Great meal.Server was awesome would definitely return
Super disappointing food and service. Our family has been going to Etta’s since 2000, last night’s food was inedible. The mussels were very poor. We were charged $28 to add literally 2 bites of salty crab to a salad- simply unacceptable. It seems since service charge is automatically added to the bill, there doesn’t need to be any attempt at good service, or indeed any mediocre service, that would have been something. Sadly last night’s visit was our last.
The menu is has some great items. Great location for out of town guests. Service was poor. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks. Pricey and small portions. Food was fresh. Ahi over cooked. Otherwise it was fine. I would suggest checking out some of the newer restaurants.
Unfortunately, this restaurant seems to rest on past reputation. We ate here many years ago - the food is over-priced. We got the rock fish with German potato salad and asparagus. The potato salad was gummy and the asparagus was stringy. The fish was over-cooked. Very disappointing.
I was disappointed in the meal I ordered. I should have ordered something different.
Delicious food! Everything is so flavorful and fresh. Service was awesome too!
Arrived 1 1/2 hours early to our 4pm reservation. They sat us quickly and everything from there on was perfect! Food and service were impeccable. Thanks Etta’s for a great night.
A truly delicious and overall enjoyable dining experience. The Copper River salmon special - although a bity pricy - was one of the best fish dishes we have ever had, while the rest of our selections were properly delectable. When combined with a knowledgeable, professional, courteous and truly likable server, we simply couldn't have asked for more. Thank you, "Etta's"!
This was a business dinner for 4. We had the calamari and sashimi for appetizers. They were both delicious. Three of us ordered the sockeye salmon with a fantastic rub. The salmon was flaky and juicy. Slightly smoked flavoring. For dessert, I had the apricot crostata. The crust was light and flaky.
Let me start with the food - it was delicious. I had the asparagus soup and spinach salad. The soup was piping hot and comforting on a damp Seattle evening. My husband had the stew and he loved it. It was on the spicy side but great tasting. My son had clams and the chef prepared them in a butter sauce special for him and he is not a spice lover. He ate every bite. The bread was soft and dense and served with a salty butter/olive oil dip that defies explanation - it was unreal good. BUT - I do agree $6 is a bit much for bread. Which brings me to the service. The fine print is that they tack on an automatic 20% gratuity. IMHO, when an establishment does this, service should be beyond reproach. It wasn’t. I understand this has something to do with paying a living wage. Ok I’m happy to help you with that but be sure your staff has the training and support they need to do a 20% tip worthy job. Food came out in stages - our waitress had to schlep back and forth to the kitchen to bring our food. Most of the communication was her shouting over her shoulder and she sped by and me shouting at her as she rushed past. She was personality plus but she had too many tables or too many large parties or both. Very expensive for the bar/relaxed vibe it had.
Located in Pike Place market. Ambiance a bit dated. Great staff. Salmon a bit bland and undercooked - surprising for a venue that prides itself in being a fish and seafood specialist.
Great food for all four of us. Best restaurant in Seattle!
Our server, John, was amazing. Gretchen, the manager was great too. The food we had was delicious, and the wine that was chosen to pair with it was perfect. The pancetta on my crab cakes lifted them to a super delicious level! They bent over backward helping my 8 year old find a blue crayon in the sea of crayons. Thank you!
We love Etta's. Great seafood and great wine list. Love the Western Ave Manhattan to launch the evening. We hosted friends from Southern California and they were also impressed. Location is great.
Etta's is The Best!
We celebrated our son's graduation from The University of Washington with several out of town visitors. We immediately chose Etta's because everything is perfect. We enjoyed Tuna and Calamari appetizers, variety of entrees and deserts. I had Copper River Salmon and 3X Coconut Pie which were outstanding. I am very thankful for Etta's!
The Rub with Love Salmon was amazing!
Our server was lovely. Very helpful and attentive. The food was fabulous! Very flavorful, fresh and the presentation was beautiful.
Amazing service, menu options, and I’d like better wine choices...they were out of their beer on tap.
We visited this restaurant on a Sunday evening, and the restaurants appearance was very nice upon arrival, and the table was ready at arrival. When I booked the reservation, Open Table clearly stated that this restaurant incorporated a 20% surcharge on every bill, in lieu of your tipping. I told my wife that I found that interesting, as this is something that is done outside the US, and it generally translated to poor service, but I hoped that wouldn’t be the case at Etta’s. In general, the food was good, but the overall experience was tainted by 3 people in our party of 4 being brought cold mashed potatoes. I told one of the team of servers that this was the case, she apologized and said she would bring us replacements. A few minutes later, another server returned with 3 small dishes of potatoes, but 1 of the 3 was still cold. I pointed this out to the server, and she took them back again, and come out with a completely different side dish. I told her not to worry about it, I was full enough at that point. When the bill came, the side I never received wasn’t discounted, I did not receive an apology, and a manager never came to the table to explain the circumstance. This tarnished the evening, and reinforced my fear of the service surcharge, why fix something that isn’t broken, gratuities encourage proper service, and qualitative results. We won’t go back to Etta’s...
