Food was top notch - high end stuff!
Ernest’s was a fantastic evening! It started out with 2 complimentary glasses of Prosecco for our anniversary. We asked Ryan for a before dinner drink. Ernest’s did not have a Manhattan listed. They found sweet vermouth & made me a Manhattan with a bourbon-soaked cherry. Very nice and accommodating. The crab pre-appetizer was a surprise! Very flavourful. We each had one of the appetizers, all of it was delicious. Second course, we had the Caesar salad for 2 made tableside. It was delicious. As seniors, we tend not to not eat that much so were getting very full. The sorbet to cleanse our palate was delicious & a nice touch. Restaurants do not seem to serve that any longer. Thank you, Ernest’s! Main course, my husband had the Rack of Lamb that was very good & he even enjoyed the couscous! I had the Arctic Char with potatoes & broccolini. The Arctic Char was a large piece, it wasn’t very warm & then when I took my second bite, I noticed it appeared very raw. I explained that I was full anyhow so if I could just get my meal wrapped to go that when I microwave it tomorrow at lunch that it would be perfect. They asked if they could take it to the back to show the chefs, I said that was not a problem. Melanie came back & said, “Yes, it was undercooked so they were making me a new Arctic Char.” I explained that I did not need a new piece & the piece I had will be perfect once I warm it up in the microwave. It didn’t matter what I insisted on, as the package came with a new, much smaller, thinner, well-done piece of Char. I do not like to waste food so I would have preferred the much larger, thicker, not as well-done piece to warm up the next day so that it would not be as dry. That would be my only complaint of the evening. We each had a tasty dessert & the chef had written with chocolate, “Happy Anniversary”, on the plate. Our server, Ryan, was attentive, helpful & a pleasure to talk to. Overall, in our opinion, Ernest’s is the best 5-star restaurant in Edmonton.
Always enjoy the meals as well as the idea of helping out the educational aspect of the evening. Ant little slips are easy to ignore as the enthusiasm is infectious.
An absolutely delightful experience! The four course dinner was truly delicious and plentiful! And the service was very pleasant, respectful and attentive. Furthermore, the decor of tables and the entire restaurant was very tasteful.
We were absolutely bowled over - by everything! It was our anniversary so we were presented with a complimentary Prosecco when we arrived and an extra plate of chocolates at the end, with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate on the plate. The choices on the table d’hôte menu were excellent (we chose lamb, done exactly how we asked) and the wines (offered as a flight for only $15 more) were paired perfectly too. The whole experience would have cost twice as much anywhere else. Incredible value! And the servers, Austyn and Eloise, were charming and very professional. Which of course one would expect anywhere else but some of the staff at Ernest’s are students in the Culinary Arts program. All in all, a wonderful experience.
The menu is so limited and mostly weird items. The ratatouille was so over cooked - very disappointed!
I brought two friends who had never eaten at Ernest’s at NAIT and they loved it. I have have attended three students’ buffet luncheons in the last two years and thoroughly enjoyed it and recommended this to my friends. They looking forward to trying it next year.
WW thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We were there for a 65th birthday celebration.
It was a most enjoyable experience and a meal fit for my 15th anniversary working in the Government of Alberta. Would definitely make another visit in the future.
Excellent food and service! We had a wonderful evening!
Wonderful food! Attentive service! Great ambience! Thoroughly enjoyable experience! My husband and I took his brother, who was visiting from Kitimat, BC there for dinner in late May and we had a lovely time. Would highly recommend Ernest's at NAIT!
Took a friend for her birthday. Best present ever because they made her feel special in a way a dozen roses wouldn't quite be able to.
Friday buffers are the best! So many fabulous options to tempt the palate. Excellent wine menu as well.
I would recommend Ernest’s for dinner or lunch but would suggest if they are wanting the buffet to only book an early seating. Some items were not available anymore at the later seating. We had excellent service when we went for dinner and were very disappointed with the service at our buffet lunch. We were ready for dessert and I had to go ask someone if we could get coffee and they only served 1/2 of our table! We had to hunt them down to get more! Food was just okay (pricey for what we got-since some was just the scraps left) desserts were very good and saved the day.
