Fortnum & Mason Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon
An absolute treat. The service was impeccable, especially from such a young waiter who was just the right amount of attentive, very knowledgeable and chatty. The beef was Divine and patisserie selection delicious. It was all simply perfect.
Amazing experience, I couldn’t recommend it highly enough! A must-do when in London!
A very gentle and welcoming experience at Fortnum and Masons. The staff were knowledgeable and courteous with just the right amount of service to make you feel important and valued.
It was our first time for high tea in London. Fortnum’s was recommended to us by several people. In true British institution form, it did not disappoint. The food was amazing as was the service. Definitely recommended.
It was very Nice!! I will visit it over 3 Months again!!
The food wasn't great as sandwiches were dry and hard, but service was impeccable and ambiance was great
Very serice orientate staff, the tea and food are fresh and delicious
It was unfortunate we had so few options and our wait staff was not accommodating, but rather felt judgemental. The ambiance was nice, but we felt rushed and not appreciated. Tea was delightful, and the champagne was good, however, the feeling of being up sold was very disinviting.
Special treat, impeccable service & delicious food! Thanks for a memorable experience.
We wanted to experience in our London vacation how it feels a real English tea and nothing express better the spirit of England and its tradition than Fortnum and Mason. We love that place and everything that is inside there. Employees are exceeding at good service and the Tea is out of this world. It was a dream come true.
Would recommend, but with reservations. Sit in the North dining area. Much quieter and intimate feeling than the South area. 2nd time we've done tea here. 1st time was wonderful, this time not so much. Actually very disappointing. Had to wait 20-25 minutes each time we asked for a pot of tea. Nor was our waiter knowledgeable about any of the teas. Was given 1 small pot of strawberry jam for 2 people. Our first time given several types of jam, and 3-4 jars each. Also, only given 2 small scones each - never asked if we wanted/offered any more. Last time, plates were replenished without asking. Overall, just very disappointing - especially when you consider the price of 60 pounds per person.
Great service and warm staffs! Very pleased experience with Ms. Mami. Very detailed explanation and recommendations;) would definitely take friends there again for nice british afternoon tea experience
It is a nice venue to have traditional afternoon tea. Because it is so busy, the waiters seemed to be a bit stressed. Also, when booking I specifically mentioned it was for a birthday - I was a little disappointed to not at least have a little candle lit for my mother. With a 170£ bill I would have thought this could have been included. At any other high end restaurant this is standard. Overall, we had a nice experience though and would recommend.
Too expensive for what I drunk or ate.
The service and food were incredible! It was our first time having High Tea and Fortnum & Mason was highly recommended by my family. They did not disappoint. Our waitress was amazing and she was very friendly and patient and made sure we enjoyed our experience by providing recommendations. We would be more than happy to return to Fortnum & Mason for tea the next time we are in London!
We have waited for 15 minutes to order our food, and another 15 minutes to get our tea, yet the waiter (name starting with J as I remember) just put down the tea rudely with the tea spilling out of the pot. When we have enquiries about the proportion of the meal, he just explained to us impatiently and end with ‘Does it make sense to you?’ When we asked for adding water for our tea (not even changing another pot or refilling our food), we need to wait for another 15 minutes with rude service from the same waiter again. Well I wouldn’t say the waiter is serving badly all the time—since most of the time he is NOT serving us. It’s just ruined my trip and my expectation towards a restaurant with royal recommendation. I won’t recommend F&M to any of my friends, even it is going to have one in my hometown soon.
My first visit in over a year and sadly the same issues exist. Too many “managers” not enough service staff. Service is very slow, had to chase for bill.
Expensive afternoon for what is at best a modest afternoon tea. I also strongly object to paying 12.5% service whether good, bad or in our case, indifferent.
Please don’t let me write the same review next time.
Went for the high tea experience. Lovely food, good tea. Helpful staff, but very slow. Def worth it
From the moment we arrived and greeted at reception, shown to our table and greeted by our server, the whole experience was just delightful. Nothing was too much trouble, we were looked after and the service was fantastic.
Not worth the money. The scones were dry and no amount of cream or jam could help them. The sandwiches were quite average but considering the price were not worth. The service was ok but noise levels were quite high.
It was a very nice time in the Fortnum & Mason Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon, excellent food and tea.
The service was also excellent, especially waiter CHRIS. Many thanks.
It would have been even better experiance if we were not disturbed by a Chinese family Next to us, whole behaviour was apsolutely not in the line with the F&Masom standard.... we know that taking pictures of food and of each other at such a lovely location is kind of normal nowdays, but to use disturb other guests with a long “ foto session”, should not be permitted.
Service was as expected and very good, however the value for money of the food was quite low. This was one of the most expensive afternoon tea places I've been to - it's much more expensive than other top restaurants - and yet the selection and quality of cakes/pastries was just average at best. It seems the appeal of this place is attributed to the brand name and seems like a good place to take tourists, however as a London local I will not be returning.
