DC Prime Steakhouse
Our mission: to provide dining and culinary excellence to every guest we serve.
We serve only USDA Prime Beef, which is the top 1% of all beef in the United States, chosen to meet or exceed our owners' rigid standards that include tenderness and taste. All of our beef is supplied by Consumers Meat Packing of Chicago, IL...purveyors to many of the finest steakhouses in the United States. The same superior standards apply to our fresh seafood, sourced direct from North Coast Seafood of Boston, MA., our whole lobsters, from the cold waters of Maine and our Mero Sea Bass Steaks, overnighted from Honolulu Fish Company, Honolulu, HI.
Good, but steaks were not great...expected more for the price and to match the sales pitch (which was excellent)
Had a great time for my birthday dinner.
Outstanding service and food. Very friendly atmosphere. The manager was on top of his game. No long waits.
Long wait between salad and entree bec of large parties. Pack your patience.
My wife ordered the 3oz. filet thinking it would be special. It was terrible. 95dollsrs no way. Unless I get a free meal for her we will not go back. My meal was good and it was 51 dollars . Hope to hear from you to try again. FORREST
Had a group of eleven Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening the food was very good the waiter was very good missed a few things occasionally but we were a large group
You feel like splurging, the Tomahawk Steak is good for 2. Awesome place with great sides but plan to leave super full and food for the next couple days.....
I cannot say enough wonderful things about DC Prime. I’ve been to some of the best chophouses in the country and I would put this one to compete with the best of them with more affordable prices and steaks cooked to perfection. It’s certainly the best in DC.
It started with a Happy Birthday card already on our table away from everyone else and the best waiter, Stew. He brought us a basket of in house baked bread of which the cranberry orange was to die for. I had to try hard not to fill up on that alone. He helped guide us to the lobster bites and pork belly both of which I will probably go back and order just that sometimes. The lobster was so tender and juicy. I was expecting more like a fritter, but it was whole lobster chunks tempura fried with this delicious sauce lightly coating. OMG! The pork belly was so flakey it fell apart and our only regret was getting one instead of two.
For dinner my husband had king crab legs in the garlic sherry sauce. These were a steal at $52 /lb compared to the $75 we normally pay at other places. I had a 22oz bone in ribeye that was perfectly charred, pepper crusted, buttery cut with a fork goodness even at medium well. I’ve never had a steak so good and juicy that it didn’t need any sauce, but the bernaise was excellent. Don’t forget the side dishes either! They creamed corn with bacon and poblanos was incredible. We also had lobster Mac n cheese that the kind chef surprised my husband with on his birthday. I will never not order that again, because it’s divine!
We finished with a chocolate pecan pie that was so delicious complete with a happy birthday message and a candle. Their pastry chef is quite good.
I cannot recommend this place enough. Go for birthdays, Anniversaries, because it’s Tuesday or any reason at all. It’s the kind of place you find a reason to go. Ask for Stew and get the lobster bites!
We dined on 1/4/20 with another couple at the Sterling location. Everything was very well executed from the hostess to our waiter Stu, who was gracious, efficient and friendly. Only reason for less than 5 stars is the wine list was not accurate. 2 wines ordered were out of stock. Stu honored the price on a higher cost bottle with the price of the original choice. All of our diner selections were delicious, appropriately sized for the price point and nicely plated. We had a bit of take away for enjoying later in the weekend. Can recommend for business, friend's meet-up, first date or family night out.
Expensive as most NoVa restaurants go but the best steak in the area. Very unique flavor. We eat at DC Prime pretty regularly. This was the best night for my wife and I. The steak had a wonderful charred crust - I can’t describe it but the flavor with the beef was outstanding. They could work on their salads and non-steak items - we’d go more often (can’t eat steak every night).
DC Prime is our "special occasion" choice of a great restaurant. From the time you walk in, to the time you leave, it's a very enjoyable experience. It's a bit pricey, but, for what you receive, not overpriced. Looking forward to next time.
New Year’s eve.
Not worth it. The food was ok, the service was amateurish. I expected more for the price and hype.
Came here for our 9th anniversary dinner on NYE. I had booked reservations weeks in advanced with a note that it was our anniversary. From start to finish we were rushed. The first impression walking into the door, the hostesses appearance and demeanor did not make me feel I had just walked into a nice steak house. Once we were seated directly in front of the kitchen door where we got to see several servers come in and out constantly.. very distracting for an anniversary dinner. Our server wasn't friendly, never smiled once.. it was awkward. Didnt tell about us about any specials. Had to look for him several times. All of these little details distracted us from the food.. which was good but not amazing. Got ribeye (very salty), ny strip (good), fingerling potatoes(no seasoning), margaritas(meh), creme brulee(very meh!). Such a disappointing anniversary dinner and for our first experience here.
