The waitress serving me was very nice and caring. Her service is very good.
We enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea. Food was delicious. We had booked but service was a little slow to start with. It was a busy time around the holidays restaurant was a little loud.
Overall a lovely experience with plenty of choice and excellent service. My only criticism is that some of the sandwiches were a little dry and some of the varieties lacked filling . But all very tasty and beautifully presented and served.
We had a wonderful afternoon tea. The food and salon was beautiful and our server was delightful. We would definitely visit again.
My only complaint would be that the ham sandwich had a lot of fat in it, which I left on the plate. Everything out really good and plenty of it.
Very elegant experience with a high-class feel to everything (food, china, servers, etc.).
The restaurant itself is very nice, luxurious and service was excellent. However, I feel like the afternoon tea set was not worth the cost. It was £60~62 per person and the food that came with the set was not that good and overall it wasn't worth the money.
I love Fortnum’s and buy provisions from them regularly but had never had afternoon tea there. I booked for myself, my son and friend as a treat after we’d been to an exhibition and after doing some Christmas shopping In Fortnum’s, we went excitedly to the fourth floor. We were shown to our seat and waited for almost half an hour before a waiter appeared. Normally you are seated and your chair is pushed in and a stiff linen napkin is placed in your lap. Sadly we were pointed to the table and the waitress left us ti it before a waiter who barely acknowledged us appeared. Three wonky, misshapen cake stands were placed before us ti my surprise. The sandwiches were nice as were the scones but the cakes were awful. Little more than a selection of Iver sweet sweeties - they bore little resemblance to cakes at all. To top it all, the waiter dropped spent tealeaves all over the floor and did nothing to clean them up. We were charged £22.50 as a service charge for what was a substandard tea with little or no service. We paid and left after just over an hour, ti our disappointment. Dalloway Terrace and St Paul’s Cathedral afternoon teas are better value and far superior quality. The Savoy and the Ritz offer a luxury experience that unwound highly recommend, as do Claridges
Best afternoon tea in London
Wonderful ambience for afternoon tea. We had a great table right by the window overlooking Piccadilly. The sandwiches were delicious and they offer you more if you want which we did..... however they took 20 mins to arrive by which time the scones were completely cold. Service was ok but slow. No one told us that cake was available from
Trolley it was only because I’d read about it previously that I knew. Overall was a lovely experience, waitress was friendly and the food was delicious. Pricey but worth it for a special treat.
Our party of six had a spacious table which looked very pretty and festive. The afternoon tea food choices were really good and the choice of teas was amazing. Also enjoyed the very nice champagne. We were looked after fairly well and didn't feel rushed.
Thank you, we really enjoyed our festive afternoon tea at Fortnums.
Another gorgeous afternoon tea at F&M. We chose the "high tea" option this time and added a glass of fizz - I had brill and lobster with a champagne sauce and my friend when for the Welsh rarebit - we both really enjoyed our choices. The scones were warm, fluffy and when covered in cream and lemon curd, absolutely delicious. A beautiful selection of cakes on the top tier, in particular the gingerbread loaf.....yum yum. Plus we both had a slice of the battenburg, mandatory when I have tea here!! Lovely china in which the tea/coffee is served and such a wonderful ambience in the tea salon. Josef, our waiter was also super friendly and helpful.
My favourite venue for afternoon tea and a guilty pleasure in the run up to Christmas as the store is so beautifully decorated.
Would suggest to a friend but would recommend other places
Waiters were knowledgable and very friendly. Attentive but not overbearing. A truly unforgettable and impressive Christmas treat.
Despite arriving on time for a booking we had made 3 months ahead, we had to wait over 20 mins for our table to be ready and another 25 mins for the food, which was excessive given that the choice is between set menus, rather than an à la carte selection. So, the 1 3/4 hrs that we had assumed would be ample turned out to be barely sufficient. This meant that it was not the relaxed treat that it should have been given the hefty price tag, which was not justified on the food alone.
Staff were so lovely, friendly and helpful. The room we were in was quieter than the main rooms which was good. Food delicious we really enjoyed everything. Piano music was good too.
Great food, excellent service exceeded our expectations at every level. Although teh restaurant was busy we never felt that we were being rushed. The kevel of servioce is helped by teh number of waiters and waitresses they have working here - they seem to work really well as a team.
