spoons to dish out the food. When we asked, they waiter came back with one spoon although we had two dishes. We waited over 45 minutes to get two of the dishes. They were sort of apologetic but more inept than anything. The experience was so underwhelming I would never return. Food was major mediocre. Soggy popcorn just doesn't cut it.
Food was amazing, creative, delicious and relevant. The drinks were seasonal as well as traditional, but with a modern, Graham Elliot twist. One of the best burgers EVER! Highly recommend a visit to this hopping West Loop location. Fun and delicious.
What an amazing meal. Each dish was beautiful to look at and just as delicious. The staff helped us celebrate a special birthday in style. We were very much looking forward to seeing some of Elliot's classic dishes and were not disappointed. We will be back our next time in Chicago. A special thank you to the staff for a memorable meal.
Our server Julio made the experience. Plenty of nice restaurants in the area, great service and personality are hard to come by! Top that off with great dishes, this will be our new place to splurge!
Delicious. Also got a chance to see Graham and he was very kind!
HUGE FAN OF CHEF ELLIOT!!! I tasted most of the chef's signature dishes and they were all truly unique and creative with different flavors that combine beautifully! Service is extremely amazing! Every single staff member was incredibly kind! I will totally be back again! BEAUTIFUL RESTAURANT, BEAUTIFUL SERVICE, GORGEOUS FOOD! What else can you ask for an amazing dining experience?
we went during the week after seeing an exhibit at the Field Museum- great location
we loved the look of the restaurant- super casual
the outside seating in back was covered so even though there was a threat of rain, we were protected
popcorn with drinks was fantastic- truffle oil not overpowering
all the staff was attentive, pleasant, and very helpful with recommendations for ordering
I had the sea bass- crispy, flavorful (not a huge portion)
friend enjoyed his mussels- also great
the best salad ever- the deconstructed Caesar- absolutely loved it
Kale salad looked beautiful- not my palate, but very interesting
gnocchi was light and flavorful; don't remember other choices
the banana split at the end of the meal was yummy!!!
all in all, not a complaint and had a wonderful time
found off street parking as well- who could ask for more?
all in all, we loved
My wife and I are big fans of Graham Elliot from his appearance on MasterChef. The food was on point. Some might complain the portions are a little small for what you pay. But that's fine by me. The quality of the food is superb. My wife and I split 3 plates together and each had cocktails and dessert for just over $100. We left more than satisfied. The filet of beef stroganoff was out of this world good. And to make for a perfect vacation experience, we got to meet Graham Elliot and get pictures taken with him. It was a very special night!
good food, good value. Too noisy. Bread not up to par
Loved everything about it! The food was excellent and they helped us celebrate my boyfriends birthday with a great ice cream cone with pop rocks! Very fun! We also had the pleasure of seeing Graham Elliot who is one of our favorite chefs! It made the night perfect!
We have eaten in many Randolph Street restaurants and by far this is one of the best! Creative menu items prepared as if you were the most special diner in the restaurant! Food was prepared perfectly and brought to us quickly and very professionally & friendly! Plates are conducive to sharing. We never had dessert but we did & we did not regret it! Oh...and having Graham Elliott stop at our table and say Hi! was a great touch!
Casual atmosphere, great friendly service, excellent food with some unique drinks and new twists on traditional dishes.
Food was interesting and creative take on presentation. Service was incredibly slow.
The creative dishes are always very tasty and the staff is friendly and energetic.
A very wide ranging menu perfect for sharing small plates. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the outdoor patio means the noise level is subdued. The service level was just perfect, unobtrusive yet responsive and efficient throughout. We shared about six different items on the menu and they were all above expectations!
Easily one of our best meals at GEB. Cocktails were refreshing and the food was perfectly timed and delicious.
While the service was geat, the food was mediocre. We were a group of seven and seated in a stuffy, enclosed booth next to the kitchen area although the restaurant was almost half empty when we arrived and when we left.
Inventive food and great flavor combinations.
The food and the atmosphere are great here. We sat on the back patio which is shared by two other restaurants. I usually order small plates for the whole table and everyone walked away satisfied from all the dishes we tried. The only complaint that I have is that I had to ask to get our Client's water glass refilled.
We went to Graham Elliot Bistro for dinner last week and were impressed by the delicious small plates and main courses. I chose vegetarian dishes, but my partner was equally happy with the signature burger. The braised carrots were incredibly flavorful, and the risotto with peas was perfectly prepared. The only drawback of this great place was that the service, though friendly, was a bit slow.
Great service, incredible food and flavor profiles. Descriptions are a bit deceiving but in a playful way. Beef stroganoff is really a well executed filet minion with spätzle. Delicious though none the less.
Brought 6 year old and they treated him well - greeted him, he got. T-shirt and an autographed picture of Graham Elliot.
Masterchef intrigued. Loved our dining experience.
Really interesting food choices - all in small plates to share. Everything was presented beautifully and was delicious. Sat outside on the patio - a bit of a storm blew in but it didn't impact the evening or experience. Would definitely go back.
I absolutely adored Graham Elliot Bistro. The Filet Mignon Stroganoff was easily one of the most delicious meals I've ever eaten. The staff was attentive and the ambience was just lovely. I cannot wait to return!
Everything we had was delicious. We ordered 4 small plates and each one was better than the next. The service was fantastic without being rushed. The cocktails are also very good. It was a top notch meal and experience.
We celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary here. It was fabulous food and the service was outstanding. She was attentive, knowledgeable about all the food and made our special day special. We loved every part of this meal.
attentive service. Only complaints are that the seating was uncomfortable. Also, music was loud so that it was difficult to carry on a conversation. Dessert was outstanding .
Loved every minute of dinner. Our server, Anna, was fabulous. She made great recommendations and assisted with our food selections. Service was impeccable and the food was, of course, delicious. We were encouraged to share plates and enjoyed doing so! A bonus was seeing Graham Elliot in the restaurant while we were there. Would definitely return when back in Chicago. A perfect evening that we won't soon forget!
Five items ordered, five winners. Fresh ingredients, terrific attention to detail. Relaxed atmosphere but first rate service from enthusiastic/friendly but efficient Kali. Loved the cocktails and the wine service. The fresh spring pea risotto was a real winner, as were kale salad, black cod, rabbi schnitzel. My only regret is that we didn't order the full sized banana split instead of the junior portion. I'll be back!
My new favorite! Outstanding food and just the right potion size.
Food was excellent! Waitress was amazing and knew the food really well. Made great suggestions for us. Overall the experience was great. Only complaint was the music was super loud.
Excellent dining experience from creative tasty food to attentive and knowledgeable service. Only miss was the rabbit. Best dish was the sea bass-amazing!
For all the hype about Graham Elliott and his restaurant, we found it not to be anything special. The service was good, but the chefs working in the kitchen were just cooking food and it was unimpressive. Too salty and too spicy -- sharing and trying many dishes. No need to go back. Story could have been different if Graham himself was present in his restaurant.
We enjoyed a great Mother's Day brunch! The food was outstanding! The atmosphere was wonderful and our waitress was perfect. And the best part was the $39 per person price. Thank you GEB.