In one word, Phenomenal. Will definitely be back soon
Food was mediocre, soup cold, steak over done and service just ok. Presentation of food could have been better. Way over priced for just an average dinner.
Great B day dinner for my son! Tomahawk steak was to die for!!!
I've been to this restaurant for drinks before, but this was my first time eating here. What a treat! The food was exceptional and everyone we encountered was nice and attentive. I will definitely be back and will also recommend!
Excellent service. Food was amazing. Very pricey but a great meal and overall experience.
I love DC Prime, from the servers to the owners. The owners and managers are always walking around chatting with customers, ensuring their meals are perfect. Our steak and lamb chops were superb, as well as the sides. Stuart was our server, and he is beyond professional and friendly. I always ask to be seated in his section. Can't wait to go back.
Birthday and anniversary
The food was great but service was not up to snuff. We had to ask for bread for the table after the salads were served. We sat with dirty dishes for 15 minutes. Took half hour to get dessert served. Just not as we have come to expect from DC Prime. Next year we are trying Eddie Merlots for Xmas eve dinner.
One word: Spectacular
Went to a Christmas Eve dinner with my mom and sister. The food was great and the service was too. The drink my sister got was disappointing but overall the food and the wine we had were amazing.
Food was great and service wasn’t bad. Just a few things that could’ve gone better, but not enough to ruin date night.
I did order a filet mignon (medium cook), however it came out more medium rare. When I brought it up to the server, she said the restaurant generally cooks steaks on the more rare side? Not sure why I was asked how I’d like it cooked then or why it wasn’t mentioned during ordering...
I did also book this dinner for my husbands birthday and confirmed by calling the day of that we will be there for this special occasion. I was told on the phone they will do something small for him, however nothing was done nor was there any acknowledgement of his birthday.
Overall, only a few small things that could’ve gone better to make it an even more special night but would still go again. Lobster bites were delicious!!
Seated immediately at reservation time-excellent.
Excellent steaks, sides and cocktails. Extensive wine list and great selection of bourbons.
Birthday celebration for a best friend
Not up to par for over $200 for two people. I can cook better steak at home. Very dry and the sides were equally as lackluster. Save your money for Ruth’s Chris or Morton’s. Least impressive steakhouse I have ever been to. Waiter was average, but didn’t go over any specials, make any suggestions, offer dessert (for my friend’s birthday) and took the check and came back inquire where the tip was. I didn’t have a chance to put cash in the envelope yet. Very loud, non-intimate environment. Felt rushed and run of the mill, which would have been more forgivable if the food was amazing. Best thing about the meal was the wine. Would not go back if I had a gift card.
Our first visit and I was impressed. Overall it was outstanding and I would certainly plan to go again in the future. I like the location. It is close to us but not in a high traffic area, so driving and parking is super easy. Presentation was awesome and absolutely everything was delicious. Want to try again soon so I can try some of the other items on the menu.
Amazing bartending staff, delicious food and great service!!
Highly recommend this restaurant. Everyone including the owner came over to say hello and our waiter Andre was outstanding. The food was divine! Go, go, go!
Everything about this restaurant is too notch! The service was excellent. The steaks and seafood are the best I've ever had. The cocktails beyond compare! Party of 6 celebrating a family birthday and this was definitely everything we had hoped for...except the price. Wow! Very expensive!
First time, definitely won’t be the last
Love this place. Been there many times and never been disappointed. Our last meal was the best. Seafood ice tower is an especially good value.
Our server Brittany was outstanding, will return and ask for her, she is a must have as a server. Very knowledgeable, caring helpful, fun to talk to, outstanding, a real plus she was a TEXAS girl
Always a great experience dining at DC Prime!!
Wonderful atmosphere, great food. The calamari appetizer was outstanding, ginger spiked sauce special. Steaks cooked perfectly. It is a bit expensive, so be prepared! Overall, terrific!
I've been to DC Prime many times with friends. This time it was a business related meal . Three in the group had never been to DC Prime, so I was interested in how they liked the evening. The response was just what I thought it would be, 5 STARS. One in the group gets to sample food all over the country, and Europe. He had nothing but good things to say about DC Prime. We will be looking forward to our next visit.
