Oktoberfest is the world’s largest folk festival, or Volk fest, originating in Munich in 1810 as a royal wedding celebration. While this first event lasted a single day and centred around a horse race, the festival has grown over the years to become a 16-day celebration of Bavarian culture. And since Bavaria is widely known for beer production, beer has become a central theme. Visitors will travel thousands of miles to attend Oktoberfest Munich 2025, taking in craft beer tents, funfair rides, parades and other entertainments between September 20th and October 5th. Many of Munich’s best restaurants and bars participate in Oktoberfest in a variety of ways, from special menus to after-parties and much more. The Graggenau district within the city centre is home to some amazing gems offering Oktoberfest Munich 2025 specials. There’s a 1,000-seat restaurant with a stunning vaulted cellar serving upscale Bavarian fare across 15 function rooms, and a beautiful chandeliered hotspot specialising in classic pork knuckle cooked over an open grill. St. Benno is home to one of Munich’s most beloved “biergartens” where you can celebrate summer and Bavarian culture, while a brunch spot in Dreimühlen serves up views of the Alps alongside a captivating breakfast buffet.
