Mediterranean
Durham
About the restaurant
For parties of 5 or more, pease give us a call.

A family operated - Mediterranean Bistro serving a fresh & local ingredient inspired menu.

The Papanikas family first opened the doors at this location in 1994 under the name Papas Grille, a fine dining Greek and Mediterranean restaurant. With “Papa” and Sam in the kitchen and Angelika, Chris & Yianni running the front of the house, Papas Grille turned into one of the finest and well-respected restaurants in the Durham food scene. After eighteen successful years as Papas Grille, it was time for a makeover and with that came a new brand as well. The reconstruction took place in 2012 in which the changes brought a more casual setting and modern feel. With “Papa” retiring during the changeover, Sam took over the realms in the kitchen fine-tuning his craft which is highly focused on quality ingredients and consistent execution. The front of the house continues to be overseen by Angelika and Yianni.

Compared to previous visits, it was slightly less good. The pork chop was dry and overcooked- our guest had requested pink in the middle. The lamb appetizer was also dry and overcooked and was served without any sauce. Previously, it was served with a red sauce that was delicious. Lastly, a salad was served with out dressing. When the dressing was requested, the bill reflected a charge of 0.75 cents ; Which did not sit well with my guest. It was removed from the bill after my guest complained. Overall, it is still one of my favorite restaurants in Durham. Our guests came from Albany NY and It was not 5 star experience as we promised.

Asian
Durham
About the restaurant
Pocha is short for Pojanmacha in Korea. The exact definition of Pojanmacha is "Tented Cart on Wheels" that serves street food with drinks. Over the years, pojanmacha has developed more into a brick and mortar style and has similar feel that of Japanese style Izakaya. It is an intimate but causal spot to share good food and drinks with friends. We focus on Asian fusion with a concentration on Korean food.

I've only recently had the pleasure of dining here and went twice within two weeks. The food is creative and delicious (with fare aplenty for my vegetarian friends too), and the servers are awesome!

My fave was Magnolia Grill but alas, they went on to other things. This is the newest incarnation of Nana’s but imho, much better this time. Probably my go-to since Magnolia no longer exists. Well done all around!

About the restaurant

When you walk through the shadowed glass doors of Talulla's, an instant transformation begins to occur. Your mind and body begin to relax. Your ears pick up on the eclectic mix of music. Your eyes wonder around the walls, decorated in Turkish rugs; then the ceilings, scattered with warm, unique lighting pieces; then the floors... the dark, hardwood floors; and finally, across the plush seating areas, disguised by cushions and pillows and fabric leisurely draped around the frames.

Fusion / Eclectic
Durham
About the restaurant
Little Bull is sincere, nostalgic comfort food, inspired by the palates of first-generation immigrant kids.

Pocho cuisine is not a gimmick. Like Oscar, it’s a little bull-headed, but with no bullshit. It means more than loaded terms like “New American” or “modern Mexican.” And it’s authentic to Chef’s personal experience.

“American food is undefined. But it’s been designated to certain ideas and people. It’s actually evolving, as much as our landscape is a melting pot. As much as my own identity as a first-generation American and chef.”

Pocho started as a term used by people in Mexico to poke fun at the “American” kids who speak Spanglish. At Little Bull, pocho cuisine showcases the evolution of being a chef in America, inspired by every immigrant and their growing influence on our food.
