This is a beautiful restaurant with a wonderfully cozy atmosphere. The service is polished and very welcoming-not pretentious at all. The sommelier was helpful and informative, and the wine we chose was perfect. Chef Dean Fearing came out and visited with every table. The food was great. I loved the lobster bisque and the jalapeño cornbread. We both had delicious filets with sauces (peppercorn and bernaise). The chocolate lava cake with cherries and ice cream was decadent. I felt we were treated like special guests from the moment we were seated. I highly recommend Fearing’s.
The service and food were great, but the best part was meeting Mr. Fearing! He was very nice and personable.
It was a fabulous brunch. We were taken care of like princess'
As always.... GREAT! Everything and Everybody is professional, knowledgeable, and polite. They care about the customer.....
Great service and good food. Furniture is dated and ambience needs an upgrade.
Excellent food, Professional & Friendly Staffs!!
Will go again
We loved everything
Fabulous experience. The best food.
Not as outstanding as past visits.
This is a wonderful place for a pre- or post-theatre lunch or dinner. It's open on Saturday for lunch (which is rare among upscale downtown restaurants). The food is always good, and the service impeccable. Briana and TJ were our servers and they didn't miss a beat. We love Fearing's and will be back!
Yes it is expensive but the food is amazing and the experience worth the splurge. Service was top notch! Food was presented beautifully and everything was delicious. They even have a lovely vegetarian menu! I think there were vegan options too
Overall a treat and lovely night out
Favorite place to eat in the US. Been following Chef Dean Fearing since he put Southwest Cuisine on the map in the 80’s. Still the best.
Constantly one of the top places in town. Dean always greets everyone warmly when he is there. Very personable.
Great facility, the wait staff is great, and the food is top-notch. This place is absolutely fantastic.
We enjoyed a very nice meal here and were very pleased that Chef Dean came out to great us. His food is very good and quite unique. Loved sitting at the table looking into the very busy kitchen. Scallops were delicious as well as the antelope. Fun experience.
Our experience was amazing! Chef dean fearing is such a great guy! He came to our table multiple times to check in on us! Go here! You will be amazed!
Wonderful food and wait staff made it a memorable birthday celebration.
Fearing was over the top good! We had the buffalo and the ribeye. Both prepared perfectly. I eat my ribeye Blue and the chef came to my table personally to make sure he understood how i wanted it cooked. Great service and Great food.
Some great dishes, some good dishes and some misses, but, overall, a memorable dining experience, even if overpriced.
We were blessed to celebrate our 47th anniversary at Fearing’s. A very attentive staff and perfectly prepared meal left us with a special memory.
The food was absolutely fantastic. Every single thing we had was amazing and the service is top notch. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience. We will be back again very soon!
Great food and wonderful service!
I have to say the we had a wonderful experience here. The atmosphere was very intimate, the service was outstanding, and the food was just amazing. I would definitely recommend anyone looking for good food and a great dining experience.
Not a great place to go for special occasion. Food was over priced , quantity was very limited. Too much noisy .
The food was outstanding. Flavors were distinct and memorable. Our waiter was very friendly and although this is a high end restaurant, it was not at all stuffy or snobby. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a special occasion restaurant.
The ambience was elegant & casual at the same time. Wait staff was impeccable. Our cuisine was extraordinary, in typical chef Fearing style. The Rattlesnake Bar was quite unique with smoked drinks & your signature margaritas. My date shared it was the most flavorful one he'd ever had. A most memorable evening!
The food was fabulous, the service superb! We had tortilla soup - my husband the chicken- I had the vegetarian - they were both delicious. I had the asparagus salad with a fried poached egg, and it was delicious. My husband had the shrimp cocktail as his meal - it was wonderful. The presentation on all courses was amazing. We shared a blueberry dessert - it was like a 3 small sugar coated turnovers or empenadas. It was a wonderful evening. Going back next month!
Food was outstanding and it's great when Chef Fearing walks around greeting the patrons. What a treat!
Absolutely amazing! Delicious vegetarian options, excellent service, great atmosphere, and very welcoming. They made my husband's birthday dinner that much more special. We're definitely going back!
