Fortnum & Mason Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon
I have never been treated so poorly by the waitress. I counted on my watch 40 minutes that she did not stop at our table. She serviced every table around us. It is a tea experience.....I was only able to order 1 tea. I will never return.
It was a very special treat for us to meet my British nanny for tea at Fortum and Mason. We found the people that worked in the tea room to be extremely polite and nice and helpful.
It was disappointing that you were out of many things that were on the menu.
I found the service was slow. We were not attended to well. For 4 of us the bill was 300$i think that’s ridiculous. We had high tea at Hamyard Hotel in their beautiful patio, scones , cakes , clotted cream tea etc and it was 30$. I was really disappointed with Fortum and Mason. I just felt ripped off.
The finger sandwiches I could have made at home and I am nothing of a cook. The sweets were nice. The service was bad. I was only able to try to different tees and sat for two long whils with no tea. They applied a 12 1/2% service fee and I would have left no tip. They are clearly resting on their laurels. I could have put this tea on and I know nothing of tea.
My Wife’s birthday, staff were very friendly and efficient, nothing to much trouble
Room was air conditioned, very comfortable
Choice of food and teas all excellent and we were offered more, a lovely afternoon
The tea and good was very good. Also the room was very beautiful.
Fortnum and Mason is a heavenly treat me that I look forward to on my yearly visits to London.
Magical...is the best word to describe this beautiful shopping experience.
This was my first time indulging in the Afternoon Tea Experience which was purely DIVINE.
Expensive but worth it for a sense of occasion. The waiting staff are first class and the room has a deep underlying quality. Silver cutlery and beautiful linen napkins keep everything up to scratch. The selection of teas available is revelatory and the refills come on request. At the end of afternoon tea, we had apparently not eaten enough cake, so beautiful slices of chocolate gateaux were boxed and pressed on us. My daughter aged 9 was the birthday girl and she pronounced it the best ever.
So sad, this was our second visit and the service was not great on this visit- we appreciate that it was busy, but we were left for long periods waiting for tea, water and we were not offered any cakes from the cake trolley as suggested in the menu.
Very expensive and we wouldn’t mind paying for service if it had been up to scratch - having over 16 pounds added for poor service was a bit much.
On the basis of this visit I would not recommend or visit again - such a shame as our first visit was amazing.
The venue is superb, classic afternoon tea was delicious but service was very poor. Had to wait 20 minutes for sandwiches and 25 minutes for an extra pot of tea!!! For £55 each you would expect swifter service.
Service was wonderful. Waiter was very insightful in helping to pick the perfect tea. Food was delicious.
Almost perfect except the costs. Almost perfect except the costs. Almost perfect except the costs. Almost perfect except the costs. Almost perfect except the costs. Easy to make an appointment and good environments.
Il The è stato servito molto male lasciandolo in infusione e rovinando il sapore, i sandwich buoni ma scarsi e poco riginali , gli scones buoni, i dolci piuttosto cattivi! Esageratamente costoso per ciò che offre! Sconsigliato!!!!
Food was good but service was very poor and disappointing - no regular check in's to see if we had everything we needed, no offer of additional sandwiches / cakes etc. We have visited on 3 previous occasions and the service was much more personal on those times that this visit.
We had to ask for water. Only two afternoon teas arrived we had to ask for the third. The late one was not the Dairy Free one, which we may of expected. We have been before and returned as we had such a good experience the first time round but this time it was rather disappointing. Not as attentive.
Great afternoon tea, I was prerared for overpriced experience and it was just that. Outstanding tea and fresh scones. Beautiful colors/ambiance- though it was too loud. Glad I tried it, probably won't return for second visit...but would recommend it.
Overall good but I would not recommend a late booking- we had the last sitting of the day at 7pm. However we were constantly reminded that the kitchen was about to close so they may not be able to provide refills etc. Also felt quite hurried towards the end and no atmosphere as the whole room was cleaned up around us. If you’re going to go- don’t go later than 5.30
Good food and service. But doesn't warrant the price. The only option is a full tea menu, with too much food and very expensive.
Lovely place for a very traditional afternoon tea. Keep in mind that everything is bottomless so do not hesitate on asking for more of your favourite tea, scones, sandwiches or cake.
On arrival I was warned that I could only be seated at the table for 1 hour 30 mins maximum so I sat by the lift until my friend arrived a few minutes later. Once seated, we waited 10 minutes before our server arrived so I was worried that the clock was ticking and we would be rushed through.
However, this was not the case and as it was the end of the day we were there for more than 2 hours.
Sandwiches were fresh and they catered for my allergies. They also offered to replenish. Scones were delicious and our server offered to box some up to take home (also came with lemon curd and jam!). We were both given a plate of cakes but by that time we could not really do them justice - they also offered us o box them up to take home ( we declined!). Finally we were shown the cake trolley so that they could box up a big slice of cake to take home!
We left 2 hours later with 4 beautifully wrapped boxes (2 each) to take home.
Delicious food, great service and I would return.
A birthday treat for my husband which exceeded expectations! We were given excellent service
throughout and after feeling ready to burst! We were invited to choose yet another cake and was
surprised when out came another Slice of cake with a candle on it together with the singing
of Happy Birthday accompanied by the pianist! Overall a memorable experience!
