   Our server Sam was incredible. I cannot say enough good things about this man. He had an endearing personality, a keen eye for detail, and an uncanny ability to show up only when necessary. In hindsight my only complaint would be that we were seated upstairs. Downstairs seemed to have a lot more energy ( we learned this while leaving for a show) All in all exceptional food, excellent service, and a fun experience.

   Took my wife out for Mother’s Day for a buffet brunch. The restaurant first sat us on the first floor and expected us to walk up and down to the second floor to get our food from the buffet table. We are both in out 70s and we told them that was unacceptable. They agreed to seat us in the second floor. The food was good, but the waitress was inattentive. Overall, very disappointed.

   Last night in the miserable rainy night we had a marvelous mood changing meal! The hostesses and severs were spot on, as was the kitchen. We had wagu parpadelle and the ribeye specials plus the lamb for entrees... all delicious! Great martinis too. Want to come back on a nice weather evening to sit in their quaint outdoor space.

   Server was great! There was a very noisy table that kind of ruined the typically quiet vibe here. Duck was amazing! Other food just ok, again not typical. Drinks were great and well priced.

   Well, the food was great! Ordered chicken and friends ordered Salmon. Anyhow, it seems obvious that they did not have enough waiters. We were on the second floor and we got there at 6:30 and left at 9:30 due to the service.

    Three of us dined there last night, and we all loved and ate every last bite on our plates. The octopus appetizer was grilled to perfection; my husband had oysters on the half shell for his appetizer and lamb for his entree; both met his expectation. Our friend had trout and enjoyed it immensely. My entree was crab cakes with corn and shishito peppers. To say everything was perfectly prepared is not an understatement. Alex was our waiter. He was knowledgeable and friendly making the overall experience what one wants when dining out. Note: the prices are a bit on the high side, but the quality, ambience and service makes it worthwhile IMHO. Oh, and when seated upstairs, as we were, we found we could actually have a conversation without feeling like we had to shout at one another, as happens frequently in other establishments. A big plus in our book!

    It's always such a pleasure dining at Dettera. Food, cocktails and service cannot be beat. And the ambience is wonderful. Nice singer/guitarist playing last night. Everything was wonderful

    This restaurant is truly outstanding when it comes to the quality of food. The ingredients and thoughtful presentations are among the best in the Philadelphia suburbs and certainly in the town of Ambler. It never disappoints!

    Another fabulous meal! Highly recommend the mushroom toast , beet salad , octopus, cheese board any of their fish . It’s a neighborhood gem! Great wine selection and also love the elderflower bourbon! Flatbreads are also savory . Cannot wait to dine again !!

    Our party of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We were seated upstairs and it was quiet with the fire burning. The cocktails were tasty and brought promptly. The price at a time of inflation were more than fair. The meal which included beet salad, baby green salad, oysters and bucatini were remarkable and generous. Two had the duck which described as delicious and two has the veal medallion special with cauliflower purée and roasted baby onions-very well prepared and tasty. Service was competent-way to go Jeff love this place!

    We waited awhile for our reservation. Everyone else who came in was seated immediately. Communication was very poor. Service was way long. A positive is that they screwed up a meal and took it off the hill. Was surprised.

    Excellent drinks. Caesar salad is large and delicious and is definitely enough to share. The duck breast and sides couldn’t have been better. Cooked perfect. I think it might be the best duck breast I have eaten.

    First time there. Server was attentive and water glasses were filled instantly. 5 in our party, 2 had the rainbow trout - delicious. 2 had the Ricotta cavatelli - delicious. We had salads prior to the meals - tasty and various wines, also delicous. Would highly recommend.

    We had a lovely dinner out at Dettera. We didn't realize it was Restaurant Week, which explained why there was a slight scramble/wait at the hostess station, but it was not a significant inconvenience. Our server was extremely welcoming, very knowledgeable, and was very accommodating when half our our table ordered from the Restaurant Week tasting menu and half ordered a la carte. Everyone enjoyed their meal - the mushroom toast and ahi tuna were particularly tasty. Would highly recommend for a nice evening out!

    Valentine's Day. 5 course dinner. First course. Smoked salmon. Aka lox. It was served in a spoon. Next up scallops or should I say scallop. Yes one..then new york strip. Not cooked right. I asked for medium rare. It was medium to well. After that cheese tray..not feeling it...then butter cake..for 105.00 each...sorry not worth it.. besides the waitress not coming over to ask how things came out or do you want another drink... love the place but this was disappointing.

    I hope this was an off night. That being said, we sat a long time before ordering, not offered drink refills, had to stack our plates and request dessert/coffee menus, had to request check. if we were not flagging someone down and asking for it, our service would not have moved to the next step. I would have liked another glass of wine and my visibly empty glass sat there. It did not appear very busy overall and I did not see anyone else pitch in and help- no management or anyone else on the floor and our server did appear to be hustling. The food was ok. I would maybe try it once again and give it another chance.

    Pro: Beautiful place and the food was delicious. Con: We came in with a reservation and were asked to wait at the bar for around 15 mins while they cleared a table. We were seated and after 10 mins we were asked to move to the table next to ours. So for a total of at least 25 mins we were inconvenienced but the hostess didn’t seem to care. Then our server was less than attentive. I don’t think it was intentional, she was doing the best she could…but once you’ve waited and dealt with constant shuffling it gets to the point where you are just hungry want great service + great food. Unfortunately, we didn’t have that experience.

    We made a reservation for 8:15 and arrived at 8:10. When we entered the restaurant there was another couple standing in front of us just inside the door. We assumed they were waiting to be greeted and taken care of so we took our place behind them and did the same. After a few minutes of standing there with not a single employee acknowledging that we were there a couple in front of us decided to go to the bar and sit down. We stood there for a few more minutes by the front door waiting to be acknowledged or checked in. Finally a woman came down from upstairs to greet us. I told her about our reservation for 815 and at that point it was now 820. She told us that they were waiting for some tables to turn over so we went and took a seat at the bar. It seems they were overly busy for the amount of staff they had. And we sat at the bar for what felt like another five minutes before the bartender came over and took our drink order. I ordered a beer and my wife ordered a mixed drink which the bartender probably said was not his favorite but made it anyway. We were unclear whether he meant not his favorite to make or to drink. When it arrived I can tell you it was not anyone’s favorite to drink. Oh my wife realizing her drink was not desirable for her probably ordered a whiskey on the rocks. And we were at the bar long enough to almost completely finish our drinks before they came to see us at a table. When we went upstairs we were politely asked which of the open tables we would prefer. I do love being asked that. We were seated and my wife decided to us the restroom. She came back promptly finding it was occupied so we decided to choose what we wanted for dinner because it seemed as though the staff was a little overwhelmed and we wanted to get our dinner order in as soon as possible assuming that we would be waiting for quite some time for our food. It was more then 10 minutes before our waitress came over to acknowledge us. Thank god the food was a amazing!
