Fontana at the Biltmore Hotel
It was a family dinner for three. For Italian food we believe it is one of the best in Miami-Dade County, the service was impeccable and the atmosphere was serene. La Fontana is always on target.
Our reservation was for 8:30 pm, but we were not sat until at least 8:45. Our table was dirty, but we didn’t complain. The restaurant didn’t seem busy at all, but it still took a long time for a server to approach and take our drink order. The server (I’m pretty sure her name is Jessica) seemed uninterested in making recommendations and almost bothered that she had to wait on us. The best service was actually from the manager that cleared our plates. If it wasn’t for the manager, I probably would have given this restaurant 2 stars.
Overall, there are far better restaurants, with better food and service in Miami for a quarter of the price.
The ambience at the Fontana was wonderful. It made for a special night.
I prefer this place than the over priced Italian resturant that exists in another part of Coral Gables. Much better food, service attentive but not overly and customers aren't packed in to a small room. Plenty of ambience and music.
Everything was great with the exception that we anticipated sitting outside for breakfast but wasn’t able to. We also sat for a good 20 minutes before they took our order and 45 minutes before our food came out. We went with our two kids and they were complaining the food took forever to come out. We would come back again because the food was delicious and they treated us well. Beautiful Hotel
Anniversary dinner at Fontana was excellent
Appetizers were great. Service was terrible.
Beautiful, lush courtyard and fountain in a gorgeous historic hotel. Food and service was excellent!
Great service. Always good at The Biltmore. Great food, great atmosphere, great service
Graduation celebration. Seats were folding chairs...very uncomfortable. Service was attentive but rushed. Wine offered was not what was selected...server argued. Server insisted that we order our entrees when we ordered appetizers because the chef was expecting a large party...not really our problem. The cost was about $95 per person with tip...appetizers, dinner and wine...no desert.
The other seven entres were mediocre at best. I had the octopus. It was bad. Like when you get a bad mussel or clam. I sliced off one tentacle for my wife to smell and verify. I called the waitress and she promptly took it back, leaving the one tentacle on my wife's bread dish. By this time I had lost my appetite and ignored the waitress's several exhortations. The bill came and the server brought it to my attention that she had removed the octopus from the bill (I certainly hope so!!). No other concessions were made, such as a drink or dessert. Despite the very pretty ambiance, we will not be returning.
While we normally enjoy dining at the Biltmore’s two restaurants, last night’s experience at the Fontana was disappointing. We were hosting a relative from out of town and were looking forward to an evening of excellent service and great food in a very special setting. The service and food met our expectations but the setting (outside under the awning) was marred by a very loud FaceTime conversation at the table immediately next to ours. This was annoying and interfered with our ability to carry on a pleasant conversation. After hoping the “disturbance” would end we finally complained to the maitre d’ and requested that the table be asked to finish their FaceTime call. When the call continued we were told that the table could not be asked to end the call but that we could move to an inside table to avoid the noise. We were nearing the end of dinner and chose not to move but when asked if we would like coffee or dessert we declined asking simply for the check in order to leave the restaurant as quickly as possible.
I am not sure if management would have had another reaction if we were having dinner in Palme d’Or; I certainly hope so.
An incredible experience in an incredible place. I took a friend there for a birthday celebration. She was overwhelmed by the hotel site and the overall experience. the food selections are unique and delicious. It is a great place and great experience.
My 51st Bday.
Atmosphere 5. Food 1.
Amazing courtyard. Beautiful.
But.... steak tasted rancid. Fish was mealy. Cold potatoes
Dessert was fair. Coffee was good.
Server nice but ignored the
Love it food was delicious and it was very romantic.
The restaurant and hotel are beautiful. I used to love this place, but they changed several items on the menu and the food quality dropped immensely. It's such a pity because this was one of my favorite restaurants! The chef should go back to the menu from a couple of years ago which was amazing, I went there about 4 times back then and loved it every time. Didn't like the food anymore.
The food took a while.
Always great service and never had a bad mean. When weather is good outside is bar none the prettiest courtyard with the views of the moon. Always enjoy!
Beautiful place. Unique setting in Miami. Food & service are good, although service can sometimes be a little slow. Sitting in the courtyard by the fountain can be very romantic, but we’ve also been there as a family with our toddler & enjoyed ourselves very much. Be aware that the menu on Open Table is their old menu. There is a new menu now, which is good, but I prefer the old one. Overall, we love this restaurant.
Always the best, Fontana offers the best outdoor dining in the Miami area. The service and food are consistently good, though sometimes the bill is a little difficult to decipher.
Spectacular sea bass special with over Swiss chard.
Loved the breakfast at the Fontana (Biltmore Hotel). We went there for my mother's birthday. Great ambiance and a good breakfast. The only downside was that they marked our reservation as "no-show" with OpenTable, whereas I specifically mentioned our reservation when arriving. Other than that a great location with good food.
Beautiful set up, good service, food above average, a warm welcome
Beautiful atmosphere! Our dinner was amazing and the service was wonderful!
The ambience by the fountain was beautiful, the server courteous and helpful; the food plentiful and tasty. Will visit again in the future.
wonderful moment beautiful place
thank you has emilio meal delicious
Cigar smokers ruined the atmosphere. Restaurant policy must forbid smoking or we won’t return.
We always love this place and keep coming back again and again. Beautiful ambiance, fabulous food, excellent service! Fontana never disappoints!
Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. We enjoyed the chef's selection. Nicely times between each course. Great way to begin our visit to Miami!
Teok my wife And the adult kids for a elegant birthday dinner at Fontana. Once again it did not disappoint as a go to Sparks for a special occasion. If the weather is nice I recommend an outdoor table in the historic Biltmore courtyard next to the fountain. There was a special event going on upstairs but rather than detract from our dinner we enjoyed their music to make it even more enjoyable.
Service was very good. We started with carpaccio and seafood appetizers. The duck was the best I’ve had ever. One of their specialties is a grilled octopus which is huge, crispy and tender. Overall I consider Fontana one of the top restaurants in Miami. The fact that it’s based at the historic elegant Biltmore Hotel adds is an extra bit of ambience with a stroll through the restored lobby and dramatic pool deck.
Chef Pepi...truly amazing!
Great dining experience. Food was delicious, outdoor seating was beautiful. We also had a firework show during dinner because of a wedding at the hotel.
Wonderful experience. We were outside & the setting is spectacular. Service & food were excellent.
We have been there before & will return.
The restaurant, food and service was amazing. The only think, I would have wished for as it was the birthday of my wife, to receive a little surprise with the desert like other fine dining restaurants do.
excellent food - wonderful service
Fantastic dining setting outdoors with view of stars and moon in garden setting. They accommodated our large party. Pasta entree gnocchi was incredible. Top quality wine list. Very efficient service. Would highly recommend this restaurant during a visit to Miami area.
As always we had a very delicious dinner served by an extremely courteous and dedicated wait staff in an absolutely gourgeous and very comfortable outdoor environment.
Extreme pleasure with a mild breeze outside beside the very famous La Fontana Fountain under the stars.