What an awesome dining experience! Creative and tasty, with more courses than I’ve eaten in a long time. We started with a flavourful, well composed bite, and the appetizer choices were perfect- a delicious, more filling option and a beautiful, creative option. The salad and soup were good and unique. The main course options were all special and thoroughly enjoyed. The dessert was also better than expected. Our server was attentive and eager to please.
The maître d’ went above and beyond for our son’s birthday.
It was a privaledge to support the students in their training while eating a creative and tasty dinner. I recommend anyone looking for a fine dinner try Ernest’s.
Food was good, service was fabulous, but oh my god the wait between each courses was way way way too long.
I have been to Ernest’s several times and this is the first time that I have had a less than perfect experience. We were greeted very nicely and taken to our reserved table in a timely manner. Our server arrived to greet us and inform us of the specials and to take our drink orders.
The food was delicious and well served.
There was some delay waiting to order dessert and coffee which I understood. It was very busy and there seemed to be a shortage of waitstaff...unusual for Ernest’s. Fortunately our group could afford the time to wait. The flower arrangement on the table was mostly dead and very unappealing and unattractive.
Overall, the experience was good but not up to the standard that I have come to expect from Ernest’s.
Excellent value for an amazing meal. The service could have been a bit more polished but overall a very great experience. They did not recognize the fact we were celebrating a birthday though, even though it was noted on the reservation.
Ernest’s was a wonderful experience , we went with dear friends, we could chat and really enjoy the experience, no noise. We enjoyed a lovely 4 course meals. Our service was impeccable , their when we needed him but not intrusive. We will definitely go again.
The food was delightful, service was exceptional. I believe there was much value from the overall dining experience. The only small concern I had was the lighting and set up of the restaurant, although it was inviting and comfortable, the environment was dim and the interior design of the place was slightly outdated and old fashioned. I believe if the lighting was more invigorating and the set up and decorations was slightly more modern and vibrant, the dining experience overall would be most impeccable.
Celebrating Retirement and a Birthday!
A bit disappointed that the main course, Arctic char and beef tenderloin, were only luke warm. It should taste much better if they were served hot.
There was so much food to choose from the desserts especially were amazing.
Excellent restaurant, quality of food and service. Best value in town.
We love this restaurant, this is our fourth time coming to Ernest and we are booked for the buffet on 26 Apr. This is our first time trying it and we are very much looking forward to it.
We love the concept of student getting the full experience of running the kitchen and dining room. It gives them a real time exposure and feed back from other than teacher or peer.
Really great place to meet and discuss business. Food is consistently fantastic.
You will never find a high quality meal like this for this price! I would recommend this to everyone I know
Excellent meal, attentive staff, and will definitely return and recommend it to others.
The beef carpaccio was excellent. Indid not enjoy the Paella. Salmon was too salty and rice was dry. Enjoyed the between course features.
Service was impeccable and not intrusive. The food did not disappoint any of the diners. Overall a very pleasant evening.
I had the pleasure of enjoying a meal at Ernest's with my parents and significant other. I had looked at the menu prior to going and was pleasantly surprised to see Lamb on the menu. All day I was looking forward to enjoying a meal of Lamb. Unfortunately, there was a last minute change to the menu and there was no lamb to be found. I was slightly disappointed by this. I chose another meal to enjoy but my heart wasn't in it.
I look forward to the next time we have a chance to try out another menu as I will still make an appearance at Ernest's in the future.
Wonderful experience! Very lucky to have this in Edmonton. Thanks very much!
Great! Very enjoyable! Just wished I had tried the double ginger cookies a little earlier and had asked for the possibility of a recipe. They were OUTSTANDING.
For some reason, yesterday the service was quite slow which made our business lunch a little stressful
We enjoyed every course of our meal. The Icelandic red fish entree was especially delicious.
Excellent food and service! Great value!
I love hearing the culinary students describe their creations.
Different menu each time, outstanding variety.
Something for every palate/food preference.
Incredible price for value.
Over the years I’ve brought/referred dozens of people.
My favorite: endless, delicious dessert supply 🙂
First time there. Everything was excellent! We will definitely go back.
Had a wonderful date night with my partner. Food, atmosphere, were excellent. High end restaurant value with lower price. This NAIT alumni will be dropping by again....soon.
