Great food and service, we very much enjoyed our evening
I wasn’t impressed with the food. Sweet chilli sauce main sauce on both starters. Mains very average
Gave a 4 only because the music playing was Beyoncé and random bubblegum pop. The speakers sounded like a tin can - like a cheap portable Bluetooth. Ruins the ambience. Otherwise, the food and service were excellent.
We firstly booked a table online, we thought. Then we read a couple of the reviews posted and saw that there had been an issue with online bookings where the restaurant had no record of them. We phoned mid afternoon and were told that they indeed do not accept online bookings, even though we received a confirmation from OpenTable!!!!!
Anyway, the restaurant still had room so all was well. We also read that the service could be slow and the waiters unfriendly so were doubting whether we had done the right thing booking a table there. However, the restaurant was close to our hotel so we decided to risk it. We arrived promptly at 7pm, were seated immediately by a very polite and friendly waiter, and ordered drinks which arrived a couple of minutes later. We then ordered a typical selection of popular Indian dishes. They arrived less than 10 minutes later! The food and the service were both excellent. Definitely recommend!!!
We had a disappointing experience in Fire and Spice. Upon arrival they didn't have a booking and were adamant that they don't take online bookings! Not a great start. It then took 90 mins for the main course to arrive despite the restaurant being virtually empty - they did come to apologise for this and said it was because they were very busy with Deliveroo orders that night. We were a party of 6, two of which needed to get trains home at 10pm so they had to leave early (our booking was at 8pm). We asked if perhaps they might consider offering us a discount from the bill to compensate us to which they said that they couldn't do this as it would be docked from their wages.
The food, to be fair, wasn't bad at all, which I guess explains why they are so popular with Deliveroo, but they really aren't set up operationally to deal with restaurant guests. My advice would be to avoid at all costs, but worth considering if you are having a Deliveroo home delivery.
the stuff was not very friendly - when we came on 05.10 with an reservation. So next time we will try another indian restaurant.
Restaurant couldn’t find reservation, seated us anyway only to be told kitchen was not ready at 8pm (our reservation)
Nice people but amateur service.
Although we loved the food, we recommend table cloths, candles, flowers and a little music, as it was deathly quiet. Nonetheless, the waiters were excellent ht and honored our birthday girl.
I was expecting hot curry and I got hot curry. I asked for a hot Virgin Mary and I got it. Nice waiters. Room a bit too dark.
Food very good and authentic.
Will definitely go again.
Fantastic food delicious masala lamb chops 10/10 excellent service and value for money we shall be back
Excellent food. Very poor service. Had to wait more than 45 mins to get my dinner. Restaurant wasn’t busy either.
The restaurant is in the basement which I don't like. The service was quite slow but that could have been due to lack of staff.
Be aware the Fire & Spice is a hotel restaurant in a basement and therefore no windows. They could do so much more with the space and the décor to make it less like a staff canteen.
Good food and solid service. Unexceptional.
Really nice staff, and quiet atmosphere. Very good Indian food.
Outstanding. Simply outstanding. Ate here as a party of 6. Cocktails and curry. Freshly prepared, very tasty and attentive service. Highly recommended.
This restaurant is in the basement of the Doubletree Hotel, something I didn't know when I made my reservation. My husband and I went on a Friday night and we were the only people in the restaurant. As we were getting ready to leave, a man came in to dine alone (presumably a hotel guest). The food is okay, except for my lentils that had a horrible burnt taste, but its overpriced given the total lack of atmosphere and the quality and quantity of food served. The only reason I can think of that anyone would want to dine here is if you've just arrived to London from some far off destination and are too jet-lagged to leave your hotel.
Great food and great service. Ana Maria was friendly and helpful
Tasty food and good service. Nice quiet space, enjoyed it.
Food was very tasty, staff very pleasant but took a little long for the food to arrive. Good if you are not in a hurry.
A friend of mine booked it for a get together. Restaurant is located in the basement of a hotel. Small place but quite and cosy.
Had some good food, wines were of good selection as well.
Very attentive service as I went with the waiters recommendation and enjoyed the lamb madras and lentils with rice.
Starters were pretty ok as I felt portion were a little less, but then that keeps you well balanced once you have your mains.
