Davy's at Canary Wharf
Ok better than average pub food good price! Friendly staff
Mixed feelings about this one. Have been to other locations which are fine, but here they seemed very unorganised and slow. What I ordered was not available and having limited veggie options I felt rushed to pick something. Food was okay but nothing special. They got one small thing incorrect (wrong type of chips) for one guest, but nothing big. Cost was reasonable. Wouldn't be my first choice to go back, but wouldn't rule it out either.
Great location ;excellent service . We didn't expect it to be as good as it was !
Great, attentive, friendly service. Food was good but nothing extraordinary. Nice setting next to water. Would come again for the professional service.
The restaurant was excellent
The food was really good.
Didn't think at all about the how busy the restaurant would be surrounded by offices but despite arriving early we were still shown to our table.
Would definitely eat here again
The chicken club sandwich is excellent - good quality ingredients (including avocado) and is not a scrimpy portion. Option of bread (brown or white) also available which is good. The chips were also very scruptious.
Good unfussy menu, good quality food and very friendly service. A nice contrast to some of the more in your face places in Canary Wharf
Eating anywhere in Canary Wharf during lunchtime can be difficult at times. Especially if you want to be served and pay within the hour you are allocated.
We ordered fish and chips and teas. The whole place was packed. So getting the waiters attention was very difficult. I had to ask for my drink multiple times, before I received it. The food was fresh and I was able to change my chips for sweet potato fries easily. An average pub lunch in my opinion. Just don't expect an express lunch!
This was the second time I took business colleagues to this restaurant and this was the second time they ran out of our chosen wine after the 2nd bottle!! Lady who served us was very friendly and efficient but unlikely to return as food was not outstanding but reasonable.
Not often you see a good ploughmans in London, but this is certianly one of them, plus the chance to wash it down with one of Davy's own brew. Gives a refreshing change to lunches normally on offer at Canary Wharf. Great simple pub grub, will go back.
I've used Davy's for a number of years for business lunches. Consistent and reliable, with good unobtrusive helpful service. Menu has recently changed and looks better, though vegetarian options could be increased
Food is reasonable and the place is very convenient, for those in Canary Wharf. Worth a go.
Davy's at Canary Wharf, Never been before, meal with friend after work. It was a good night, everything was good. Staff helpful, food good and place was busy that night…
I will go back again….
Probably not the place for a warm night given that the indoor restaurant doesn't have a lot of patrons and so lacks atmosphere. A good wine list, good friendly service and good food. Make sure you have good company so you don't have to rely on the lack of atmosphere.
The team at Davys Canary Wharf know exactly how to treat a customer and provide the perfect, friendly and private place to have a business lunch.
Great burgers and not too expensive.
One of the few pub settings in canary wharf with great pub food.
Team Christmas Lunch and Davy's delivered...three course meal for £25 per head, good wine, good service and Christmas goodwill to all its customers!
We booked a table at Davy's in Canary Wharf for a casual Christmas lunch reunion with ex-colleagues. The staff were very accommodating - good service, accurate order taking, and unfailingly polite. Everyone agreed that the food was great, and the wine was excellent. Recommended and we hope to visit again soon. Definitely one of the better choices along West India Quay.
Puds need a rethink, but starters and mains are where this place scores, and goo choice of affordable wines.
We had a group booking for 15 people for lunch - when we arrived 17 people turned up, the restaurant we great and managed to add another table quickly for us to ensure everyone could sit down. A few people wanted the thanksgiving lunch but not the full three courses - the chef agreed a price and half of the people were able to have this. Great customer service
I would recommend Davy's at Canary Wharf....easy walk from tube and DLR.
Good medium priced location... opposite river.
Great for business luncheons. Food was good quality and portions.
Like a traditional old London pub but with a great ambience.
Certainly would return again!
Early evening dinner at Davy's in Canary Wharf. Burger very nice and good wine, as always.
Good meal, in a easy to find space in Canary Wharf, very convenient for where we were staying and then going on to the 02. Only minor complaint and admittedly we ate quite early (5.30), very little atmosphere tucked around the back, whereas the main bar looking over the wharf was buzzing.
good steaks but only 4 other diners so lacked any 'buzz' !
But I would go back tomorrow - if they could do decent puds!
