I truly love the Savory Tea because the sweets in the other sets becomes too much for me now in my mid 30s
Lovely food and great service. Not hassled to leave table after our 2 hours up. Can box up any left over cake to take home.
The only issue was we waited 30 minutes for our table even though we had reservations. Otherwise a very positive experience.
The service wasn’t good as previously experienced. The prices have also gone up and I didn’t think it was good value for money.
The prices on Open Table doesn’t reflect the new prices in the restaurant.
booked a couple of weeks in advance for a Saturday early evening tea. Scheduled for 5:30 pm arrive a little early but were not seated until about 5:50. Not a major issue at all but a little more communication from the staff would have been nice. Having said this and for balance they were very very busy. They also added a 'discretionary" 12.5% service charge to the bill. I would have tipped anyway, but this really annoys me, it is a pet peeve of mine, and I don't think reflects well on the establishment.
That is pretty much the only negative, the food was great, and the serving staff really helpful. The Scones were outstanding, really light inside, but with a bit of crunch to the outside. We asked for an additional serving of the cakes and I asked for a refresh of hot water in my tea but the waitress asked if I would like to try a different tea, which I did. this was bought very quickly and much appreciated.
The room itself was very nice and spacious but felt a tiny bit flat, this may have been due to the time of day, however, I don't think this detracted at all from my own personal enjoyment and would love to do it again.
I had never been to tea here before. However, I was extremely pleased with the levels of service. We arrived fractionally early and they were running slightly late, so they arranged a special place where we could sit and refresh. Then, nothing was too difficult – allergies were handled well and with care, and when we couldn't eat everything we were given packages of cakes to bring home. Overall I was extremely impressed even if the cost was slightly higher than I would normally pay for a high tea.
We had a good time but for the cost versus I felt the experience was a mismatch.
It was warm, busy, noisy, I needed to ask for drinks 3 times and we did not get asked for refill of tea.
For 70 GBP per head I think is not good enough.
My only criticism is we had to wait half an hour for our table to be ready and half an hour for our food to arrive. Fortnum’s staff gave us free champagne twice and the kids a special drink. But it was a very long wait with two children, given this afternoon tea was a special half term treat.
The taste of the desserts are excellent and I particularly fancy the scones and sandwiches with curry. To my surprise we can have as much food and drink as we wish. And the colour style is elegant, Tiffany blue perhaps?
Such an experience, came home with cake too. Would highly recommend to all.
It took almost 1 hour from we were seated until we got our food and drinks.
When we did get the tea, it had been left så long that it was cold - and we had to ask for a new
We asked for additional milk because the pot we got was only half-full, it took about 15 minutes to get it. By that time the tea in our cups were cold...
All in all the worst after-noon experience we have had in London
Standards have dropped considerably over the last couple of years. Price has also gone up recently. My last visit was comped as the service was so bad, so I was keen to see if it was a one off. Unfortunately it isn’t and if is clear the wait staff are over stretched - they used to proactively check if you needed more food, or fresh tea. These days you have to chase down the staff. Our waitress even removed empty plates without offering refills. Her apron was also filthy & in absolute tatters. Would recommend Claridges or Dorchester over Fortnum for the time being. Fortnum & Mason, you are meant to be a premium experience - stop penny pinching & take care of your staff.
The setting and atmosphere were enchanting. Sandwiches, scones and sweet treats were outstanding. Fabulous way to spend the afternoon with a friend or two.
Lovely experience and perfect for a special occasion. It is pricey but is lovely and very enjoyable
The food was very good. It took half an hour to be served for which we received an apology. We then had to wait for the food which came before the tea, which followed about 5 minutes later when we had started eating. The waiter was very friendly and helpful but even he had to keep apologising for further delays.
Wonderful day, gorgeous food and fantastic service. Only criticism is that the clotted cream was too hard to spread and so ruined every scone you tried to put it on. Change to a better cream and it will get 100% in every way from me.
We had a lovely time. The afternoon tea service was attentive without being intrusive. Our server was polite, smilie & always easy to find when needed.
The food was okay, we were disappointed by the lack of variety of breads used on the finger sandwiches. All white except the poppyseed used for the egg & cress. These were refilled quickly upon request much to the delight of the 11yearold with a salmon obsession.
The cakes from the trolley were lovely & generously sized. The sweet treats were all very tasty. They allowed us to take the leftover sweets home packed beautifully in a lovely paper box. It looked like a present.
