Firestone's Culinary Tavern, opened in 1999, is located in downtown Frederick's picturesque Historic District. It is housed in a 1921 building that was initially the home of Shipley's Department Store. The restaurant combines outstanding cuisine with the casual atmosphere of a neighborhood tavern. Filet with bacon, scallops, Mushroom ravioli. Oysters cooked
Alice was fantastic. This was our 6 year wedding anniversary. Firestone never disappoints.
Superb service - and the lamb chops were awesome! A perfect spot to enjoy a fine meal in downtown Frederick.
It was really good! Mushroom ravioli was excellent. Service was great, above and beyond, except I would ask our waiter to get all the coins out of his pocket. I could hear him jangling from a mile away! There’s a coin shortage, you know. Lmao. Had a great time, will be back! :)
Always love Firestone's and haven't been in so long due to the pandemic so it was such a nice treat and the food was amazing as always!! Thanks for a great night!
We were just passing through Frederick on the way back to Baltimore and picked this spot looking online. We were so happy we did! Lots of creative items for a lovely late lunch! Rockfish Ceviche was a great starter as were our Flyjack beers! Would definitely make the trip back to try dinner.
felt very safe and the service was as good or better than pre covid. food still rocks and drinks great.
Girls day of brunch first then off to a winery! Everyone enjoyed their food. We were a little concerned about the waiter wearing a face shield instead of a mask because he was next to the table right over us and our food and drinks!
There is no better time spent except through good food and good friends on this Labor-day weekend." Firestone’s has never let me down and this was no exception. The Wagyu Sirloin was cooked perfectly served with a potato Pave and Black Truffle Reduction. The service was great even with the restrictions.
We took our 13 year old grandson because he wanted a delicious and fancy meal. The atmosphere was comfortable. The staff were quick and attentive. The bread and butter set the tone of a memorable meal. And the Happy Birthday dessert was so perfect. I had fried green tomatoes.
The best I have ever had at a restaurant.
The food was incredible. Definitely order the rockfish ceviche as an app. Everyone ordered something different & each dish was beautifully plated and very tasty!
Food was presented well and vey flavorful. Service was excellent and outside ambience amidst Covid-19 was certainly appreciated!
Excellent dinner, swordfish was cooked perfectly and the service was outstanding.
Food was fantastic! I am gluten free and my options were great with modifications like no bun.
It is the best ! The service was so friendly and wonderful ! Food was so delicious! 5 stars!
We started with a grilled calamari salad, calamari was tough and rubbery. The salad itself and dressing was quite good. Ordered the tuna listed as seared rare. Tuna came out sliced, first few pieces were done medium rare, the end pieces were completely well done. My request to substitute a side were no issue. My husband's scallops in ramen broth were very good. Overall I was disappointed since the food has been so much better on previous visits
Server was great. Food was great. Had pork and peach cobbler for dessert.
It was my birthday and they gave me a complimentary dessert, I choose the vanilla bread pudding, which was amazing. Everyone at my table had something different and enjoyed what they had.
Another wonderful and service.
Fabulous service in a cool building.
Met friends and ate outside. Nice day but busy street with the occasional yahoo revving engines as the drove past. Fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese was outstanding. Excellent briny oysters. Best oyster po’boy I’ve eaten. Husband and friend each had the BLTA (a for avocado) and loved them. Other friend though his Cubano was great. We shared a deconstructed peach and cherry cobbler and agreed we prefer the classic version better. Definitely a great place. Good beer options. Great service and adhering to Covid rules of engagement including masks. Sitting on the street does pose small risk with some yahoo’s NOT wearing masks as they walked pretty close by.
Excellent food and service. We shared the lamb (perfectly cooked) and the crab cakes.
Crab cake was absolutely delicious
Started with Burrata with heirloom tomatoes, ended with fruit cobbler. Awesome entrees in between - so delicious!!
Wonderful meal during the pandemic and the social distancing and service were amazing. We love that the restaurant is open and providing a safe environment to enjoy what we used to take for granted. Well done Firestones!
This is the 3rd time I’ve dine at Firestone’s and first time since the SARS2-CoV-19 was unleashed on the world and inside dining was again allowed. We had a very good experience. Happy to see restaurants are allowed to open for inside dining again — sad to see several signs on the windows of some Places saying “closed indefinitely”
GREAT service and food always top notch! Got the window seat we asked for via OpenTable as well!
Also amazing ! Food is magnificent! Can’t say enough good things about Firestone
Sat outside. New reality with COVID. The server was excellent (Olivia). They had to run in and out a lot and still kept up with our requests. Always good food too!
I was so excited to try this place because of all of the rave reviews and the fact that we struggled to get a res. However, I would describe the whole experience as kinda "meh". The ambience is very lacking with a stale, almost voyeuristic feel when you sit on the second floor overlooking the bar (like we did), and the overall design of the place leaves much to be desired. The food was overall ok but nothing I would explicitly return for. My boyfriend ordered one each of the oysters and I ordered the jerk shrimp as an app; he said his was very good, and the shrimp was by far the best thing we had (the mango salsa was admittedly excellent!). But the entrees were a different story. His 18 oz. ribeye which was supposed to be medium-rare was mostly fat (like he kept cutting into it and it was overwhelmingly gelatinous-looking fat) and was very undercooked in the places that it was actual meat, while my Field Green salad with chicken was exactly average (I think they should change the dressing and add a few more ingredients to make it something worth the money). As for drinks, I ordered a jalapeno marg and it was SO so so sour; never tasted anything like it in my life. The service was the one redemptive factor. Our server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable, and even brought us a whole new steak for my boyfriend. If I ever go to Frederick again, I’ll definitely be trying somewhere else.
Absolutely fantastic service. Beautiful view. Delicious food. Perfect night!
Alice was an excellent server - all of the staff is friendly and helpful. The squash blossom appetizer was fantastic!
Food and service was outstanding! Glad to be back!
Delicious food, courteous staff and great atmosphere
Food was delicious, staff was attentive.
The Covid precautions were well done. Masks were required when you move through the restaurant or when interacting with the staff; table distancing was six feet apart or more and sanitization processes were evident.
We felt comfortable and safe in the environment.
First visit back after COVID shutdown. Oysters were awesome. Our salmon came out luke warm and undercooked. Brought back to the table without apology. Tables for two were in back of restaurant with the explanation that the window tables were “reserved for groups of four or more”. It was a quiet Tuesday evening and more than half the widow tables remained empty while we were there. Left disappointed. Hoping things turn around as it one of our favorites.
Great service. Adhering to mask and social distancing. Delicious food.
