Devil's Alley – Philadelphia
They would not honor open table reservations. They claimed it was only for points and it was first come first serve. Why even be on open table if you’re not going to honor their reservations?
YOU MUST TRY THE DRY-RUB WINGS!!! They fall off the bone!
We've been to Devil's Alley several years before and the service was outstanding. Not sure what the issue was this visit but everyone seemed annoyed by our visit and we waited an extremely long time for our food. Others that came in much later were served immediately. We were very clear and simple with what we ordered and our orders were still mixed up. The food was ok...but something seems to have diminished.
It was great. Good atmosphere and food was excellent.
Our waitress was not good at all. She took our order and we said it 3 times and she still did not get it correct. Very disappointed.
Devil's Alley isn't gourmet by any means, but it does somewhat-upscale bar food well. The prices are right, the food's pretty good and the portions are large. The service was fine. The decor's a nice amalgalm of things and is designed to make you feel like you're outside. The crowd leaned heavily to millennials.
Disclaimer: we went here for dinner on the day of Erin Express/St. Paddy's celebration. It was loud, but luckily they seated us far away enough from rowdy groups so that I wouldn't be yelling across the table. Food was reasonably priced, but I think the specialty cocktails were a bit overpriced. The daily drink specials (for us it was $6 Stateside vodka drinks) do not apply to the specialty cocktails. The decor was nice, and I get why everyone is constantly Instagramming this place. Service was excellent, and all the staff were very friendly.
Super tasty food and great drinks!!
Bar service upstairs very friendly and efficient!!!! We decided to eat upstairs by the window as we had a street view! Nice place for food with friends vibrant and dim lights! Food was served fast and hot! We enjoyed ourselves!
The food was all excellent and our waiter/bartender was very knowledgeable and helpful. There happened to be some loud people sitting at the bar area and it was hard to hear over them. I recommend sitting downstairs for a more quiet atmosphere.
The food was very good, and the service was outstanding. It was very dark where our table was and we felt that we were removed from the action.
Great place
Good spot for catching up with friends. Beer list was short but colorful. The scallops special was excellent. Lots of energy in Center City.
Very good dining experience and affordable food. Great service no crowd.
Our first time dining there. I heard the food was pretty good, so we decided to try it for brunch. The restaurant was completely empty, which should have been a heads up. Our waitress was friendly enough and brought our drinks out quickly. The menu sounded like it had good food. And sounded is the operative word. My husband ordered a “grilled” cheese with bacon, mozzarella and I believe tomato. It was a BT with a slab of mozzarella on what looked like Stroemans sliced wheat bread. I I ordered a grilled shrimp salad with chick peas, quinoa, tomatoes....I got 6 grilled shrimp on the side of a pile of salad that tasted like it was drizzled with tasteless olive oil and absolutely nothing else. Plus there were no chick peas in sight. The waitress didn’t bother to ask if anything was wrong so I volunteered the info on how bland it was. She offered to bring me something else but I didn’t want to be disappointed twice. The atmosphere is cool and it’s good for drinks. Just wouldn’t eat the food.
My new favorite place in phila!
Food was fabulous and service was great.
Very good! Would highly recommend!!!
Arrived late due to the construction. The hostess was more than welcomed to seat my party promptly. The waitress was attentive. The food was amazing!! Great portions and variety to choose from. Will definitely be recommending to friends and returning
II decided to try this restaurant during restaurant week in Philadelphia.. I don’t know what the food is like outside of the restaurant week menu but the food that was served for restaurant week was TERRIBLE and this place should be ashamed to charge $35/person for the garbage that they giving out. I should have went with my 1st instinct when I walked in, not that it wasn’t a nice diner-ish/ bar atmosphere but for what they had on the restaurant week menu, it was nothing extravagant but I was thinking to myself this is not gonna be quality food coming from (ex: filet medallions(they weren’t filet cuz they were too tough), salmon, crab cake sliders(all filler ) and the portions(very small) I would have thought u was at a fancy restaurant BUT I didn’t want judge too fast cuz ya never know.. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY..😤😤
It was our first time at Devil's Alley. We went to celebrate a family members Birthday. We had a great time. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We will visit Devil's Alley again. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The service was very good. They often checked on our needs. Not one compliant at all.
It was very cold inside the restaurant. The food was ok. The wings were ok and the steak was tough.
Super good service, food was excellent, would go back
Restaurant week
The food came out haphazardly (we were there for restaurant week so it was 4 courses) and they gave away the last dessert even though we ordered it when we sat down while there were still a few left. They ended up comping us a few drinks because of the whole ordeal. Food was decent, service was ok. Not a bad experience overall but not overly impressed either.
Went to Devils Alley for the first time on a Thurs for restaurant week. We were seated right away and our server came over soon after she was great the entire time. We ordered from restaurant week menu our food was good but portions small. I will return but not for restaurant week we could’ve have ordered from regular menu and received same value and portions probably would have been bigger
Very nice atmosphere food was great service was great will be visiting this place again in the future
Excellent food and a great server! We will be back!
Overall a great experience. Not very crowded, nice atmosphere. My only complaint is that the brunch hours are not listed on the menu in open table, so brunch had transitioned into lunch/dinner by the time we arrived.
Very disappointed with the quality of the food on our latest visit. The service was excellent.
My girl and I had dinner here before a show. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Good drink specials. And the food was delicious. I had a cheesesteak tator tot app. They make them from scratch. So good.
Good food, excellent service but the place is an icebox. The dining area is a long skinny room and every time someone comes in or out the front door you get hit with a blast of cold air. We actually had to eat with our coats on. The waitress was excellent. She was friendly, responsive, and worked really hard.
Good food, no fuss, good beer list, convenient location.
The TV upstairs is busted. But everything else was great
Excellent service, above average food, nice beer selection.
As always me and my colleagues had a great time. Good food, phenomenal service and a awesome atmosphere. Thank you!!!
Friendly staff
Food was great. Our server, Carissa, was exceptional. She made the entire visit.
Love Devil’s Alley...but on this particular night they were out of 2 drinks from the menu and 3 food items. We really liked everything we had but basically had our 2nd or 3rd choices. Though the bartender upgraded my husband’s whiskey as a courtesy, they probably should have taken one of our meals off the charge as a bigger gesture. Having said that, we really enjoy being there and love it for our dinner / movie nights when we go to the Roxy. Thanks.
Love the burger and sweet potato fries!
