Went to see a show.
Was looking forward to going (visiting from out of town) but was very disappointed with our experience. Persecco was not cold, $61 steak was all fat and undercooked. My husbands shrimp scampi over rice was room temperature. My daughters pasta was blah and chicken parmigiana was over cooked and chewy. The prices are ridiculous to begin with so your expectations are high but quality of food was very low. It was also mentioned that it was my daughters birthday and nothing was acknowledged. Not a big deal but you’d think they would have at least offered to bring her a dessert. The only good thing about our experience was our charming waiter... that’s it. I’d never go back.
One of the few places that do calves liver and they do it well....
Just need to be careful as my guest wanted medium and most of the steak was more medium rare but he was able to eat the ends.
Had a party of 4. All had steaks (rib eye, sirloin and filet mignon)and all were superb. Had beef barley soup and J&F salads, which were also excellent. Sides included creamed spinach. Again this was outstanding. Deserts were apple strudel, chocolate mousse cake and cheese cake. Again, all were great. Service was impeccable. Quiet atmosphere was highly conducive to talking. Overall, a great dining experience!
Calves liver is great. Service excellent.
We were a table of 14 going to the theater. They accommodated us in an orderly delicious fashion.
Food was great. Service was slow
Easily in my top 3 steaks in the US! (Best in NY in my opinion)
I never miss it when in the city.
It’s dining experience tasted exactly like food service product.
Commercial, poor quality and ridiculously priced for the what you got
The place was virtual empty on a wed night when everything else on the street was jammed.
A sad sad place. Don’t go there
I've been a customer since the 1960s, and have never had a bad steak at the original or any subsequent location.
Outstanding steak and sides. A NYC gem we have always enjoyed
Always have a great meal at Frankie and Johnnie’s Steakhouse ..
the server are excellent..
Great dinner! Excellent service ! They know how to make your dining experience efficient but not rushed. Get you out in plenty of time to see a show!
Haven’t been to F&J since they moved from 45th street, so was looking forward to this. While the new establishment is bigger and more modern than the old one, everything continues to hold its mark of excellence. The atmosphere and mood were perfect, the drinks and food outstanding, and the service was superb. There’s nothing better than a proper steakhouse in the always-mediocre Times Square district. It was an absolute delight.
It’s nice ... after so many years of going to 45 st it is disappointing .... but will go back ...
Bartender ROXY is very nice ....
Tamas was very kind and knowledgeable about the specials and provided suggested.
to put the 20% Tip on the Bill is a absolute No Go! Tourist Trap.
Good steak, no anchovies on caesar salad, disappointing.
Great food and plenty of it.
The waiters stand transfixed, staring at the row of television monitors behind the bar. It’s Friday night and the four people in the dining room sit with drinks that need refreshing and steaks that are cooked to the wrong temperature. The Frankie and Johnnie’s that has been my favorite steakhouse for more than 30 years, is no more. Even the Frankie and Johnnie’s steak sauce tastes different - somehow watered down. One of the great steakhouses in NYC has become an overpriced tourist trap with terrible service and food that doesn’t warrant the hefty prices. And it hurts to write this, because this used to be my favorite restaurant, period.
The best service was from the bartender roxie! She was awesome! Beautiful personality and she makes great drinks! I want to thank the door hostess as well she was very accommodating while i waited for my date who was running late. These two ladies were great!! My waitress was not great, the food was not as expected. I guess because we ordered from the restaurant week menu, i have no clue but expected better from such a well known restaurant. The reviews and overview were misleading. I would return for the bar.
Great service by Tomas who set the stage for a wonderful meal with great food!
As far as great NY Steakhouses are and there are several of them, the steak at F & J's is as good as any of them.
Perfect after theatre spot. Had a special mother-daughter day on Saturday. We saw Tootsie and stopped at Frankie and Johnny's afterwards. Our waitress was terrific. Even sent me home with extra bones for my pup. The servers were funny and attentive. Not cheap, but what in Times Square is? The food was great, so were the people. Worth the trip. Thank you for making our day extra special.
Very nice theater menu. Steak was very good. Corn bisque exceptional. We actually went after shows started, so it was quiet and relaxed. Will be back.
We went during Restaurant Week and I thought the quantity of food was great for the price we paid. The only thing I was disappointed with was my steak, I thought it was a little tough. Other than that, the service was great and the food was outstanding. Will definitely go back!
the waiter did not serve/attend to my table ,as he did to the table nearby, where the man was ordering.
I had to ask several times for the status of the arrival of the food.
The food overall was very good! Relaxing and did not feel rushed. Recommend not sitting by bar as patrons can be noisy. Service was good by the staff however the waiter was not as friendly as I have had in the past.
We arrived at the restaurant for dinner before our broadway show. The waiter was so respectful of our time frame and made sure we ordered and everything came out promptly. The steaks and sides were all cooked to perfection . Highly recommend for high quality food with a comfortable and not stuffy environment
Great food, excellent service, nice ambiance
was able to make a last minute reservation close to our hotel. We were sat immediately and greeted by our server. She started a little cold but quickly warmed up to us and offered good suggestions. Our food was better than we expected, service was solid, ambience was nice. We enjoyed our meal and experience here. Would recommend.
Our favorite steakhouse in nyc. Great location near Times Square and the theater district. Great service. My husband can’t stop raving about the calves liver!
Service fine they substituted an item I did not want on my plate. Food cooked the way w wanted
Food was delicious
Great dinner for theater goers. Traditional NY steakhouse, delicious. Great service. Highly recommend!
Worst steak ever. Had to send it back twice. Ended up not eating. Manger didn’t even apologize. Used to love this place; extremely disappointing experience.
Fantastic atmosphere, better service!
Ordered a well done steak. First attempt was medium rare. Second attempt was medium well. At this point , my wife just ate soup and mashed potatoes. Manager did comp the steak but not the soup or dessert. Seriously? I can make a well done steak every night at my house. This is supposed to be a steakhouse. They should nail this. Then overheard the manager talking about us to another patron. Her excuse, 'This is what they tell me to do.' Take ownership for your kitchen.