I went for lunch with a group of 10 and 2 of us decided to go for the vegetarian moussaka. After a 15-20 min wait this was brought to us cold in the middle. We then had to wait another 10 mins whilst they reheated it and whilst the rest of our table finished their meals. We were offered no discount for this, which I thought was very disappointing and was charged the full price. If I was to go back (big if) I would choose the fish and chips as I was told that was good.
Fine for a sandwich and a pint. Useful location for the 'new' FCA.
Worth trying with the 50% off toptable offer as the service is average at best - the crab starter was great though!
Came for dinner on a Friday evening and really enjoyed the food. Good selection on the menu and the service was very good. We will definitely be returning.
Toptable has definitely put Davy's at Canary Wharf on the map. This establishment boasts two restaurant areas but Davy's like everybody else has introduced cost cutting measures which has meant the lunchtime closure of their 'grill' restaurant leaving open only one which lacks any soft furnishings and results in a noise level so high that if one wishes to discuss business matters it's best left until mid afternoon. I believe Davy's has lost some trade because of this and will lose even more.
Good service even whilst busy, however, the food menu is limited and may suit only a particular type of diner. Wine list is very good with a good selection. Food quality was good when it arrived and whilst slightly expensive (it is canary mind) was enjoyable. Worth trying after a day at work or for business
The restaurant is an area in a back room used for corporate hire. It is often shared with parties so can be a bit noisy. e, the quality of the food is high and very good value particularly with the 50% offer. Good meat and fish. One small complaint is that I suspect the restaurant reduces the quantity of the more expensive ingredients for the 50% off the a la carte offer as a scallop dish had just two small scallops which for the full price of c£10 would be disappointing. Some good wines. Service also good.
The service was excellent and the food vas very good too ... we got the 50% off food deal but if we didn't I'd say it wouldn't be cheap ... all in all, very good .... Recomnended ....
We went to Davy's on a Tuesday. We went for 2 courses and 50% off the bill.
On starter I had beetroot and goat cheese salade. It was not having much taste and ridiculously small portion. 2 slices of beetroot, few leaves of salade and a bit of melting goat cheese. it could have been serves in a tea plate and there will still have space, The full price of it was £7.5 which is unacceptable.
My friend had the crab starter, he was happy with. I tried it and I found it was nothing special.
We then went for slow cooked pork belly. It was super fat and not tasty at all. it is said with butternut puree ( not even a tea spoon of it). it was not tasty at all, and plenty of fat. i know pork is fat, but it can be much much better than that.
From the moment we arrived the service was great. We were early but the table was available while we waited for our daughter to arrive. We ordered starters as we couldn't make our minds up on mains. That was fine. No one pressured us to make up our minds. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was good - the restaurant was buzzing but not intrusive. We had a great evening, eating at our own pace. The wine was reasonably priced and good. With a special offer of 50 per cent off, the meal was incredibly reasonable. We would definitely go back next time we are in London.
Davy's Canary Wharf doesn't seem to know what it wants to be - pub or restaurant. The dining area - and our table - was in the midst of standing groups of 'bankers' drinking and competing to see who could shout loudest. The volume of music and the subsequent level of noise from the customers was overwhelming - we couldn't hear what our waitress was asking us and she couldn't hear our replies. Convesation at the table was completely hopeless and we gave up. Fine for a drunken night after work maybe - but if you want to go out for dinner then don't go here, at least never on a weekday evening. Even with 50% off it's not cheap either.
Had a nice night out with girlfriends for its nice steak, the dining area is at the back of the bar areas, hence no interruption for girly chats
The food and service was excellent (maybe the dessert was a little disappointing but they may have been due to the raised expectations after the starter and main). Waiting time between meals was just right.
With regards to the dining area - This is situated separately to the actual bar. It is quite small in terms, not ideal for big dinner parties. It was fairly quiet in there - but we had gone during a weeknight, the bar on the other hand was packed!
We used the 50% off food deal and were delighted to find somewhere in Canary Wharf which wasn't completely crowded and offered a suitably smart lunch venue without quite as many of the usual office crowds. Our food was good but not fantastic but we really couldn't argue with the price it came to under £25 for 2 courses each and drinks! Would definitely try it again.
