Lovely ambiance, great wine selection, terrific bar drinks, and fabulous food. Our waiter was outstanding.
Love this place. Great service, great food and delicious drinks. Thanks for the good time.
Great service. Menu was limited but the food was great. Definitely recommend.
Lovely dining experience with good food, wine, and service.
A great place for authentic Italian dining.
Amazing food, service with Gwen (:0)), and drinks-
Everything is always excellent at Fortunato! The staff is so nice and the food is so good!
The food and service at Fortunato are impeccable. I would recommend the place to anyone looking for a happy dining experience. My only quibble with the place is that it can be a bit loud, but that hasn't kept me from eagerly returning.
Birthday celebration for friend. Took our table of 7 ( I had put in 6) well and we sat right away. Appetizers and drinks served quickly. Pizza and main course took a little longer than expected and we were rushed in end. Over all very good. Food delicious.
We love this locally owned restaurant. The Restaurant is so beautiful and open. Located in Downtown Roanoke with Lots of Tall Windows and great ambiance. The food is creative and delicious with lots of umaimi. We love their whole Branzini and also they have delicious wood fired pizza which we like to use as an appetizer. Their wine and drink selections are wonderful.
Fortunato never disappoints: exceptional service and great food And ambiance.
Excellent service and great food.
We are from NY - which most consider a “culinary capital” - this was one of our top 10 meals! We are visiting our son at Virginia Tech and decided to go to Fortunatos because Blacksburg was full - no reservations anywhere. It was a last minute decision which we are so glad we made! To start we had the calamari which was cooked to perfection, it melted in your mouth and the roasted pepper sauce was to die for. For entrees the pasta was amazing! A great surprise that it was homemade which we didn’t realize when we made the reservation. Also ordered the Branzino which was so delicious. We couldn’t stop there! For dessert we had the homemade Zeppoli and the Tiramisu which was a deconstructed version in a glass. It was SO GOOD - if they had one “to go” I would have bought one for later! Overall the meal was exceptional and our server was so sweet and welcoming. It turned out to be a highlight of our trip! Thank you Fortunatos! We look forward to dining here on our VT visits for years to come!
Well done all around
We always have a great expierence at Fortunato. This was no exception. Thanks for putting the Muffalata Pizza on the menu to support Hurricane Ida Relief. It was delicious.
We love Fortunato, its been a while since we’ve been and it did not disappoint! Service, food and drinks were awesome! Hubby loved the Branzino & my eggplant parmigiana was delish! We will be back sooner then later!!
It is always a pleasure to have a meal at Fortunato. Their standard menu choices are top-notch, and there's always a special or two to tempt you. Also great cocktails and great wine list.
Fortunato's has never been anything short of amazing. Jeff always has great food coming out of the kitchen and their bartenders are second to none. I love this place.
Knowledgeable staff, great recommendations. Best melt in your mouth eggplant parmigiana I’ve ever tasted. Authentic atmosphere. I highly recommend Fortunato and will return.
Great place, great cocktails, great food. The Bismark. Longing for the Bismark.
Not my most favorite visit to Fortunato as the service wasn't at the usual superb level and the food, while excellent, took quite a while to arrive. With that said, it won't keep me from visiting again.
Food and service were fantastic!
Everything was fantastic. The local rabbit and pork terrine, the clams with smoked pancetta, and as always, the whole bronzino. The dangerous beauty cocktail was perfect, and our attentive waiter made great recommendation for wine. The meal was well paced and the house made tiramisu was decadent.
Fortunato is one of my favorite dining experiences in Roanoke. The staff are so friendly and engaging, the food is top-notch, and, best of all, the cocktails are out of this world! I try to introduce everyone I know to this fantastic place.
Excellent food, excellent menu, excellent service, and a perfect location for anyone going to a show at the Center in the Square or the Jefferson Center. My only quibble is that it's too noisy. Perhaps the management could consider adding some subtle noise-baffling features.
Servers here are always great, in our experience: cognizant of our (one) allergy, time constraints and happy to consult with their sommelier on wines, which have always been spot on.
Food and service were outstanding
I always love dining at Fortunato, the cocktails and mocktails are inventive and fresh, one of the best around town. The menu has items not found in other "Italian" restaurants, such as the octopus appetizer, which is tender and tasty, a favorite. Then we had the charred Escarole and Radicchio salad with pancetta bits and Romano cheese which was very tasty. I had the roasted Branzino Fish which is sweet tender white fish with a seasoned crispy skin, with a fruity flavored fennel salad, also a favorite (pretend I'm eating healthy). Husband had the Duck and Mushroom Ragu with pasta that melts in your mouth like grandma's homeade comfort food. There was a new dessert - a blackberry semifreddo if I remember, had crunchy almond flavor cookie bits and some candied citrus (which was a bit chewy though). It was one of the best frozen desserts I've had. Always a treat to dine there.
Fortunate is always a great experience.
All around excellent! Especially, Bret, out server for the evening.
Whiskey Sour cocktails were superb!
Fortunato is one of our favorite restaurants in the Roanoke area. We had another excellent dining experience last night. The Duck Ragu pasta dish was fantastic. My spouse had the whole fish which he said was just as good as the one he had in Florida recently. Their cocktails are always very good. Their recipes for them are different, unusual combinations always taste wonderful. Our server was excellent. She was right on top of things. Needless to say we will be back again.
Delicious food and wonderful atmosphere and decor! My daughter and granddaughter were visiting from MD. I made reservations at Fortunato since they had not eaten there. They have traveled to Italy several times and thought that Fortunato compared extremely favorably to the best restaurants throughout Italy. We booked reservations for their next trip to Roanoke when we left.
The restaurant was nice, but we got a new server who did not know what she was doing. The food was not typical of other Italian restaurants, and was not very good. The pasta dish we had was not sauced and so was dry, and my eggplant Parmesan was just a stack of eggplant slices covered with cheese and sauce and came in a tiny pot and was very difficult to eat. It was a mess. Not a do-over.
Introduced a new resident of Roanoke to Fortunato. She loved it as much as we have!
We were visiting Roanoke and found this restaurant. What a treat! Absolutely delicious! Excellent food, original dishes and priced well. The quaint location and decor make this a treasure. Must try. We had the eggplant dish and fresh fish! Homemade Lemoncello for dessert
Lovely as usual!
We had another wonderful experience at Fortunato. Great staff. They are welcoming and personable. We were never rushed to place our order and given great advice on choices. The food is delicious. The a Whole Grilled Branzino is fabulous as well as my husband’s favorite Duck Ragu! We will be back.
We had Louie, and he was great. The perfect amount of attentive and perfect help with the menu. The timing of each course was perfect. The apps came out super quick, and our entrees were ready only a few minutes after he cleared our table. We always love our visits to Fortunato.
Great food. A great bottle of wine for a reasonable price. Tried a lot of dishes, all great and flavorful.
Great service and the food we ordered was delicious.
Great food and great service, but too loud to fully enjoy our dinner.