Coffee was good & the tea options was slightly overwhelming. We got free glasses of champagne for booking through open table. The children got sparkling grape juice so they felt fancy too. We also ordered a jug of fresh lemonade which wasn’t over sweet.
Overall a fun day out. £358 for 6 ppl including one 8 yearold who had the kids afternoon tea as she’s a picky eater. The 11 yearold ate the regular afternoon tea.
The one major let down was the state of some of the crockery. All was very clean but was obviously very well used & worn with scuff marks & faded colouring from being washed loads of time.
Absolutely outstanding, I would recommend it to anyone
Front desk staff were so welcoming and Server Mami was excellent and knowledgeable about the teas. I am so grateful they offered both a vegan and vegetarian menu that allowed me still indulge!
I loved the ambience, the china, the live piano music. It was a wonderful day.
Best afternoon tea I’ve had, because you had a choice of savoury or sweet selection. My sister and I had one sweet one savoury. Great choice of teas, unlimited refills and unlimited glasses of water. Beautiful scones very fresh loved cheese and thyme varieties with savoury selection. Asked if we would like more sandwiches couldn’t resist more egg and coronation chicken. Waiter was very friendly nothing too much trouble. Shocked that when thought we had finished he suggested choosing from the cake table, I had to decline.
This was a lovely treat for my 50th. It felt decadent without being too posh. Good food & drink with great service.
Lovely venue, great service. Food ok, nothing special for the price charged
Very indulgent as I would expect. High level of service.
Slightly spoilt by being rushed out once our time limit was up. Started to clear table and pack things away whilst we were still eating and talking.
They fact they were then quiet with plenty of other available tables ruined it a bit as it was a special treat for a friend
Outstanding service, amazing food and nice atmosphere. I would visit here nex t time I am in london too
This was not my first time at F &M. I really love all the pomp & circumstance . However the server gave us the wrong tea & we kinda were misdirected in sitting at a noisy table with waiters coming & going. We would have preferred to wait for a more private table however I think the Hostess was new & I experienced & also the server. Our primary server was excellent however damage done. I will definitely go back but will definitely screen & ask more questions. Last time we came everything was perfect & servers were English & not new & inexperienced.
Todo delicioso, el lugar bello, la atención súper. No me gustaron mucho los dulces.
Can’t alter the sandwich fillings - eg) remove mustard or horseradish. For £60 per person this is poor.
A brilliant belated birthday treat for my friend who I hadn't seen for ages!
The service and food was impeccable. Marianna was friendly but not overbearing and the afternoon tea was delicious, nobody in my party of 5 (including a teenager and 10year old) had any complaints. A really lovely afternoon.
The whole experience was fabulous. The staff a very attentive, polite and helpful plus the savories, sandwiches and cakes are excellent.
First high tea experience.
I was very disappointed with the overall experience of this .
We had it as Christmas gift and wasnt to the expectation at all
They kicked us out without giving time warning nor giving second pot of tea. The restaurant wasn’t even crowded
A complete success. Worth every penny and easily a 'must' when we come back later in the year to London. Plenty of friendly staff and no difficulty having more of any of the food or tea when needed. Anything left was wrapped up nicely to take away. Wonderful atmosphere. A real joy.
We waited almost 20 minutes beyond our reservation time to be seated. Our waiter charged us for an extra person and when i noticed the error, he had to get a senior staff member to override the transaction and redo the bill. That staff member simply subtracted £60, leaving the percentage based tip the same as if we had been four guests. I had to correct that error as well. Then he could not get proper internet service in the section where we were seated so several times during the cancellation and redoing of the transacrion he had to leave our area with my card in the machine to another part of the restaurant. The whole process took close to 15 minutes. So very good food, attentive and knowledgeable waiter but unfortunate delay in getting seated and paying the bill.
The only real disappointment was that after spending £400 on Afternoon Tea for 6 - 4 of us had a glass of champagne, a service charge of £50 was added to our "bill" which we didn't pay we left our own "tip".
Great ambience, atmosphere and food was just wonderful! Service was impeccable and thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea. Will definitely be back again.
Very good everything was fantastic my son came late but they got him everything he asked for.I also was very surprised I had forgotten about my birthday the week before and the server came out singing happy birthday with cake with a candle and I had to shed a tear because it was a suprise .Fantastic time
