Proudly situated in the Hampstead Village community, with its quaint alleyways and perfectly preserved Georgian buildings, Gaucho Hampstead is a neighbourhood retreat in North London.
A stone’s throw from Hampstead Heath, our welcoming and contemporary interiors are the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed lunch, an after school treat or you can join us with the whole family on a Sunday for one of our legendary roasts.
One of our favourite features of the restaurant is our stunning, courtyard terrace with a traditional ‘Asado’ fire pit – where we barbeque in the summer and snuggle with blankets in the winter.
For all you Hampstead dog walkers, four-legged friends are always welcome for when you are snout and about.

Didn’t take the order correctly and subsequently made a mess of delivery!!!
Service was very slow, wine was ludicrously over priced for the quality and food was bland. Sirloin was ordered medium rare but delivered well done and tepid. Chimichurri was clearly made by someone who has never been to Argentina. Overall it was dreadful.
Sehr gutes Ambiente und exzellentes Fleisch
Excellent meat which is the main point of going to Gaucho. What makes it special is the manager and staff who looked after us and welcomed our small dog.
Wonderful meal in an elegant atmosphere. The chateaubriand for two was awesome—perfectly cooked and delicious.
I made a late booking on Saturday night for a 23:00 table - my experience was awful as the eastern european woman seemed like she wanted to rush us out the restaurant and I had to ask for basic things like the menu - I should have removed the service charge as I have been here before and had a great time
I am hoping maybe it was just a one off and the waitress was just having a bad day
loved Gauchos Hampstead. great service and great food!
Having made many visits to Gaucho in the past, I was highly disappointed this time. Although the set menu of £30 for two courses and a glass of wine is reasonable, it was unremarkable. My starter of tuna was bland and for my main course I was served a tiny piece of sea trout that was way over cooked, totally dried out and chewy and I could only eat two mouthfuls. I mentioned this to the waiter when he asked if everything was ok and with surprise he asked what I wanted him to do about it!
My friends steak was also very bland but as we were rushing to the cinema we didn’t have time to discuss further so we paid and left.
I’ve been to Gaucho Richmond a number of times and it was one of our favourite restaurants to visit on a special occasion. The service and food was always excellent.
We’ve moved house and our closest Gaucho is the Hampstead branch so we were excited to check it out. We couldn’t believe the difference in experience.
It was a special occasion for myself so I invited my girlfriend and a couple of friends along to celebrate.
The service was very slow and uninterested. My steak wasn't of the usual standard. It took us a while, to order our food, 20-30 minute before our mains plates were cleared. No check backs to see if our food was okay, or asked if wanted any condiments. Such a disappointment. We won’t be visiting Gaucho Hampstead again.
Chris and Matt were great hosts and the food was incredible.
I have been eating steaks most of my adult life and this was the no.1 steak I’ve ever had!
That is saying something. The fillet was so tender and flavoursome and their special home made steak sauce was delicious. Thank you to the chefs!
The service was 5 star and I can’t wait to go back.
My only disappointment is that I didn’t go before!
Thank you all for a great night.
We had an elegant meal in an attractive setting. The steak filets were exquisite. A memorable meal!
I really enjoyed the visit - the steak platter presented at the beginning of the meal enabled me to choose the right steak and the service was good - the only reason I did not give it a 5 was because the chips were overcooked
The best steak and prawns I have ever had and a beautiful Malbec to wash it down five star in every way ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We really enjoyed the whole experience
We were encouraged to try it out as they were offering a deal
Having been there we would definitely go back deal or no deal!
Great food as always - goes without saying!
We celebrated a birthday and the Goucho team couldn't have been more helpful with our cake that was absolutely massive.
We were also given some complimentary desert wine which was delicious.
Thank you guys for everything, we'll be back!
I used to be a regular at Gaucho. Although the staff was knowledgeable about the steaks and wine, I found the service a little slow and it was not even busy. There were 6 customers eating indoors and one sitting outside with her dog. The manager had to remove our starter plates.
We had to ask for our host several times at the beginning and remind our host about showing us the cuts. I am an impatient customer so a slow service is frustrating for me, especially, where I am familiar with the system of the restaurant.
The tail lomo had too much garlic, dry and burnt beneath, but could not be bothered to complain, I was on a date, so why would I ruin that. I shared my steak with my date who noted the same of the steak.
Other than that, I cannot fault the rest of the service. It is worth visiting this Gaucho when you want a quiet dinner as we were having.
