Filomena is perfect for the business luncheon or the elegant candle light dinner.
Love coming here for restaurant week. Really enjoyed the timeliness of all our food and the service level. Food good as always and got to take home a lot of food for leftovers.
The food at Filomena is always good. More than enough to eat in one sitting. The only issue is the place is small and all of the tables are so close together. Barely enough walking room. I like this place best on the weekdays at lunch time.
Amazing from the food to the service! Will def be back :)
Absolutely delicious food - Restaurant Week menu is an incredible value
Our reservation was a bit later in the evening but the restaurant was still packed. The waiter came as soon as we were seated. The bread, Calamari and our entrees seafood in Squid ink pasta and restaurant made spinach and ricotta ravioli carbonara were just wonderful. They brought us a glass of Lemon cello which finished the perfect meal.
Excellent food and service! I have eaten here multiple times and it never disappoints. Worth a trip.
My boyfriend and I had the MOST lovely time at Filomena! The best Restaurant Week experience I had. It was our first time dining and I felt like I was being transported to Don Corleone’s favorite supper club, with all the lace, mirrored walls, shades of deep red and other old world touches on the walls. The special menu had a superb selection and the portions were generous—we took home leftovers and were still absolutely stuffed for most of the following day. The bread basket and olive oil/herb/salt mix was a delightful way to start, unlike anything we’ve had at other Italian spots. My boyfriend particularly enjoyed the cheese ravioli he ordered, and my rigatoni in vodka sauce with mushrooms and chicken was superb. The complimentary after dinner sips of sambuca for him, amaretto for me, combined with the cold, light slices of mousse-y chocolate cake and some bitter coffee beans for him was utter bliss. It was a date night we are still talking about and one we are eager to repeat. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
My boyfriend and I dined here for the first time last night for my birthday. All of the host and wait staff were very polite. Additionally, Mr. Peter, our waiter took such good care of us. He even sang (belted) HAPPY BIRTHDAY for me when bringing out my candle lit cookies and cream cheesecake. Soo stuffed we had to bring our entrees and half of our slices of cheesecake home.... A+ in my book!!
We tried Filomena for the first time this past weekend. It was during restaurant week and the joint was jumping. It was an amazing night! The food was abundant and delicious. The service was on point. Not too overbearing but just right. We look forward to seeing them again soon!
We were seated quickly but server took a long time to introduce himself and even longer to come back and take our order. Drinks took a long time, and he brought our appetizer and left it without giving us any utensils. We had to ask a busser as our server disappeared. Our lamp wasn’t lit either, as if the table was open and not seated. We asked another busser to light it but this time they went back to the server. He seemed irritated at having to attend to us. Our entrees were excellent, but my dessert (hazelnut mousse cake) was overpoweringly hazelnut and nothing else. The tirimisu was excellent. It’s a noisy place but has been around forever with Pasta Mamas in the window making the daily pasta wonders. We’ll return but hope we don’t get Leonardo again.
I came with a group of 8 people during restaurant week for lunch and it was one of my most memorable experiences.
The bread was fresh, the calimari was enjoyable, the meatballs were great, and the Oreo mousse cake was one of the best cakes I ever tasted.
And our waiter, Tony, was fantastic. He was very friendly and accommodating. For a great and affordable time, come at lunch during restaurant week.
Just amazing! Delicious 😋 Would recommend for any occasion! Dessert is a must
Excellent service, especially because of the server, Peter. We wish we could find people like him, with his attention and professionalism, in every restaurant we go.
