Friends Sushi on Rush
What a delicious sushi option! I totally recommend it if you're looking for a nice sushi place right off Michigan Ave.
Very good value however, not good presentation. Much of the fish in the sushi was warm so concerned about freshness. Loud music and I hint of not being very clean.
Very beautiful restaurant the wife and I will definitely go back. Food was outstanding and the price is great especially for downtown Chicago.
We found this on Instagram, and we’re so pleased with the experience! Their speciality rolls are top notch and so fresh!
Great Sushi! It took a little bit to get served. I'm really glad I reserved through OpenTable though. I got a reservation for 15 min from the time I reserved. It was just the right amount of time to walk there from the hotel.
My wife truly enjoyed her sushi dish.
Only negative...it’s a very cramped place
A very chill atmosphere, excellent sushi very fresh. Would recommend this casual experience.
Good time and good food
Cute place. Very small. Hipster crowd. No complaints about the Sushi. The smoked salmon sashimi was generously cut and buttery. The nagiri was good too. The appetizer (a warm pork and shrimp roll) was new to me and very nice. The Miso soup was excellent.
Nothing was life changing, but everything was well done and a good value.
Maki was absolutely incredible.
Wanted to like this place but at the end of the day it wasn’t worth the money. Someone recommended it but we definitely have different taste buds. Only one of the 3 rolls we ordered was decent. Chairs are definitely too big for the space. Service was good and liked the touch of orange and cucumber in the water. Sorry but I wouldn’t go back.
The absolute best sushi I’ve had in 2019. Excellent ambiance, service, music, and cocktails. My new favorite sushi restaurant in Chicago.
I already have! The Miso Soup, seaweed salad and octopus and mackerel sashimis were delicious, fresh and beautifully presented. The service was pleasant and quick.
Great place definitely, recommend it. Nice atmosphere, great food, decent service and good location! Prices are reasonable, over all thumbs up for this sushi place its was my second visit and would definitely consider coming there again.
Sushi rolls were quite good but the tempura was not a light batter but more of a deep fried breading. Alos would be nice to be given plates to eat from even though the server said it was his job to clean up the mess on the table.
This restaurant is perfect for people that likes sushi.the ambiance is nice and the food is delocious
First visit to this small, quaint place, but for lack of size, they make up in wonderful food and excellent professional service. They had nice vegan and vegetarian options as well. I will definitely go back.
Service was really great even though it was very busy. Very very accommodating to special request and substitutions. New favorite spot.
Was a great experience! The food was fantastic!
Perfect spot to have a light meal while out and about. Our food came out quickly, and staff was courteous. Lychee martini was great for an afternoon sip!
Love the way they were able to accommodate my allergy restrictions. Very helpful, especially the waiter. He explained some of the rolls very well, in detail. Delicious maki rolls. Will definitely return.
Great Tako Yaki! The rolls were pretty good, and the sushi was delicious. The table setup was different but worked well. I did not seem to have a single waiter, a few people kept an eye on me and always checked on me.
Did I mention the Tako Yaki? It was delicious, hot and very authentic. If you want to experience Japanese food, try it.
I had come to Chicago for the 2Cellos concert. Sushi beforehand is a must, and Friends was the only place we could get reservations at at such short notice. The outside was nondescript, in fact we walked right past it the first time!
Once found (lol) we were assaulted by loud French elevator music. Meh. The decor was decent.
Now, let’s talk about the important stuff. Service was kind and accommodating. The menu was varied and encompassing.
Three adults and one 20 year old ordered lots of different rolls to try and share with the table.
We were not disappointed.
I will drive from Milwaukee to dine at Friends again. Please remember, thats 90 minutes in the car, $10 in tolls, and 2 hours of downtown parking.
Hands down, MOST EXCELLENT!!!
Love this restaurant. Great sushi and has excellent service. Very consistent ever since we've dined here from 2011.
This is my favorite sushi spot in Chicago! I love the vibe, and the food is always delicious. Lot's of vegetarian options, and everything tastes fresh. :)
Overall great quality restaurant. Lovely ambiance.
Excellent. One of the best sushi places in the city.
Food was tasty and didn’t take long. Staff was super nice and accommodating!
A friend and I picked this spot on a whim and it was amazing. It was a very cute place. There was garage parking and valet parking near by. Inside, it was a bit cramped. If there was 4 less tables, it would have been perfect. Overall, I definitely recommend if you’re in the city, looking for good sushi, and not wanting a loud and busy place.
Great sushi! Speedy too!!
Highly recommend... always good!!!
Recommend only people with knowledge of Sushi visit, as menu is not really explained by staff. Good food and fair price. Really cozy
Overall good. Just a bit on the noisy side.
Very accommodating. Reservations recommended as it is a small space.
Small, intimate sushi restaurant with a great menu and great sushi. Took a group of experienced sushi lovers and everyone loved it. I'll definitely be back.
Good food. Good time.
Everything was amazing. From the food, environment to the service.
We loved our experience!! we first got out of our taxi and looked at each other. We thought oh boy what did we get ourselves into.. But looks are deceiving!! We loved our experience and look forward to a return visit!!
We went to Friend's Sushi for my Wife's birthday and could not have been happier. Place was super easy to find, and the 360 pictures online would have made it a cinch if we hadn't. We split the crab cake and shrimp/vegetable tempura as an appetizer and hands down best crab cake I've ever eaten. I ordered the Friend's Sour for a mixed drink and damn was it tasty! Sushi was presented beautifully and very very tasty. Waiter was very attentive and professional. Also the style of the place was very crisp and comfortable. Zero complaints through the experience and can't wait to be back!
This place was very quaint however, a little cramped. We had to squeeze in our table and chairs. We had to sit on our coats. Cute, music was great.
Easy reservation thru OpenTable. Seated right away on a Friday night. Attentive service from start to finish. Fresh sushi fish, and vegetable tempura generous portion.
