This was my second time visiting, went for my birthday both times and must say I was a little disappointed this go round. Not sure if it was because of pandemic or what! My drink and appetizer were great but the main dish, which me and hubby got Mahi tacos needed serious work!!! Fish had flavor but the taco itself was blah. Mexican fare is my favorite and every place I go the tacos are done the same. I've never had a rolled up taco before and the filling was lacking. Ordered tres Leche to go and that was not flavorful either and to top it off no churros!!! Like I said not sure if quality is off because of the way things are right now but now is not the time to start slacking. Service was very good tho and they have spaced it out nicely. Could use a little more warmth inside, outdoor dining was warmer.

Great dinner spot

I figured since I had made a reservation in advance that perhaps we would get a covered spot to sit. I understand there are not that many and not everyone can have a covered spot outdoors. Our server was not as happy, just miserably going about her work. The heater was not powerful at all either and luckily it was 50 degrees but it would have been nice to have a functional heater. Eventually it started raining on us and all over our food. Super sad because we couldn't even really pack our leftovers as everything had been rained on by that point. I would not recommend El Vez for outdoor dining until COVID subsides or the weather gets better.

we were placed on the sidewalk, service was good but our table was placed on a hill so it was very unstable felt like the whole thing would tip over. food came out in a reasonable amount of time but the portion was considerably small for the amount of money i paid. our waiter was very nice and attentive

My first time eating in one of the private outdoor booths. Love it! The food, as always, was excellent - as was the service - and being able to sit out on the street and eat, WARM on this sunny winter day, was lovely.

With everything considering it was a good experience besides the obvious issues that arise from eating outside such as cold food and really slow service. But generally understandable.

I would have given 5 stars down the line, but due to the requirement for outdoor dining, the ambiance and noise levels were not ideal.

The food was flavorful!! The server was so nice which made our experience very pleasurable. They had heaters which helped our food stay hot.

The food was very good, but we were eating on a cold and windy night and we weren’t allowed to eat inside.

And old favorite but has lost its luster.

As always, El Vez NEVER disappoints. With indoor dining closed due to Covid, we ate outdoors. It was 30 degrees when we sat down, but we had a heater next to our table and we were dressed in layers. My husband inhaled his nachos and I scarfed down my tuna tostadas. My taco sampler platter was to die for too!!! We ended our meal with delicious churros and several margaritas. El Vez is our favorite restaurant on the planet!

I loved it there. Margarita was great and I also had the best burger I’ve had in a long time.

Great outdoor dining setup with plenty of heating for winter 2020-21

El Vez is taking the pandemic very seriously. I felt very safe eating here and really appreciated all the precautions they are taking. The food was great too. :)

The food was amazing, best tacos I've had. We ordered the steak and shrimp combo for 2. Queso and chorizo. Hands down, the chef nailed it, again, amazing!

The food was very good. The service was good. I'm not really a fan of outdoor dining but due to COVID-19 we had to eat outside. El Vez staff did make sure that there was heat available to all customers and they did follow COVID-19 rules to ensure everyone was safe as possible. I will return to El Vez and hopefully the pandemic is over so I can enjoy the inside of the restaurant. I also would recommend El Vez to my friends/family.

always good food...but the current set up, if you arent sitting on 13th street, sitting on sansom kind of stinks. tons of homeless walking by asking for money etc and really not a great vibe

El Vez had great heat lamps set up for outdoor dining. The food was amazing and the server was very kind and attentive.

Been to El Vez many times over the years, even for NYE one year. Found it a bit odd on this visit that the first and only thing the hostess said when I arrived was we have an hour and a half at the table (my friends were right behind me). In this day and age of restaurants fighting to stay in business, was pretty unwelcoming. Then of course our server disappeared for 20+ mins during our meal, when we needed drinks (in his defense, he did appear to have a huge area to serve, tho, not our fault...). Food was fine, price reasonable; perhaps our last opportunity to outside dine for a few months...

Really enjoyed my experience! I would definitely recommend El Vez!
