Approachable sophisticated Pacific Northwest cuisine, simply prepared using the finest regional ingredients and served in a dining room with maritime-inspired design and sweeping views of Elliott Bay.

Ethan Stowell and Four Seasons Hotel Seattle are thrilled to announce the name of their new restaurant collaboration: Goldfinch Tavern. Named for the state bird of Washington, the American goldfinch.

The upscale tavern pays homage to the city’s pioneer days, when taverns catered to lumberjacks and sailors alike, providing a place for travelers and locals to both socialize and conduct business, all while enjoying drinks and food.

Our reservation said it was our anniversary. The waiter mentioned this several times; a white chocolate "Happy Anniversary" tag was included in our dessert. The ambience was conducive to conversation. A guitarist played sentimental classic songs. I ordered halibut with couscous, just a few peas and pea puree, and pancetta; it was prepared and presented perfectly. My husband had filet mignon with mashed potatoes; he was pleased with the presentation and quality. Dessert was marionberry creme brulee, also delicious. The valet knew we had to leave at a certain time for the ballet; our car was waiting out front. This was the best dining experience we have had in years. Highly recommend.

Our server was excellent and is what earned the five stars mostly ...but it was a beautiful setting and the food was good...maybe a little bland though :/ but probably more due to my menu choice.

For a food outlet at a Four Seasons this place ranks at the bottom. We had VIP guests visiting from out of town and wow, did this place disappoint. We were seated in the dining area, but right next to us was a group of men who were happily inebriated and loud. Normal conversation was out of the question. The menu left a good deal to be desired, and even though it's Copper River Salmon season in Seattle they didn't have it. Service was slow and inattentive, and our guests later commented that the glare from the windows made it impossible to see our faces. This place is off our list of places to eat.

A fantastic experience overall. We recently went to celebrate my birthday and the ambiance, food/drinks, and service was spectacular. The only hiccup was that the bartender said he wanted to take care of my first drink as a little birthday treat and it was still on our bill at the end. We didn't say anything because it felt petty to do so - but would have been nice if he had followed through. Either way - honestly this was a fantastic experience and we would definitely visit again.

My family and I tried the buffet brunch, and we were very impressed with the quality of the food and the excellent service. When some items ran out at the buffet, such as the delicious mango panna cotta and fresh oysters, our server was happy to bring them directly to our table.

This restaurant continues to be one of my all time favorites. From the food, to the service and ambiance, it’s the total package. I would highly recommend dining here for anyone visiting or living in the Seattle area. You can’t beat the location which is steps from the market or to Fran’s for some chocolate. Goldfinch is fabulous!

The service was impeccable as always, the food was excellent and the views were fabulous. It’s wonderful going to a nice restaurant where you don’t have to shout or lean closer to your dining companions to carry on a conversation. We were never rushed but also never waited long between courses. And the surprise birthday dessert was an excellent bonus.

The service from beginning to end was exceptional. The buffet had a wide variety of items to choose from. One in our part is gluten and lactose intolerant, and there were still many items in the main buffet (not so much the dessert buffet). The wait staff made sure our entrees arrived at the right time so we were not hurried. Entrees were quality and well presented. The dessert buffet wasn’t as extensive and had what would be expected. They were still good.

We dined here for a bachelorette party. The ambiance was amazing as well as the view. The staff and service were very friendly and accommodating. We had a large group and they were excellent. The music was nice and entertaining. It was pretty loud in the restaurant but they had a musician playing. I would definitely go back.

We celebrated our 8 yr wedding anniversary and my husband’s 37th birthday. The ambiance was amazing, we sat at a table with a view of the water, and our server was stellar. We ordered the Chef’s Choice (items she/he prepared were not on the menu) and were served a superb six courses. Each dish was prepared and plated so meticulously with a creative flare. And it all tasted even better than I could have imagined.

Celebrated my husbands last day of work....EVER! The evening started on a happy note with Emma’s kind service and connection. Then moved to our favorite spots at the bar for an excellent dinner....my husband’s favorite steak and exceptional pasta for me. Thank you for making the evening so memorable! Your staff always goes above and beyond and the food always exceeds expectations. The only thing we missed were the fried olives!

I am a frequent diner here. Overall the food is usually good and well done. On this occasion, i asked for my porkchop medium and it was overcooked. I didn’t send it back because it still tasted good and I didn’t have time to wait. But I think for a restaurant who adds 20% BEFORE TAXES as well as the reputation of Ethan Stowell, I feel this is an amateur mistake that should not occur.
Also, I find that the food is oddly either under salted or has the right amount of salt. I am not someone who ever adds salt to my food so the fact that I have to do so on certain dishes here I think also speaks to an amateur- ism that should not exist.

Went for Easter Brunch and was disappointed both with service and food quality. The waiter was not attentive, and the appetizer and dessert bar was largely picked over and not restocked. One of our entree's (Halibut) was overcooked. Not what I expect from the Four Seasons, Ethan Stowell, or a brunch that cost $85 a person plus mandatory 20% gratuity.

A special occasion calls for a special evening and Goldfinch certainly provided a lovely evening. We asked for a booth and it was waiting for us. Our server, Aaron was outstanding. His knowledge of the menu and the wines helped with our decisions and all were outstanding. And, Aaron understood the timing of a couple celebrating a special night out and never rushed us. Leaving at the end of our evening we knew we would be back.

We will come back for the Chef’s Choice menu. Pacing of food was impacted by a few server mistakes, but I think it was due to the limited restaurant week menu. Food was perfectly prepared and the menu was well planned. Lots of window views; unfortunately, it’s of the Public Storage facility.

We loved the ambiance and the flavors and creativity of the food. My halibut was cooked to absolute perfection. We also had a waitress who was fantastic and helpful, a truly attentive and thoughtful server.
We went for restaurant week and believe that the incredible flavors and skills of the chef and concept of the restaurant would have been showcased more effectively if the plates had not been so small.
I have tried many restaurant week restaurants in this and previous years and haven’t experienced such small portions.
My friend ordered the Lobster mashed potatoes to give us a bit more food, we shared them and they were incredible. I will likely crave them but it may take me a while before I try Goldfinch again.

The food on our second visit was much improved over the previous visit. We went during a Seattle Restaurant Week promotion, and found the food was well prepared and delicious. We also ordered the Octopus Appetizer from the regular menu and had similar good results. We drink wine with most every restaurant meal, and although we would normally praise the Four Seasons for their "By the Glass" program, this one left us unimpressed. The whites weren't very adventurous, and no Roses in sight. What are the beautiful people going to drink? Also, hide your wallet. I am thoroughly familiar with wine list mark-ups in Seattle, so I was not expecting to find $10 glasses of Cru level Burgundy. But $24 for a glass of decent Sancerre. Really?
