One of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been too. The food was so good and it is family run and operated! The pasta is homemade and the spices and tastes were off the charts. Can’t wait until I return to Buckhead!

Fusion / Eclectic
Downtown
About the restaurant
We know the word "fusion" has been wielded about to justify everything from Hula Burgers to Mexican lasagna. But the East-meets-South brand of fusion happening at Poor Calvin's? It's creative; it's innovative; and it's probably unlike anything you've tasted in the ATL. After working in kitchens around the world, Calvin Phan wanted to shake things up a little. And so, into the mac 'n cheese, the Thai spices went. Now, Calvin's giving Southern staples, like sea bass and fried chicken, a decidedly creative Asian-inspired twist (and a nip of spice, too). He has created innovative dishes, approached in much the same way, leave the hands of Calvin Phan day in and day out. His dedication and attention to detail are evident in each dish and dessert. You won't be disappointed.

Disappointing portion size for the $$$. This has consistently gone down, unfortunately. Even the rice to accompany dishes like curry comes in a tiny bowl and they charge you for a second. How expensive is rice? If they are going to continue to hike up prices, portions need to reflect it.

Everything about this experience was amazing. The restaurant and view are incredible. Our server, Haley, was so sweet, attentive, and helpful. Our food and cocktails were delicious. My boyfriend and I split the charcuterie board which was surprisingly filling for two people, and it included delicious fresh honeycomb from the hotel's on-site apiary. I had a bite of my friend's sea bass and it was some of the best fish I've ever had. And the blue dome dessert is so pretty and SO indulgent- rich and cocoa-y and delicious. Polaris will absolutely be a dinner stop on our next Atlanta trip!