Just traveling and asked for recommendations! Food was creative and fresh, so very happy with that-would certainly recommend to anyone looking for good fresh seafood
In town on family vacation. I found myself remorseful for spending as much as I did for what we got and wished I had chosen a different spot.
Food was outstanding. Some of the best fish meals we have ever had. the sides were to die for. also our server Andrea was very helpful and friendly. If we ever come back to Seattle we will be returning to Etta’s!!
Asked our hotel for best seafood close by this didn’t disappoint. Service was fantastic and everything we ate delicious
While the service was great, the food was only average, and entrees were cool when received. I was looking forward to awesomewe seafood, but it was nothing to get really excited about.
We went on a date here last night after listening to people say good stuff about it. We got both kinds of salmon coz its a fine dining seafood restaurant! The expensive copper river salmon was amaazing but too small! You would expect more than what looked like 4 ounces for the price.
The regular salmon (which by the way was still a usual 30$ - not less than any other salmon we have eaten outside) - was pathetic. I loove salmon and this is the first time I got this super chewy dish which was not even close to any salmon recipe I’ve had at a restaurant. It was very underdone- so they literally didn’t even prepare it the minimum to serve in a regular restaurant let alone one that calls itself “fine dining”.
That aside, the restaurant was really noisy but we could have maybe been fine with it if the food was good enough to capture our attention!
Good food and service but quite pricey
The food was amazing. We purchased the salmon rub!
It was relaxing and just dar enough from the busy Pike Place Market! We’ll be back!
We stopped in for a casual late lunch while passing through Seattle. Our server was very friendly, attentive and courteous, despite being a bit too pushy about ordering alcohol (we each had one drink only). We’d read the great reviews, but found the food to be disappointing. Overly-seasoned calamari, mediocre oysters (too many bits of shell and the adductor not severed...honestly). Though not redeeming of the meal overall, the clam chowder was superb- reviewers weren’t kidding. Perhaps one of the best we’ve ever had! I wouldn’t go back, except perhaps for only a bowl of chowder.
Like all Douglas restaurants, Etta’s offers excellent food and top notch service. It’s one of my go-to’s in Seattle.
Near Pike’s market. Had a delicious Sunday Brunch
Flew in from Nevada to have the Copper River Salmon. Great meal from Tom Douglas. Really appreciated the superior service and fine wine pairing.
Everything about the visit was great. We were seated as soon as we walked in, our server introduced himself and walked us through the specials of the day. We started with a dozen oysters, which were incredibly fresh, and the champagne sauce was a nice accompaniment. We each had a different entree - salmon, Dungeness crab cakes and halibut fish and chips - and each were very tasty. The portions were big, but not so big that you couldn’t finish them. We finished things off with dessert, again three different things - coconut cream pie, rhubarb crisp and Turkish coffee ice cream. Not surprisingly, each was amazing!
For the price you will pay, Etta's food is just not worth it.
My friend is moving away and I wanted to bring her to a place with real PNW seafood and a Seattle view, not too touristy and with really good food. Etta's was perfect! We got a lovely table and everything we ordered was delicious. The dining room was quiet enough we could talk without yelling. It was just what I had hoped for.
Great food. Great drinks. Service was uneven. Had to ask for more bread 3 times.
Pretty bad last time, glad we gave it another chance. Try the avocado-grapefruit-endive salad and the asparagus soup - yum.
I had the crab cakes - perfect, just enough mayo to hold it together, and cooked nicely. She had the halibut with rhubarb - it looked overdone (nice and browned) but it wasn't, it was cooked perfectly. How do they do that?
Appreciated opportunity to visit with friend recovering from surgery without a lot of interruptions. Noise level was rather high and annoying but all else very excellent
Our first visit was not what we had on mind after several recommendations and reviews. The lunch menu was very limited and not close to what was their website. I felt that the fish and chips were greasy. Service was bit slow. The kicker was my wife sent a drink back because it was nothing but ice and it was not good. The bartender remade the drink, but ended up charging us.
This long time Seattle staple still delivers a good seafood meal. We were surprised though, that they were already out of halibut and Petrale sole at 6:45. Our server apologized for the out of stock fish and the slower than usual service. He made sure our rhubarb crisps were on the house.