The food was good. The buffalo I was not a huge fan of but it was plated very nicely and the grits that it came with were very good. My girlfriend had the steak and lobster which was good though the steak was not as good as I remember it being.
The service was not as good as it was when I was there last. The main server was friendly but did not seem engaged with the table. He did a good job of selling the food. My main complaint with the service was that my girlfriend and I felt rushed by the server almost like he was trying to flip our table. Additionally, the service was sloppy. He rushed to mark the table after our first course and our main course and kind of "threw" the silverware down so much that it slid a bit on the table instead of placing it softly. What made me feel the most rushed and upset was that the server brought us the check not even two minutes after we received our desserts and that as he was saying "Thank you have a great night" he was already walking away from the table.
Also, I was repeatedly being served from the left with the servers right hand. I know its a small thing and very picky but it is a 5star restaurant in the RItz and its a basic fine dining serving principal.
The server assist the mustache and glasses was fantastic. Very attentive and very kind.
One last thing, I feel that the server should have known and acknowledged that it was our anniversary. The hostess knew and said something so I feel as if the server should have been told.
Sorry for the rant but its my honest opinion.
The greeting and attention upon arrival was very nice, Before we arrived I had requested a combination of starters and wine be ready once we were seated .... Perfect ..... The food was above expectations, the waiters assistance were spot on (not hovering, but not absent)... A great evening with my 5 guests
Here are some of the comments from my guests:
"this tar-tar is candy"
"I have NEVER had lamb like this in my life and I've eaten a lot of lamb in my life"
"this has been a perfect evening from start to finish"
A wonderful evening.......
The table ordered iced tea and iced coffee, which came with a small tray that had lemons, limes, fresh mint, and various sweeteners including simple syrup! Absolutely delicious! All the food was great, but the beignets were particularly memorable and outstanding
Of course, for Fearing's, you have high expectations. Most of my issue centered around the time it took to get our food. We spent considerable time between courses. As well, our food was good, no doubt, but we expected fabulous. My halibut was the best, my son's filet was just ok and the buffalo tenderloin was decent. For the prices, you really expect them to knock it out of the park.
As expected, the Tortilla Soup was outstanding after being served Lobster Bisque. The breads marvelous. The Smoke Butter was superb. Ordered a Perseco with Peach Nectar...did not have Peach Nectar, substituted Pear......it was ok. Halibut was dry around edges but Center was moist and full of flavor. Ordered Peach Cobbler with Butterscotch and Ice Cream to go......got the Cobbler but no Butterscotch , no Ice Cream.
Not the best Birthday dinner for my wife as I thought it would be.
Great food and atmosphere!
The new menu items are terrific! We loved everything we had - Hudson Valley Foie Gras Torchon, Crispy Barbecued Blue Point Oysters, Grill Brick Lockhart Quail Stuffed with Foie Gras Dirty Cracked Rice, and Duck-fat Tator Tots. Dean and staff were gracious and attentive. Highly recommend Fearing's!
This was my first visit to Fearing's. I'd heard a lot about Chef's cooking and was excited to experience this restaurant. Its located inside the Ritz Carlton hotel and features a beautiful design and atmosphere. My friend and I asked for a Tasting Menu with wine pairings, no restrictions. With the exception of the bread and butter, tortilla soup, and beef quality on the main course, the rest of the dishes were largely unmemorable. Maybe there is some culinary inspiration about taking a delicately flavored lobster and "chicken frying" it in batter. Ours however, came out slightly soggy and frankly, any hint of the lobster was lost in the bread flavor. Service was very friendly, but staff seemed rather limited in knowledge about the food and wine they were serving. My biggest concern was the pacing. After sitting down, we had three rapid fire courses with plates dropping almost as fast as the previous ones were cleared. I finally had to tell staff to slow down. At a restaurant of this level and price point, I'd expect a lot more. For two of us dropping almost 500 dollars with tip, this was a big disappointment. I'm hoping Fearing's just had an off night. Regrettably, I'd have to think twice about returning anytime soon.
It was a wonderful experience for the pallet, the ambience and the service. A definite return candidate.
