I had an original reservation for 8:00pm and had to change to 6:00pm. The owner Was so kind an accommodating. The server was also great and very attentive. The food was fantastic and was enjoyed by my guests as well. Wonderful!
Service was excellent, food was cooked and prepared well, just didn’t taste good
Took a long time to get our drinks but after that service picked up.
We ate early at District Social in order to be at MSG by 6. It was perfect timing & our waiter Greg was very attentive & made sure we had everything we needed in plenty of time. He was outstanding & really made our experience fabulous. The bacon with molasses appetizer was delicious. Great atmosphere & fun bar.
Waiter was ok. Met up with some friends for dinner. The food and drinks were very good!
Food was really good. Was seated upstairs, which is normally fine, except they had a private party up there screaming at top volume. My guests joined me late as there was trouble on the L train. When arriving my guests were given a hard time about joining me—even though they told the host they were here for a reservation. I’ve been here several times to have a nice dinner, but the noise from the private party made it impossible to do so that night. The private party was allowed to spill over into the dining area. My guests and I had to yell at each other to be heard. I went home with a headache afterward. For this reason alone, I might not return.
Sides were extremely pricey. Portions were small but the food was delicious! I liked the dining atmosphere, cozy! It was loud but that’s expected.
TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IT IS, WILL NEVER RECOMMEND IT
Not great. Took forever to get a drink. They wouldn’t add protein to a salad just because it was “brunch” not “lunch,” eye roll.
We didn’t know about this place but what an amazing find. We love Gastropubs and this was the best. The food was great and Mario our waiter was fantastic.
We wanted a space where we could enjoy a night out with friends and not worry about disturbing anyone with our laughter. This place was perfect! The bar was busy and loud but the back dining area was comfortable and the food was delicious. The waiter was awesome and made sure everyone was happy and having a great meal.
The food was good, but on the pricer side for the size. The drinks were good too but also pricey. The waiter was really helpful and kind. The place is gorgeous, but a little loud and busy. Overall a good place to socialize with friends.
Dinner between HP & the cursed child parts 1 & 2!!
If you're looking for a fun place with a combination of and old school pub with lots of open space, don't miss District Social. Great job guys!
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Amazing ambiance perfect for a date or a night out with friends. The staff is attentive, friendly, and accommodating. I’ve been here twice this month! MUST EAT AND SEE IN MIDTOWN!
Risotto with the Cod was under and soup was tepid. Grillled octopus was outstanding. Service was solid and environment/space was great.
We had a cousins lunch and it was great. Some cousins taking the train from NJ, some taking the subway and some taking express bus from Queens. Ages 28-84. Not easy but District Social was just what we needed. Very friendly service and we were given a small private room even though we didn’t request it. Such a nice surprise. It allowed us to have a nice conversation and hear everyone.
Drinks strong and tasty. Something on the menu for everyone. Nothing fancy but delish.
If you need a place to meet up near Penn or MSG that’s friendly this is your place.
Went for drinks and food for a large group. We had more guests than anticipated and they made every effort to accommodate despite being quite busy. The service was excellent and personable really impressed and we had a great time. Beer selection pretty good as a craft beer lover and the food was very good too. Thank you for being so hospitable and attentive!
Went to District Social in-between the Harry Potter Show and was seated promptly as I had a reservation. We did ask to have a different table as the one we were given was so small and in an area with lots of noise and traffic. We were accommodated as long as we could be out at a certain time and that was fine with us. We had a very nice waiter but had to wait quite a while for him to come back for our orders and check but it still all worked out. I know they are busy and again he was very pleasant. A great selection of draft beers and cocktails. The food was great - goat cheese croquettes, brussels sprouts, mushroom flat bread and a linguine dish and all were delicious. Finished with an espresso cake. I will be back and will recommend. Go and enjoy!
Great food...Great drinks...Great service...Who could ask for more !!!
Nice place to Meet with friend after work. Not a large selection of food. But what we ordered was tasty. Shrimp flat bread, Brussel sprouts, Mussels, and Fried Octopus. They Offered Happy hour but the selection on that was small as well.
Conveniently located to where we needed to go. Food was quite good. Service was fine. There is a big bar with lots of TV's for the afterwork crowd as you enter & no real separation from the dining area, so it is UNBELIEVABLY NOISY! Can't talk without shouting back there.
Very noisy and busy bar in front that diners have to wade through in order to reach dining area. Service was excellent though. Drinks were good as well. Short ribs were outstanding. Wife’s roasted chicken was very good. Didn’t care for sauce on fingerling potatoes but everything else was well prepared and served hot. Good overall dining experience. I’d definitely give them another try.