A beautiful, tasty and relaxing memory made with my daughter. A must do experience when in London.
It was absolutely amazing. No complaints. Most definitely will return and recommend to a friend. Best experience ever.
Very good food as always, very good service and the piano excellent!!!
The tea was everything I hoped it to be. Haven't been there for 35 yrs. I was a little disappointed at the more casual attire of some diners, but times have changed. I have celiac and their tea menu was delicious
Service was excellent, polite but warm and friendly. Would recommend tea for any London visit.
Had the most marvelous time. I would definitely do it again when I visit again.
Placed at a table in an area away from the main salon, we ended up with our table of four and a couple of Asian tourists. The food was okay but the whole affair lacked the attention to detail that I would have expected - missing spoons, having to ask for items (jam & cream etc.) to be brought out and an overall sense of being rushed. Our waiter was a lovely young man but had clearly not been given any instruction in how to do the tea service.
I hate to say it but F&M London could learn a lot from their Dubai equivalent.
Fabulous experience- I loved it!! Barnaby (waiter) was lovely and attentive after we mentioned that we were waiting for tea and champagne that hadn’t arrived from initial waiter.
Food is not good! Too expensive for nothing good! Very disappointed!!!
Lovely afternoon tea . Excellent service . Food very nice and happy to to replenish . Happily go again
Such amazing staff. Very attentive, polite, happy and a joy to be around. Food was yummy and the tea incredible. Slightly pricey but you pay for what you get.
The afternoon tea was lovely, but I had written on the reservation and phoned up twice to tell them that there was a gluten free vegetarian in the group, I was assured on the phone this wouldn't be a problem. When we were seated the waitress was unsure if they'd be able to provide enough vegetarian gluten free sandwiches. The kitchen were able to accommodate but we had to wait longer than normal for them to prepare, what was the point of me informing before time if nothing was prepared?
Very enjoyable afternoon tea and I think the service is even more valuable than the food
My first time with English afternoon tea, everything was nice and pleasant. Excellent staff, a very nice tea salon (Diamond Jubilee), great tea.
Definitely a wonderful experience! First of all, the online photos do not do the entire building especially the Diamond jubilee tea area justice. It is a lovely area consisting of two rooms, You are given a choice of a few different tea options . One traditional, one savory and another I can’t remember. There is also a dairy free option for those with lactose issues. Each includes a wide selection of teas, sandwiches ,scones with jam and clotted cream and pastries. You can even get champagne is you so desire and all the food selections are refillable at no extra cost! Everything was so delicious! I had the traditional and my husband had the dairy free. Service was attentive and friendly but not intrusive. I should mention that each reservation is given 1hr and 45 min time.
I would highly recommend this to anyone!,,
Lovely setting and very enjoyable food. Sadly I cannot recommend having the lobster/brill selection from the high tea menu as it took 40 mins to be served. This very long wait was apparently due to technical issues. Our waiter seemed oblivious to the delay and we may have waited even longer had the senior floor staff not noticed what was not happening. We are therefore very grateful to them and they did all that they could to make up for what they felt was an inexcusable lapse in their high standards.
A classic I have enjoyed for years, my 8 year old daughter was overwhelmed by the quality (and politeness) of the staff, the food, tea and ambience.
Went here on my visit to London. I wanted to have the English tea experience and Fortnum & Mason was recommended as because of its British roots and for having a very good tea room. The room and ambiance was beautiful and lovely. The china was pretty, the place settings and all was what you would expect. However, the service for the price was sub-par. Our waitress was new and could not answer any questions about the teas. We asked her to go and get the manager, who did not come over right away, and ultimately sent the tea expert. I'm used to restaurants of this quality making sure their wait staff is highly trained and informed. For instance, I visited a high end restaurant recently, and the wait staff there told me that they make sure they sample and are trained on everything on the menu prior to putting them on the floor. This little girl we had, seemed very frazzled and uninformed. This is not her fault of course, but managements fault for not making sure she was trained properly before placing her in service. In addition, the service was slow and unattentive. When we went, there was a decent amount of people, but not overly crowed. We had to ask for someone to bring our check. The food was average for the price. I did not think it was enough variety, and I sampled three teas, none of which overwhelmed me, and one I actually did not like. However, there are several other teas on the menu so I am not saying their teas aren't good, just the ones I had. The scones and the clotted cream and jams were absolutely divine, and the best thing of the food. This was a nice experience, but this is high end, and for the price I expected better. I'm rating the experience as good and saying I would recommend it simply because of the ambiance, the beauty of the place and because if you want the British tea experience, it is that, and the store itself is very British, and also because of the scones. I was told by my friend, that the clotted cream was exceptional.