Great restaurant fabulous delicious food super service Wonderful value
1st time at this restaurant. I have heard many good things about it. So I decided to try it during restaurant week. My reservation was at 2pm but after trying to find parking didn’t get inside the restaurant till 2:20pm. I was told by the host that my table was given away. He told me to let him know when my guest arrived and he would try to work us back in the schedule. Once my guest arrived it was about a 10 minute wait. This restaurant is very fast paced and busy. If you don’t have a reservation you can forget it. The inside of the restaurant was smaller than I expected and the seating is very intimate and close. Proceed with caution if you get anxious in large social settings. The food lived up to expectations for me. I was pleased with all my meal options. The calamari was delicious and the Italian sweet sausage was so good. For my entree I had the lasagna. The portion was huge and I could not eat the entire piece there. The lasagna was very flavorful and cheesy. I loved every bite of it! When I returned home I ate more of the lasagna and it was even better than in the restaurant. The seasoning and spices were able to settle more and that made my tongue do a happy dance. For dessert I had the cookies and cream mousse cake that was yummy. Overall I enjoyed my time and experience here. I will definitely be returning for a date night.
Our entire meal was so lovely. I really enjoyed this restaurant week special. I walked away with so many left overs. The portions are HUGE!
Awesome food and phenomenal service. We were there for restaurant week and had never been before. It was a perfect lunch.
they sat us 15 minutes late, restaurant week menu is a good deal
My boyfriend has been wanting to bring me here for two years now. We have small kids so the timing never worked out, but we finally got a sitter and it was lovely! This is definitely an experience and I can’t wait to come back. Thank you for a relaxing evening.
From the time we walked in the door we were greeted very promptly and enthusiastically. Though we were 20 minutes early, we were seated almost immediately and were offered a great table on the side. Our server, Tony, (from Staten Island) was terrific. From the history and ambiance of the restaurant to the service and high quality food, this was a fabulous night.
Went back three times in four days. It was just fabulous. Every bite was better than the one before it. Perfect food, great atmosphere. Only drawback is that it does not appear to be handicap accessible. Which would prevent me from bringing family on my next trip.
Great food (and portion sizes!)
Really nice ambience for a short lunch date
Great old-school Italian eatery! Tasty, rich traditional dining room, huge portions. Amazing value for Restaurant Week, esp. lunch - with dinner-sized portions. Decent pricing anytime. Food is heavy, not the healthiest.
Great food, charming decor. Great price for lunch.
Went to Filomena for restaurant week and had a great time! Everyone was friendly and nice, service was great, and the food was delightful! The atmosphere was also very lively.
The food and service is always excellent.
Service is good. Tasty dishes, portions are big. Values for money.
Lunch was great!
The Lasagna was spectacular! We lived in Italy for 3 years and never had pasta as good as they make here consistently! The portions are large and over the past many years we have visited Filomena we have never left without a to-go bag. In fact we had a great left over lunch at home today.
All positive but one warning: the restaurant is down a flight of stairs and if you are mobility limited you might have trouble getting to where the great food is.
As we age, we are wondering how we will be able to get downstairs when we are in our 90’s? Any ideas?
Hector is an amazing server! I would definitely request him. He was friendly, considerate, and very knowledgeable on the history of the restaurant.
This fine restaurant never falls short of expectations. Every visit leaves us amazed at the quality and creativity of the kitchen, and service is excellent. It is one of the finest Italian dining experiences one can enjoy. The only shortcoming is that the ambient noise level makes conversation difficult at times. But Filomena is worth it! Don't miss!
Noisy, good food, regular service
Food was delicious! Big portions with very kind staff. If youre looking for a quiet environment, this is not the place. But beautiful decor and incredible food.
Amazing as always! You have to get the lasagna...it's to die for. Also a great place for restaurant week - an amazing deal for so much food.
After a failed attempt at getting friends together for a dinner at Filomena during restaurant week, I decided to go by myself for lunch. Best decision I made. Not only was the food amazing but the service and management team was welcoming and gave the experience a “homey” feeling
Great service and food.
My favorite restaurant in DC, a semi-hidden gem for great italian food and environment. Truly a special meal every time we go.
We loved our restaurant week lunch. It’s an expensive place otherwise, but it’s hard to beat the old fashioned atmosphere and vibe. The food was delicious, the pasta in particular was just ethereal.
Truly the best, most authentic Italian cuisine in the area. The Food is always impeccably prepared, very generous portions, and insanely tasty. You really can taste the authenticity. I went during Restaurant Week so it was even more busy than usual, and the service was still fantastic and timely. My favorite spot in Georgetown by far!