This is my second time coming to District. I was early to a birthday celebration and had a wonderful dirty martini!! We were seated when my friend arrived and had a wonderful waiter - very solicitous and helpful and warm. We ordered the hamburgers which we had last time. The fries were warm and the burgers were cool to the touch. The waiter offered to have the kitchen redo the order which was done and food was sent out hot.
One of the outstanding things about this restaurant aside from the wonderful bar tenders the fabulous waitstaff is you can sit and talk and talk.
I am not sure if I will come back and if I do it will be to sit at the bar.
Decent spot, not a lot of people
We went pre-show at MSG - it was a great choice. only 2 blocks away - not insanely crowded though definitely crowded. I wish they had sat us upstairs as we were right next to the bar but we could hear each other so it was definitely ok. The food was delicious - we got artichoke flatbread - highly recommend and the brussel sprouts were amazing. They have a nice selection of drinks and it is a very nice bar atmosphere. Our waiter was great and very helpful.
Recently had dinner here before a show. Waiter was very friendly and helpful but only a few tables of diners. The bar was packed by the end of our meal but the restaurant was still nearly empty. Food was fine, drinks were good. Just nothing special for NY. Could have been a suburban restaurant anywhere in the US. Prices were good for the location and quality of food.
Great food and atmosphere! It took about 10 min for our waiter to come over to us but other than that everything is great!
We were disappointed that the waiter did not inform us that the side orders we ordered were very large (appeared to be family size) and we if we had known we would have ordered (2) side orders instead of (4). We were more upset with the amount of food that was wasted than the added cost.
We had an amazing dinner our waiter was so nice! Our came out with such a presentation! I can’t wait to go back!
Everything was amazing but a bit loud. Also I will say that while eating my dinner I found a piece of the clay pot my dish was served in. I didnt want to make a big deal about it because everything else was so wonderful but that is a serious health violation and if I had ingested it could have had major problems. Overall it was a great experience except for that.
Great food! A little loud and expensive, but a good experience. Great place to grab a drink.
I went there for brunch. The portions were very small, and overpriced for the portion size.
Quick seating with Open Table reservation. Made the reservation 15 minutes prior! Quick service, friendly and attentive waiter. Very noisy Friday night crowd.
Short-rib Mac & Cheese FTW and try the brussel sprouts
Were seated quickly for our Saturday night reservations in a nice corner booth away from the louder bar area. I had the hanger steak while the husb got the lamb tangine. While mine was a good (if a pretty unimaginative example), the lamb tangine was the clear winner. The aroma and flavor matched (which can be hard to do for some places) and the bread and sauce with the tangine were evenly portioned.
Our only complaint was on the timing of the meal. Our waiter was attentive (sometimes TOO attentive) as the meal was served very quickly. I realize they were trying to turn tables as much as possible (ostensibly to maximize revenue on a Saturday) but we explained we were celebrating and wanted to pace the meal across our cocktails and a bottle of wine. You read that correctly - we ordered a $14 cocktail (each) and a ~$90 bottle of wine to be served with dinner, however all the drinks and meals showed up at almost the same time. We looked like quite the lushes to our fellow diners which was not really in line with the relaxed, celebratory vibe we wanted. As there didn't appear to be a wait for tables, we didn't understand why we were being rushed out. At the end of the night, we paid close to $300 for a rushed meal. Not exactly unusual for the city but still disappointing when we'd made our request(s) known.
Loved this restaurant. Nice atmosphere, fantastic food. Our server was pleasant, attentive & knowledgeable. The lamb tagine was delish!
Good bottomless brunch deal but not good quality food
Our servers were not only great but really kind. We had a spilled cocktail and multiple staff members went above and beyond to get everyone and everything cleaned and the cocktail replaced. The food was delicious and we were not disappointed. It was a little loud, but that didn’t bother us. We were still able to have a conversation and enjoy our meal. We highly recommend this place and will be back on our next visit.
Six adults, great table, great service, great food, great cocktails, great dessert. You can tell I had a special time. I was so glad I brought my family to the District Social. We walked in the door to a crowded bar but made our way to a much lower key dining room. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. The manager came to see us because an appetizer we ordered was not available and suggested a different one and gave it to us with the compliments of the house. We had a variety of dishes from the menu, duck, salmon, pasta, shirts ribs. Very tasty. We had house cocktails and beer selections. Very nice. Dessert was eclectic (grapefruit creme brulee) and well prepared. Reasonable price too. I am glad I found District Social in an article I was reading. We will come back next time we are in NYC.
