Second time here. Enjoyed our meal, service and ambiance. More importantly, an elderly woman sitting at the next table was choking on her food. Our server, who was walking by at the time, administered aid by performing the heimlich (forgive me if I spelled it wrong) and was able to help her dislodge whatever was in her throat. Idk her name but thought she should be lauded for her quick thinking and action. I hope mgmt reads this and recognizes this lady for her selfless act.
Food, ambiance and service was out of this world. Can’t wait to go back
The food and service was fantastic. The food was future forward as compared to the setting which was beautifully rustic.
At the top of our list of favorite restaurants in Vermont. Excellent food and service and variety of rooms to dine. Great location and ambiance and always feel as if stepping back in time in history.
As usual - the meal and service was amazing! We have a puppy and have to dine outside - even in the rain they made everything so lovely and comfortable!
We love the Dorset Inn - amazing food and team! And we can bring our puppy and sit in a perfect setting on the green outside.
Great ambiance,, delish food, terrific, friendly service Our 3rd visit...not our
last.
Consistently excellent cuisine with an impressive whiskey and wine list
Everything was perfect. Great Easter Brunch and we will definitely be back.
The Dorset Inn is an experience worth having. The food is locally sourced and very good. The service is personable and efficient.
Classic fare that respects the term "dining" in both cuisine and in service. Both the Tavern and the Dining Room are top notch - in particular the house-made pate, beet salad w goat cheese, pork chop special and filet mignon were outstanding. Likewise the buttermilk fried chicken with just a hint of sriracha sauce is worth a repeat visit. Breakfast served in the Garden Room of the Inn was creative and delicious without being obscene in portion size. The brioche french toast, corned beef hash, and omelette w cheddar and spinach were delightful, as was the coffee and friendly service. Out of all the area restaurants we ate at over the long weekend, Dorset Inn stood out as flawless. Kudos to the kitchen and front of house staff - see you again!
Fine dining in a quaint old inn.
Waitress spent too much talking to other tables while neglecting our table. She broke cork in wine bottle and spilled wine on our table and we waited too long for the check. Mussels were great, pasta dish hardly had any short rib meat and was basically pasta with a sauce. My wife did not like the vegetarian dish stating that it was too heavy. Meanwhile, we will be back to support local restaurants
Have dined here a few times. Food and service are consistently very good. Many good choices, fresh food and wonderful cocktails. You cannot beat the ambience for a country inn.
Fabulous food. Fabulous service. Great atmosphere.
The ambiance was perfect sitting by the fireplace. Our waitress was delightful. Dinner was so good.
We definitely would return.
Frendly server who made expert suggestions about the evening diner specials. The table was situated near the fireplace and the wood fire was a nice addition to the room's old tavern decor atmosphere. The Dorset Inn dates back to the 1790's and it definitly has the old New England charm. The food was excellent
A charming place to visit in Vermont
This is great place to have a really nice dinner at this Historic Inn. Food and service is always good.
You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu at the Dorset inn
Wow. Our meal was perhaps the best we've ever had in Vermont over many years. Each course was truly excellent and super-tasty. Service was spot on. The old inn ambience was perfect on a snowy winter night. We felt safe. Our only struggle was over what to order (every choice was appealing). We will go back soon!
If I could give ten stars I would
Each time we’ve been to the Dorset inn for dinner they have outdone themselves. We will definitely be back.
Spectacular. The food was delicious, service superb and the atmosphere was perfection-the quintessential New England dining experience.
i took my daughter on a daddy daughter weekend and i chose to eat here ....it is a wonderful place for dinner the staff was fantastic as was the food ,,,,i think I'm going to take my wife for dinner here for valentines ....i highly recommend the Dorset inn
Lovely evening! Everything from the beautiful setting by a fire and congenial wait staff to the incredible food made it memorable. Thanks so much from a dining out starved couple!
We loved how charming the Dorset inn was. They had a delightful menu and robust wine list. Hearty fare with lots of cheese and big meat dishes but a good variety of options. The different rooms to eat in are all charming and very VT. We had the beet salad and raclette plate and the raclette plate was to die for!! If I had one recommendation, our hope was to be in the tavern and there wasn't an option on open table to choose that specifically. They had all the precautionary measures in place for COVID and we felt very safe and well taken care of!
We loved having dinner at the Dorset Inn. The dining room is quiet and classic in that traditional New England sort of way. Elegant and inviting but not stuffy. The food is very good and well-priced but think more homey than haute cuisine, which is exactly what one would expect here. As always, the staff is exceedingly friendly and the service is nigh on perfect. Overall, an excellent example of traditional Vermont country inn dining. I highly recommend.
Favorite spot and best food!
Amazing dining/stay experience at The Dorset Inn. Felt catered to the moment we walked in until we left. Kim, our server, was fantastic and went above and beyond. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. We sat next to the fireplace which was the perfect ambience on a cold winter night. The Dorset Inn is a MUST visit and hidden gem!!!
Great restaurant that never disappoints. Our favorite restaurant in the area.
This was a very nice restaurant. Food was excellent. I had duck which was so smooth, tender and delicious.
Huge wine list.
Live it ! Food was good the service excellent.
Consistently outstanding food and service in a perfect New England setting. I love this place !!
Beautiful place, warm ambiance and incredibly nice staff. Highly recommend!!
Excellent experience as always! Making good use of space and being innovative during COVID restrictions and maintaining the classic, charming dining experience that has always existed at the Dorset Inn.
Service was excellent. Food and drinks outstanding.
Been dining here for years and have never been disappointed! See you again!
Thank you for the great review! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Went here for our anniversary and had a wonderful experience from the decor to the special attention from servers to the delicious food. Great beverage selection, and the food is amazing. Both got the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly and got the brownie Sunday for dessert which was incredible!!
This place is like stepping into a Hallmark Movie! We chose the restaurant based on reviews. It’s very close to Manchester and a nice drive. The food choices are very extensive. We had cod wrapped in prosciutto, the turkey croquettes and a burger. Appetizers (salads and mussels) were also unique and delicious. The bar has a wide variety of cocktails and a nice (and economic) wine list. Service was wonderful and the ambiance is lovely with fireplaces going and a porch setting for dining. Don’t miss this place. It’s a treat.
I felt Very Safe eating at the Dorset Inn. Service was great and the food was amazing. Given the restrictions, they are doing an excellent job and I will be sure to return!
