Food and service were perfectly fine. However, the atmosphere was uncomfortable. From a woman next to us coughing loudly throughout the evening, to a loud inebriated group behind us, to a strange man singing to his date. More of a circus than a fine dining experience.
Disappointing. The steaks were good but very pricey. The sides lacked flavor and were barely warm. The bisque was not warm. Very subpar food for the high price. Likely would not return. Simply not worth the cost of three nice dinners elsewhere.
Outstanding dinner and drinks. Great place to celebrate birthdays.
I always love coming down to roanoke for the best steak in town so 😋 amazing job as always !👍
Based on reviews and price my expectations were not met. The food was good but no better than a middle quality steak restaurant which would’ve been half the price. The portion size what is sufficient but not as large as expected based on ounces that is on the steaks and the indication that the vegetables servings were family sized.
My husband and I had an excellent experience here!!! We were able to communicate directively regarding our business operations without any interruptions at all.
I work across the street at Alexander’s, but due to me working there, I am unable to enjoy a dinner, even as a well paying customer- I’m not allowed.
I’ve just learned of Frankie Rowland’s, and I will say, this restaurant is now, without a doubt, our choice of place to conduct all of our business relations, and even our new go-to if we just need a night out to relax!!!
It was very busy here on a Wednesday, which obviously means that it’s a 5 STAR establishment!
I will unquestionably recommend Frankie Rowland’s to any/every meritorious friend, family member, and client who is seeking to have an immensely satisfying, elegant, and pleasurable evening getaway or business conduction!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the admirable experience!!!
Great food! Great service!
We were celebrating our anniversary and when we were seated, it was next to a large table of about 14 small children who were extremely noisy and running around. Our service was delayed because our server had too many customers he was trying to take care of. My wife’s filet was good, my filet was a little tough but had a good flavor. Both were cooked to the correct doneness. The bruschetta with cheese had a little sour taste and the potatoes au gratin were very dry and not creamy and cheesy like they usually are. We did receive a complimentary creme brûlée from our server and it was very good. I was charged $16.00 for an old fashioned which I felt was extremely pricey!
We have always been very happy with Frankie Rowland’s. This was the first bad experience we have had.
We have recommended this restaurant in the past, but after last night’s experience, we would probably not say anything.
The steak was amazing as always but the oyster Rockefeller was less than desirable compared to every other time we have gotten them. Hopefully it was a supply chain issue instead of the new level of quality.
Excellent meal! The Creme Brule was out of this world delicious!!
Our table was ready when we arrived. Service was excellent and food was delicious. Perfect dining experience.
Well the service was great today!!! The food was outstanding as usual.
What kept me from giving five stars was the fact that the restaurant was almost empty and they put people in the seat right next to us instead of one of the more open tables to give everybody room …what goes through their mind I don’t understand???
The weight service is excellent. They did not rush us but were there when we needed them. 3 of us ordered the steak and it was cooked to perfection.. The 4th person got the salmon and it was wonderful too. The Brussels sprouts were good but not as good as we had remembered them but them. All in all, it was great!
Horrible service. Steak had to be sent back because it was rare, but came back charred so bad you could only taste burnt steak. Never had water refilled while eating said burnt steak. Overall service was horrible and unprofessional. Worst money I’ve ever spent on a meal
Food was amazing as usual, wonderful table, great waiters however the whole process took WAY too long …I get it you probably don’t have enough people…
My husband and I went here for our anniversary. The steak was ridiculously salty. Like so salty I couldn’t even finish it. Really tender, but still…really salty. The crab dip was good, but came with a side of stale crackers. We ended up eating it with the French bread that was on table. The lobster tail was delicious. Cooked perfectly. My husband loved the lamb chops. The martinis were really good also. Dessert was okay. Cheesecake came with this raspberry sauce that was sour and bitter and ended up eating the cheesecake without the sauce. Dinner ended up being about $300. Which was fine because the last time we went out like this was ten years ago. The servers were really nice and wonderful. The only thing that bothered me was my steak because it was about $57 and I could get a better steak at Texas Roadhouse for less than half that price. And half the salt, lol. But, we drank and had fun. If you go to dinner here, maybe get something seafood related and not steak related.
Decent service, nice atmosphere, food was so disappointing, will not return.
Waited for a while for table even with reservations. Both steaks were crispy and dry. Scalloped potatoes very greasy. Onion rings undercooked. Very disappointed in food. Server was excellent though.