A nice place with a quite ambiance.
Nice place, great food.
We had a good time dining here, food was of great taste . Very authentic Indian food with choices to create your own Curries.
Super Curries and Excellent service.
We are vegetarians and they had loads to offer.
Mutter Paneer, mushroom palak, dal makni (the black one) chilli naan and cumin flavoured rice is what we shared. Food was served quick and was piping hot and delicious, full of flavours.
Tried chocolate kulfi for dessert which was a treat!!!
Gave 3 on ambiance as there were only two more tables besides ours, this might be for the fact that they are located in the basement of a Hilton hotel. But don't let that stop you to go and visit this place once.
Will go back soon for sure.
Tried first time and had an awesome experience. Best Indian food I have had in recent times.
Great food, fantastic service by both Anna Maria & Elena. Ambiance was cosy and not too loud.
Chicken tikka Masala & Lamb Roganjosh were made to perfection and their hot and crispy garlic & coriander naan was freshly baked and out of the world!!
Never tried the dessert, but will be back soon. Thank you to the entire team for looking after us.
Keep up the good work guys...
Love this place when I am in town.
Every dish was made to perfection and the flavours completely amazing. Chicken tikka masala in one of the best in the city. Great atmosphere and very friendly staffs.
No complaints nicest place !!
Definitely recommended !!
Great food! Services could have been quicker but it was worth the wait
DO NOT eat here!!
The reviews are clearly doctored and Open Table let us down on this one.
Service was horrendous. Waited 25 mins for our starters that were tiny and pre cooked chicken with some hot and sour sauce poured on it. Then waited 40 mins for our main course of 'authentic Indian cuisine' when we were the only four people in there.
It was clearly four tins of tomato soup with some different spices added to each. The meat was non existent and what there was was clearly pre cooked and some chopped up vegetables thrown into each.
When the bill came for almost £180 without alcohol it was shocking.
Worst meal I've eaten in London in 15 years!!! Genuinely surprised this place even still exists.
Worst Indian food I have EVER HAD!!
I LEAVE VERY FEW REVIEWS BUT IF THIS STOPS ONE PERSON EATING HERE ITS WORTH IT.
Great food - but no people - so zero atmosphere
Food and service were good. Dishes including rice were very expensive. No atmosphere - pretty empty so no atmosphere. Also no indication on open table or website that this is hilton hotel restaurant and not anindependent.
The food was OK but the restaurant had no atmosphere at all - essentially it is located in the breakfast buffet room in the basement of a hotel.
It's not real Indian food it's toned down for visitors from countries not used to curry. Bar and kitchen is misleading as the bar is upstairs in the hotel. Service was fantastic though it helped we were the only ones in the place. The wine was expensive.
Food was excellent and the staff were very attentive. Word of caution though unless you like very spicy food go for the mild curry. I would definitely go back and recommend this place. A nice little hidden gem of London.
Great food and service but dead atmospherically
Food really good!! and our Waiter Tudor really professional and kind!
Very average food. Wasn't very exciting.
Booked here because they had a 4+ rating on open table & were serving beer & food as early as 6pm. Won't make that mistake again.
Staff was polite & friendly, but service was slow. It was good for us that we were there to catch up with friends & chat. It was quiet & So it's a great place to have long catch up conversations.
But the food was just average. I'd never go back if this was a restaurant in India. Actually I won't go back here either.
The dhal, roti & rice were fine, but the meats were cooked very generically. While they claim to have an Indian chef, the food tasted like what you'd get in a Bangladeshi curry house.
The only dish that is worth a mention is the fish, which wasn't even on the menu & was recommended by the manager.
Even with the 50% discount on food via open table, I wouldn't go back though.
The waiters were very attentive as soon as we arrived but I suspect that was partly due to the absence of other customers. We ordered starters which were each delicious in their different ways. My sweet and sour chilli chicken completely fulfilled its description whilst my friend's Tortilla Chaat Twist was a delightful surprise. Taking advantage of the OpenTable deal we both went for the Flash Pan Bazaar and were not disappointed. The freshly cooked dishes burst with flavour and made the lack of custom even more puzzling.
This was my second visit to Fire and Spice. It won't be my last, so long as it gets enough customers to stay open.