The place is really nice and overall we had a wonderful time.
Things I liked: there’s a good range of teas available to choose and you can get as much as you need. You don’t need to stick to a particular tea, when they bring you a new pot, you can change the flavour.
The scones are absolutely delicious! The sandwiches are also good. They also bring more food if you want to.
Whatever you haven’t finished, you can take in a doggy bag. They also give you a jar of lemon curd and jam as the ones you have during the tea.
The staff were amazing and super helpful.
Cons: some of the crockery we had looked a bit old, worn out, which for a £60 tea, and the fact that F&M also sell their own cups and saucers, these should look like new.
A very special occasion. Perfect in every way. A real treat
Piuttosto deludente: sala rumorosa, camerieri distratti, cibo niente di speciale. Per il prezzo che si paga ci si aspetta di più
Beautiful surroundings for afternoon tea with outstanding service. Sandwiches were fresh, tasty and plentiful as were the cakes. The tea was amazing. Great for a special occasion.
It was not the experience we expected.
There was a few simple things that could have been done much better.
Service was ok but added £7.50 per head service charge per person which seemed a bit excessive
I had high hopes for this experience. I was very excited based on others experiences. I was greeted promptly and shown to a lovely table and my order was taken rather quickly as well. About half way through is where everything went sideways. My server disappeared and never returned, I guess she moved to another section. I received leftover attention ( I sat for 20 minutes just to request another glass of water, tea was long gone by then as well). Food was typical for tea, scones were lovely. Once I was over I got quite sick immediately after it. I let a manager in the store know as by then the room was overpowering and I wanted to get out. Nothing was really done except to ask if I was ok now. I’m very disappointed in this experience as I had hoped for a wonderful experience and came away regretting it. (I will say the tables surrounding me did seem to get much better service so it may have just been my server)
It’s very pretty and you’re on the 4th floor, away from the throng. We went on one of the busiest shopping days of the year, but the tea salon was still relatively calm and peaceful. The service was wonderful and we had a fabulous time. They yuzu cake was incredible! They also have some really interesting tea choices, like a savoury afternoon tea. It reminded me a lot of afternoon tea at the langham, but less formal.
Was absolutely beautiful from start to finish, made to feel very special on our anniversary. Staff were all extremely friendly and professional.
Service wasn’t the best, but the manager sorted this and really looked after us. It’s a lovely experience overall, not the cheapest, but worth it for a treat.
Lovely for a birthday
Our waiter Chris was extremely nice and helpful even though he seemed a bit overwhelmed with so many tables and little help. Food was delicious and the takeaway slice at the end of the meal was the cherry on top.
A first class experience. This is our favourite when we come back to the UK.
Although we had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated the service once we were was exceptional. Our waiter Charles was kind and extremely helpful with nothing being too much trouble. The food was good and the tea was delicious. For the price, there are a couple of things that could be improved upon but Charles made the experience a lovely one that my Mother, Auntie and I thoroughly enjoyed.
There was a wide range of food, delicious and fine cakes and sandwiches. ( spectacluar service, good enviroment)
My daughter and I went to afternoon tea during a family trip to London.
Christmas present absolutely fabulous x
The service is all standing and waitress is pretty kind to us. But that’s the taste of the food is not very suit for our usual flavor (Asian taste). Anyway, it’s a quiet special experience. Thanks for your hospitality.
The Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon is a beautiful location to spend time in. The staff were friendly and the food was fantastic. We had one Savoury Tea and one Classic Tea to share between us which provided a lovely variety of savoury and sweet treats. A most enjoyable experience.
Always excellent. Have been coming to Fortnums since I was a child and it is always top notch. It is the only place we send friends when they are in town.
First waiter was extremely rude and condescending, but the next ladies who assisted us were extremely hospitable and made our high tea experience delightful.
The evening was lovely, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The service was a bit slow and I would have liked to receive the food at the same time as the tea. We had to wait a good bit for the tea to arrive.
A perfect treat to restore after an afternoon ‘s shopping.
Our server was from an agency as they were fearfully busy and that showed. It really detracted from the experience and was nowhere like as good as our previous visit.
Domenico (one of the team leaders) saved the day and was fabulous.
This should be a memorable experience and it is priced accordingly.
