Wonderful food! Our server was friendly. It was just sooooo quiet because it’s a weeknight and the pandemic, we were the only customers between 7:40-9:00. I hope their business can sustain during these times because it’s a great place!
Conosco bene il posto e mi piace sempre
Had Sunday brunch at Gadsby's. The food was pretty good and it gave a very nice ambiance. I would recommend it.
Visited for brunch; very good experience and so much food we couldn’t finish it all. Will definitely be back!
My wife and I had such a great, romantic dinner. The ambiance was perfect. The portions of food were bigger than we expected.
The food was fantastic along with the service. A very cool place to dine if you are interested in American history.
Service and food were great! Ambiance of Historic
Inn where our first president's ate was wonderful with
colonial clad servers brought the time to life.
It was fabulous - great service, ambiance and delicious food.
Place is fantastic. Great option for a great dinner in Old town. I have been avoiding the place for years because I figured it would be an overpriced tourist trap with poor food. Just the Opposite --- great menu and great food and would rank as moderate for Old Town. A huge NY Strip for $28 is pretty damn good for this area and the kids $10 Cheeseburger was enormous and my kids said it was fantastic. They have a fulll bar too. Very very pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is awesome and its cool to know its been around since 1770 and has served G. Washington, John Adams, Thos. Jefferson, James Madison and others.
Overall service and food excellent, but I was sat by front door, table just on the other side of the partition from front door. Each time new people entered, I got a blast of outside cold air. Would have been perfect dinner if I was sat away from the front door during the winter!
Our favorite restaurant in Old Town! Recommend it to anyone.
A great place to eat. Atmosphere is fantastic, staff polite, friendly and professional. Food is excellent. My wife and I try to eat there every month or so.
What a lovely ambiance in an historic setting. Excellent food. A treat.
The food was excellent and the ambiance was what you would expect for a tavern. Excellent choice!
Wish I had come many years ago. Wonderful experience and delightful server, Nicole. Thank you
Delicious meal and wonderful hospitality!
Fantastic meal followed by great conversation with your charming and gracious staff. What a beautifully appointed historic place. Thank you for such a lovely lunch!!
We had our New Year's Eve dinner at Gadsbys Tavern Restaurant last December 31. My family loved the colonial ambiance and the US history behind the Tavern. The food was great, they had a special menu served for New Year's Eve. It was pricey, but worth it. Perfect for special occasions. It was one of our New Year's Eve highlights. We had a great time. Thank you for the wonderful experience. Happy New Year and cheers to 2021! :)
Dining at Gadsby’s Tavern on New Years Eve has become an annual tradition for us and this year didn’t disappoint. We were concerned that COVID dining restrictions would dampen the ambiance but it didn’t bother us in the least. We were seated immediately upon arriving for our 6:30pm reservation. Plenty of space between seated tables and all employees wore masks (properly!) the entire time. Our server Serene(sp?) was attentive and professional - we could not have asked for better. I ordered the fried oyster appetizer (delicious) and the Tavern salad which has a wonderful dressing. My partner ordered the Brie appetizer which was absolutely scrumptious. For the entree I normally order George Washington’s favorite duck dish (which is amazing), but this year I switched to the surf&turf which was equally delectable. I ordered my filet mignon medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. We ordered the NY cheesecake and honey cake for dessert - both delicious with an aperitif. Fun, friendly and reasonably priced - we love Gadsby’s Tavern!
My lobster was slightly undercooked.
Otherwise it was excellent. Enjoyed it very much
Delightful! Our family wanted a unique dining experience to celebrate the holidays. Gadsby’s did not disappoint. The dining area was quaint and private. The service outstanding and the food amazing. We will be back!
Nice change of cuisine from everyday fare. Attentive service. Great atmosphere and colonial decor. Very festive for holidays.
We took our son to celebrate his birthday. The staff did an excellent job with taking care of our table needs and our service. We had an awesome time with our server. We will go back after the COVID situation is better resovled.