Loved the food and the service from the waiting staff, all so polite and attentive. The only reason why I’m not giving it full marks is because we had to half an hour to be seated even though we had made reservations and were 5 minutes early. Apart from that everything was great and would definitely come back again.
Lame and old fashioned. So much better steak in London.
The food was delicious and the staff were outstanding. We would definitely go back again.
The food was lovely and we were even given a treat from the waitress as it was a special occassion, which was a nice touch. The only thing I found very unprofessional was the waitress and another member of staff argueing in front of us. They should have taken their disagreement away from the customers.
The place is lovely and very nicely decorated but for s Friday night it was empty. We counted a handful of tables. The menu was as we imagined. The prices were very high. Steaks were all good. Though all arrived on the cold side. Everything was on top £5 for a Mingy and very badly seasoned broccoli and £5 for chips. (They were nice). Service was good. The place lacked ambiance and the bill was high for what we actually ate. No starters no desserts 2 adult steaks and 2 child’s ones couple of sides and a bottle of wine £162.
Good Quality and friendly service
We had an amazing time. Being well looked after by staff and our meal was excellent.
Gaucho Hampstead is so special, lovely interiors, lots of light and a cute little garden at the back! Plus service was incredibly polite and friendly
My wife and I had an impromptu date night and decided to visit Gaucho since we had not been for a while. It was great as always!
Was really excited to go here for my boyfriends birthday. The food was just a bit meh. The steak was flavourless and the sides were nothing to write home about. The staff were lovely. But overall just left feeling disappointed.
Fantastic time at Gaucho for the bottomless steak and wine offer.
Great service and great cuisine.
The food was very good and was reasonably fast, service was ok in general but the waiter that waited on our table was quite rude, impatient, when asked for details around dishes he was rushing me and didn’t want to explain, we were only the 2nd table at the time so he was definitely not busy, apart from him all the other staff were friendly and responsive
Nice atmosphere, quality food, attentive service. All good!
We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch at Gaucho. The food was delicious. Our waiter was lovely. It is a strange place. Huge like a nightclub. Empty. We had a table at the back and had daylight.
the steak is superb! it always is. I had a delicious and beautifully presented starter (flower courgette) - all in all, a lovely lunch. I love coming here but it's a little expensive so only come occasionally
Fabulous choice of the best Argentinian beef. Very well informed waiter. Prompt courteous service. Mouth wateringly wonderful fillet steak, spiral cut with delicious vegetables.
Only downside were the 2 (non service) dogs. One small poodle yapped for ages under a table 😟
Didn’t expect to see them in a restaurant
We went there on Father’s day for lunch. The front of house manager is excellent, the best i have seen, constantly checking on all aspects with an eye on every detail, but not intrusive. The food was great, had a mix of a la carte and the lunch menu, the courgette flower was v good and the churrasco de lomo steak worth the money. Would go again.
Fair enough fish finger and chips may not be the 'signature' dish but fish finger is not fresh, and only come with 1 piece, a rip off.
Would be nice if we were told our set lunch steak does not come with greens, at these restaurant I would expect to see some 'presentation' rather than a piece of meat on a plain white plate. Spoilt the appetite.
Steak (fillet and sirloin) is lovely and tender and tasty , but we are all thirsty after...
Always enjoy going there. Especially dog friendly and good food too.
I love this kind of Argentinian food and Gaucho does it beautifully. It's quite above our price range, so only for an occasional treat.
An early Saturday evening (1900hrs) with friends and the restaurant was filling up. The steaks are excellent and cooked as requested. The service was a little slow and was, probably, down to the fact the restaurant was really busy. We eat at Gaucho Hampstead from time to time and always enjoy our visits.
We visited Gaucho for a 70th birthday celebration with a party of 12 - it was fabulous.
Age ranged from 7 to 70 and we had a couple of dietary requirements - menus more than accommodated.
Out of 12 - only 2 did not eat meat, those who did commented it was some of the best they had eaten.
Staff were attentive and very kind to the birthday guest - also hugely accommodating in receiving a delivered birthday cake.
We had a table nearer to the entrance which was ideal - little quieter than the main thoroughfare and perfect for a family celebration.
Taxi's were required at the end of the night and the staff assisted with this.
Bill was absolutely relative to what was consumed and I would consider it excellent value for money.
Great meat and flavors, very nice waiter and comfortable seating in the terrace
Dear Agathe, thank you for your nice review and very glad you had a nice experience. Looking forward having you back soon! Kind regards, Chris