Placed in the back with a large party of 30+ people with only one waitress. While the waitress was doing everything she could to serve all guests, she definitely could’ve used backup which she finally got after I got up from our table to find another server to inquire about our main course which took 30+ minutes to arrive after our table was cleared of appetizers.
The service was great. The food ranged from good to ok, but definitely not amazing. The prices compared to the taste were not on par with each other. Honestly, there are many other restaurants in Roanoke that I would rather dine at.
Side was cold and asked server to to reheat. We finished our steaks in the 20 minutes it took to reheat the side. Arrived as we were finished.
Very Good !
Husbands birthday. Meals, service, ambiance all outstanding. Best filet I have ever had!!
Bread was day old and cold; sides were warm and cool in middle - the re-heated - steak was fantastic. Service was friendly.
This is a high-end restaurant but you definitely get what you pay for!
We go for the Gnocchi but this time it was watery and tasteless. Augratin was runny too and tasted different. Had the bisque for the first time and it was AMAZING! Everything else was great as usual I just feel like someone new was cooking some of the stuff. Of course we will be back.
The was food was not as good as has been in the past. Salmon was dry. Overall service was excellent.. 3 out of 5.
Frankie Rowland’s is absolutely the best! My filet was cooked to perfection and the creme brûlée was wonderful! I crave their steaks and truly believe they are the best steakhouse I’ve been to, and I have eaten at a lot of steakhouses
Had a wonderful dinner as the staff were absolutely on top of everything.
The food was excellent. The service was even better.
We have been there many times and always enjoyed the food. This time the ny strip was so tough even cutting with their steak knives. The potatoes augratin were lacking in cheese and flavor. Too runny. The person next to us heard us tell waiter about steak and
said his ribeye was tough too. The scallop appetizer came out barely warm had to send back to heat more.
We arrived 15 minutes before our 7:30 reservation. We were seated in a half empty restaurant that appeared to have adequate staffing. Our lead server was inattentive and was missing for most of our three hour experience. We waited until 9:30 for our dinner. The steaks tasted like they had been under the heat lamp for half an hour and three of them were cooked incorrectly. At 10:15, after every single table in the restaurant had come and gone, we were sitting for another 20 minutes before the manager came over after making eye contact because our server had been MIA again. He asked how our experience was and was advised. He took off a $10 side of potatoes from one check. Our grand total time at the restaurant was about three hours. We have had great experiences at Frankie’s, even through the pandemic during staff shortages, but the staff last night seemed completely uninterested in even coming to touch base with us during this extra long dinner experience.
We were very disappointed that my fiancé’s parents drove three hours into town for this dinner and for the overall lack of quality in our food and dining experience. We have loved Frankie’s in past experiences, but do not know if we will return in the future due to inconsistency.
They have the best steak in town! Outstanding service.
Hostess was very friendly and welcoming. Drinks at the bar and service at the table were great! Food was outstanding. I will definitely go here again next time I’m in the area.
This restaurant blew me away all three nights I dined there on my trip to Roanoke. Top notch across the board. The maître d', Michael, runs this establishment like a Swiss watch, flawless. Excellent steaks and the best crab cakes I have ever tasted. Superb wine selection served by Jordan and Cristina, who are true pro's behind the bar. I was astonished how well all the staff work and communicate with each other. I have traveled the world and Frankie Rowlands Steak house is right at the top.
I can't say I'm a fancy guy, but my wife and I went here for her birthday. Food was amazing, staff was on point, although as the night carried on, it started getting a little loud. While the food was excellent, as someone who doesn't often spend more than $50 going out, the bill at the end was more than I've spend in a month on dining out before. Just wanted to put some perspective out there for other people who are usually on a budget and not used to fancy dining lol
The food was mediocre. Not worth the cost at all. The staff was very knowledgeable and the atmosphere was very nice. Don’t think we’ll be returning though.
The overall experience was excellent despite a few glitches. The food was excellent as expected. The wine was superb at a good price point. The bar was below par- this was disappointing.
Ordering and receiving drinks ridiculously slow. Numerous excuses were given- lack of glassware, new bartenders, not enough staff. Please fix all of these things!
Michael, the new manager is superb! He needs a raise already. He was working his butt off to make everything right. The restaurant was probably understaffed, and thus made the usual exceptional service only average. Despite the glitches, we had a lovely evening, and we will be back soon to our favorite restaurant!
Great food and nice environment
It was my birthday. Celebrating with family. Waitress was very good attentive and knowledgeable. The entrees were very good. One side was over cooked but all in all a good experience. Will return