To be honest it was horrible. I took my wife to Gadsby's Tavern for a 50th Birthday Celebration. We walked in and the unfriendly host looked at us like we didn't belong, not greeting us or anything. My wife asked the waitress if there were any holiday cocktails available sines it's near Christmas. She said "Not really, we have a bar so we can make drinks I guess" I asked her if they had any IPA Beers. She said "not really". When my wife's drink came out ( a lemon drop martini , it had no alcohol. I had to get them to remake the drink 3 times and it still wasn't good. The bartender/ host came over and argued with us that he knows how to make a lemon drop. The food was low grade, I got a steak, they put cheese on it and it didn't taste good. Needless to say we will NEVER got back to Gadsby's.
Very cool historic place. They had a very limited wine list and menu in general. The wedge salad was “deconstructed” and a little awkward to eat - and the dressing had horseradish in it which was a little weird. The crab cakes were very good. My party basically all for the same thing so I can’t comment on the rest is the menu. It was super hot in there though and the fireplace wasn’t even on. I had to go outside during dinner to catch my breath.
It was our first time here but from greeting to getting our drinks took 27 minutes to get to our table. I had the New York Strip steak (which was cold to the point the Gorgonzola cheese was melted at one point and had hardened again when it was set before me), Manhattan was pretty watered down (it sat too long), both beers I asked for were out of stock, staff didn’t ask if it was on the rocks or up (I got up, I prefer rocks) and when I ordered my Manhattan they said “don’t I need to ask you if you want a certain kind of alcohol in this?”, dishes were never cleared away throughout the meal, glasses were left empty, never was asked how the meal was at any point.
The apps were great (ham biscuits and Brie) but this took over 3 hours to get drinks, apps and entrées. We like longer dinners but goodness, won’t be back
My first time to visit and loved the atmosphere. Our waiter was superb.
The food and service was excellent. We felt that we were in Colonial times.
The food and the service were excellent. However, I was disappointed in the overall appearance of the venue in that the on-line photos depict the interior as being clean - IT IS NOT. I understand that the Tavern is to be a Colonial experience, however, the table top was sticky; the glassware was cloudy; and the walls in the room were dirty. In addition, neither the men's nor ladies' restroom had ANY toilet paper on the roll or set aside as an additional. It's a shame.
We enjoyed our food very much, I had the filet and my wife, the salmon. The service was very good when the staff was available, but there were a couple of periods when no waitress staff came into the dining room of say 5+ minute intervals. I had to get up and take my empty wine glass to the bar area to ask for another glass of wine. Waitress staff should not let so much time go bay without visiting the dining room to see if any customers require something. I "gut feel" is that this restaurant is undermanned of staff, possibly because of the fiscal restraints caused by the pandemic. The food was excellent, even the asparagus stems were tasty and tender. The service was very good, when the waitresses were available; but again, they are scrimping on manpower.
Great Service - wish I had remembered the lead waitresses name, but she did a GREAT JOB with a Great attitude for a party of 6!
Had a wonderful meal in a historical building. Loved finding the same staff from 2 years ago!!
Always consistently a great meal at a reasonable price (for Old Town).
Wonderful experience and the food was amazing!
Well seasoned, delicious food. Excellent service and enjoyable atmosphere. Easily carried on conversations.
We love Gadsby's Tavern. The ambiance is excellent and the food is very good. We love the history of the tavern.
I absolutely love this restaurant!!! It has such a cozy atmosphere and is very very old timey with the way the servers are dressed and how the menu is written. The only thing I wish is that they have more vegetarian/vegan options, but I know back then they probably didn't have vegan options, but it certainly would be nice to add to the menu! Also turkey bacon or " impossible " meat, hopefully they will add more to the menu. Great place overall.
Amazing meal, awesome ambiance. Great staff...definitely an experience!
Great place! Loved the history but their actor was not there due to covid...too bad. Good service and food. Will come back.
Gadsby’s is always a great gathering place. The food is delicious, wine selection is good, ambiance is delightful and the service is wonderful.
