Proudly situated in the Hampstead Village community, with its quaint alleyways and perfectly preserved Georgian buildings, Gaucho Hampstead is a neighbourhood retreat in North London.
A stone’s throw from Hampstead Heath, our welcoming and contemporary interiors are the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed lunch, an after school treat or you can join us with the whole family on a Sunday for one of our legendary roasts.
One of our favourite features of the restaurant is our stunning, courtyard terrace with a traditional ‘Asado’ fire pit – where we barbeque in the summer and snuggle with blankets in the winter.
For all you Hampstead dog walkers, four-legged friends are always welcome for when you are snout and about.

We did not enjoy the food as result of not giving info while taking orders so we end up with a piece of cooked meat in the middle of a plate with no sauce or anything with it
Lamb was not edible due to how much fat was on it - whole meal served in under an hour. Zero ambience - staff stressed- like a canteen!
This is my favourite London Steak House - always enjoy the good vibes and the delicious food. This is the place to go for a date-night out or a family dinner with some amazing steaks.
We eat at Gaucho Hampstead quite a few times a year and this visit was as perfect as all the prvious ones. The steaks are really excellent, the staff attentive without being intrusive, and the selections of wines comprehensive.
A buzzy place with good food. Not cheap but you get what you pay for! It was a bit hot in the dining area , maybe air conditioning is needed !
One of the best steak houses in London! Highly recommended
Best service around. Manager has a great knack for remembering and looking after customers. Keep going back
The food was excellent, almost faultless. Funnily enough the only thing that was less than perfect was the coffee which was served luke warm. The service was outstanding. I dont remember the last time we (a group of six) experienced that level of service. Everyone was attentive, professional and charming. We will certainly be back.
This is a dog friendly restaurant where dogs are on the seating and disrupting others eating. The hostess lead me to a table with a massive long haired dog sprawled across the floor and then I was seated on the other side of the party with this dog after saying to the hostess that we can’t sit next to dogs to then find out later the same party had another dog that ended up standing on an empty seat beside me and watched me eat my starter and main. Our waitress was quite rude saying that she couldn’t give us 5 mins to pick our mains because she needed the table - yet she was not rushing other people around us who had been there before I came and had finished their courses and we hadn’t even been offered bread at this time. The bread was brought out with one of our starters, wine glass had lipstick print on it, the other starter had food transfer on the inside of the bowl which was the size of a thumb. The steak was not cooked to our desired taste. Icing on the cake was both myself and my guest ended up being sick in the early hours of the morning through to the next day. NEVER AGAIN!
Been in four different Gauchos - enjoyed all, but Hampstead was the best based on our one experience there.
A perfect afternoon. Efficient, informative and appropriately discreet service; fantastic steaks, perfectly cooked (as was the fish dish ordered by one of our party); excellent wine and a really lovely personal touch - a decorated plate of choccy truffles to celebrate the occasion. The afternoon shot by and we all agreed that actually, it was the best meal we'd all had for a really long time. Thank you, Gaucho people. The whole experience was really special.
The interior is like a meditteranean island nightclub; dark, glitzy very 1980s. Probably ok for evening dining but as there was only two other tables occupied at lunch it was soul-less. The staff were efficient and helpful. The rump steak, cooked medium rare, was like leather and is not recommended. Very expensive also. The scallop stater was fine but unspectacular. The Malbec at £29 was good. Overall, at £143 for lunch for two it was poor. I will not be a returning customer.
Excellent meat for people who are still eating meat!! And for the rest of us, great fish plus a very good vegetarian option.
Tables little to close together
Potato’s in the started undercooked
Fillet and sirloin was superb
Amazing cocktails, steak was delicious, service was amazing and just a very lovely first time experience! Will definitely go again and recommend to other people.
Really bad experience for Valentines night, it took them more than an hour to serve the food after we ordered. If we didn’t ask they wouldn’t even remembered about our order, after we complained the order served within minutes but this resulted the food to be undercooked. Never had this experience in a Gaucho restaurant...
Very good food and very friendly waiters! I liked the look of the restaurant and the positive vibe it gave, however the dessert menu needs more options. Overall, I will 100% go there again!
Awful food and service terrible took over 30 mins to get served each time. Not great for Valentine’s Day
Went there for Valentine's day. We were given 1h30m for our reservation but our mains only came when we had 10min left at the table. We were sat right next to the kitchen and could hear all the orders bering called, was like we were inside the kitchen. I'm a vegetarian and ordered the vegetable empanadas. So I took a bite only to realise that I just swallowed meat!!! I ordered tagliatelle for the main, tasted good but started feeling ill the next day and I'm still not feeling too good after two days. Would not recommend to anyone.
Was my birthday and the staff was ABSOLUTELY amazing and lovely.
Excellent food , especially the starter A very good service & the recommendations by the waitress was super.
Excellente meat. Nice decoration.
A bit pricey for what we ate but overall a very good evening.
The steak was really really good. It's a really pleasant place to eat. The sauces and dessert really good too.
It wasn’t very busy but was hard to attract attention. On the flip side we had too much attention at key times like when we were eating.
One of the waiters was a little sharp
Set menu till 7pm was reasonable value service and Argentinian Malbec Tomero 2017 was great . Thanks
we went to the doggie brunch for my daughters' birthday... but there's no brunch at the Hampstead branch! we had a delicious lunch apart from the vegan main course, beetroot risotto, which two of our party ordered and said was very bland, and the portion was unnecessarily small, since the ingredients are very cheap. It was amazing to see so many dogs in one place, and they put out a red carpet, dog bone biscuits, and a VIP area, and all the dogs got a goodie bag to go.
The food is great and the service was excellent. It is a bit pricey but you get quality for the money. I'd certainly go back.
This restaurant gets better and better. Excellent management, service and the food it amazing
Great food and service. First time at the Hampstead restaurant but will go back.
Fabulous steaks as always plus beautiful accompaniments. Highly recommend the humitas.
If you fancy a steak, this is the place to go.
If you have room for dessert, the dulce de leche cheesecake is divine!
My steak was great and the wine selection ok . Service was reasonably attentive and good . However, The prices charged are , even for London , unacceptable . I will not be back
Our waitress was extremely attentive, friendly, informative and efficient and the service & food was excellent.
Another evening dinner at one of our favourite restaurants. From the door greeters to all of the staff they are professional and make you feel most welcome. The service was excellent, the steaks succulent - cooked as requested, and the wine list varied. A great meal and we'll be back soon.
Amazing bday dinner
Very cool and sublime service and food
Couldn’t ask for better
Great steaks, friendly staff and good Argentinian wine list made for a great evening. Decor is a little dated and a shade pricey, but relatively minor points that would stop us going again.
Everything was perfect - nice food, very polite and attentive staff.
A constructive suggestion would be to make the disabled toilet brighter. The baby changing facility is in there and it was so dark for nappy changing.
Excellent service and great idea to have the dog Sunday
Love visiting this restaurant but usually only in the week. I wouldn't come again on a Saturday as our table wasn't ready when we arrived and there were no seats left at the bar. Our order was wrong, got mash potatoes instead of mushrooms but that was quickly rectified. When i asked for the bill, we got someone else's but again, was quickly given the correct one.