We had an excellent experience and really loved every moment. The savory scones were my favorite.
Amazing tea time experience!
I am pleased I hadnt read some of the negative reviews before hand as the experience my friend & I had was very good. Chris our waiter could not have been more attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Neither of us like smoked salmon and he was more than happy to substitute for another filling of our choice. It was my birthday and at the end of our delicious afternoon tea I was presented with a slice of birthday cake. We werent able to eat everything so a lovely goodie box (with extras) was presented to us. A lovely birthday treat along with a choice of champagne. I would certainly recommend.
Bliss took wonderful care with us and even helped my husband celebrate his 60th birthday.
I have been before and totally loved the experience but this time I found that the service was slow and we had to ask for the tea to be served. On the third attempt we got our tea, but by this point we had eaten most of the sandwiches. The savoury plate was disappointing as it was trying to look like little cakes when really a meat pie or sausage roll would have been amazing, rather than a pea mousse. I doubt I will go again.
The tea was nice , service slow and very expensive for what it was . I am p!eased we did it , but wouldn't do it again
Excellent afternoon tea and the staff were really lovely.
Tourist trap! The bread was stale on our sandwiches and the food overall was definitely not worth the price.
So British! So wonderful!
The highlight of our London visit.
There was a lack of polish of the service, which wasn't expected for the prestigious of the institution.
Pricey but perfect!
Service was not as perfect enough to match the price
Whereas the food was very good and our likes and dislikes catered for, the service was not up to the level I would expect for the cost. Firstly with a booked time I would expect to be seated within a few minutes, but we were kept waiting some 20 minutes. We then had to wait nearly another 10 minutes or so before someone even came to take our order and then they spoke so quietly I could not hear because of the background noise. Ensuring they understood what we wanted was an effort. I had ordered a beer for starters and had asked to get this before the tea. But it came with the tea which was still at least a 10 minute wait. How long does it take to get a beer. Then the waitress just tipped it into the glass resulting in the too much foam. Someone needs to instruct how to pour a beer.
It was some 40 minutes from our arrival that we finally got our afternoon tea. It was after we had eaten the sandwiches, scones and cakes that they asked if we wanted more sandwiches or anything else. A bit late. There was no checking back to see if all was well and if seeing the sandwiches gone, then asked if we wanted more. The first pot of tea was not hot and my wife who only drinks coffee was delivered a half of a cup without saucer which was plonked on the table beside the laid cup and saucer. A request for a refill brought another half cup. Our third request with a request to top it up with hot water resulted in the usual half cup but the waitress then topping it up at the table from a pot of hot water which was then taken away. Why on earth did they not provide a pot of coffee.
We did have more than enough to eat and it was all very tasty, but give me the Ritz attention and service anytime.
Hugely disappointing experience. Booking afternoon tea on our first trip to London was a must for my daughter and I. After looking at a few options, we booked Fortnum and Mason expecting that it would be a great experience. Especially at their hefty price. First off, the store is beautiful and got us really excited to be spoiled and enjoy afternoon tea. We arrived for our booking, was seated and waited to be served. We had to ask a server to take our orders. We were not explained how the tea service worked or what our options were. Our server was timid and reluctant to serve us. I had to ask on 2 separate occasions for more hot water for our tea pots. We asked for more sandwiches and scones and never received them. after asking twice, a different server brought us a single scone on a plate. Pathetic. It was the wrong scone flavour too. Then we had to ask a third time for our sandwiches to be brought out. We asked for 2 of 2 different flavors. We got one single sandwich on a plate. Pathetic again. We were so frustrated and disappointed. We left. We have enjoyed high tea at other places and were hugely disappointed with Fortnum and Mason. Then to pay the hefty bill for a poor tea service made it worst. Don't bother, I'm sure afternoon tea at a local cafe would be 100% better than F&M.
Attentive but not intrusive staff. Delicious sandwiches, scones perfection, mini cakes were a blast to the senses and then cake we could takeaway! On top of that proper tea in a proper pot, perfect treat for a Birthday Tea.
I was excited for my first afternoon tea while in London. Fortnum and Mason is a classic known for this.
Good: Piano played lovely music to listen to. The rooms are beautiful Tiffany blue. Lots to explore on the way up to the tea room - shopping different goods etc. The little desserts are delicious and decadent. The sandwiches are good and light. Enjoyed tasting clotted cream and various tea selection.
Bad: The service was terrible. It took 10 mins for our server to greet us. No discussion on first time, tea reccos or anything. When the food came we had question on clotted cream or jam first and our server didn't check in for another 30 mins. I was hoping it'd be a bit more intimate and they'd explain teas/the history of F&M etc but came away feeling a bit 'factory esq'. Perhaps July is just a busy time.
A wonderful experience I hope to do again soon on my next visit.
Service was very slow we got our tea not l9ng after been seated but waited nearly an hour for our sandwiches etc. We had to chase up with a manager. Overall a good experience.
Tea and Food was very good but they didnt tell us that we could repeat as much times as we want and also didnt tell us that we could eat cakes until we asked for them.
Food was delicate and every bite was a taste sensation. It would have been nice to have teapots refreshed. We waited over 30mins to be seated despite having booked and arriving in on time - there were no seats available in the waiting area
