The best place in DC!! Family run and very thoughtful. Would come here for every meal
I went to Darlington House during restaurant week for lunch with my partner. It's very close to the DuPont metro station stop, which is convenient. All of the food was really tasty! I had the carbonara for my main entree and it was some of the best I've ever had. I would definitely go back for the carbonara.
We came to enjoy Restaurant Week, and when we told the staff that the main dining room was too loud for us, they graciously moved us downstairs and allowed us to order from the upstairs menu.
Our waitress was superb, and the food - varied, but primarily Italian with homemade pasta - was great. Our group of three will be adding DH to our short list of fun places in DC!
The food was absolutely delicious. The only mark against them was the fact that the water was never refilled at the table, and the water glasses were very small to start. Otherwise, fantastic service and amazing food.
Overall the experience was nice. When first arriving multiple staff came to the table which was unnecessary, to where we weren't sure who our waiter was. When choosing a bottle of wine they were going to charge for the bottle without being able to to try it first. Cannolini was amazing.
The restaurant was not busy when we arrived. Background music is fun and pleasant. Excellent food reasonably priced. One of the best sea bass I've had in the past few years. Excellent service.
Great food in great neighborhood. Has the ambiance of a bnb which helps you relax and enjoy your food in the middle of the city
We had a delicious brunch at Darlington House — our omelettes were cooked to perfection and off menu requests were met both graciously and without a problem. Loved the bruschetta amuse bouche and the biscotti finish! This was not the first time we had eaten there and we will be back!
Excellent service and waitstaff. Beautiful furnishings. It is a charming restaurant. We went for brunch and the coffee was excellent, as was the food. Will return.
Very nice attentive staff. Good Italian food. Reasonably priced
I’ve been to the Darlington House three times and always enjoy their food. I’ve never waited too long to be seated or to get the meal. I really recommend their Lasanga, it’s on another level than most restaurants. Two thumbs up.
The food was fine, but it is not a place I would go again. It took a "manager" to have the bottomless mimosas we ordered applied to our tab (the server wanted to charge per drink at 3x the cost - when we asked when the bill came he had no idea what we were talking about and we had to hunt down a menu to show what we pointed out while ordering). Everyone enjoyed the food, and the portions are the proper size (not outrageously large).
Perhaps it was an off day, but we had other issues. We had one person in our party call DH the morning of our reservation and ask about some dietary restrictions (milk - and she just had a baby). She was told they could accommodate on the phone, but when we ordered (< 1 hour later) the staff said it was not possible even after checking with the kitchen.
The experience was fine, but given the plethora of choices in the neighborhood DH does not stand out. It is good for groups as they did not mind when I upped the reservation size three times without any complaints. We did linger as a group (2 hours for brunch, without complaint) but our table of 16 was only one of three parties in the entire restaurant.
My wife and I had a great experience celebrating our anniversary here. The food was good and the service was even better. Everyone was very attentive to all our needs. Also special shout out to the host Natasha. She was very kind and accommodating to us. We will definitely eat here again. I definitely recommend this restaurant for either a nice get together with friends or for having a date.
My birthday dinner
We had a lovely Saturday night dinner at Darlington House. The service was first rate. The freshly made mozzarella used with the appetizer was out of this world delicious.
Wonderful food, but the eggs on each dish were a bit salty .
Had issues with getting things right. Waiter seemed rushed and just wanted to get the orders and get us moving. Mixed up appetizers and didn't break out bill as requested. Food was very good. Then, I find out I get no points from Open Table; so, no reason to use it for this place.
My coworker and I had a wonderful lunch at Darlington House. The food was delicious and the service was excellent! We highly recommend it!
Great meal to celebrate our accomplishment!!!
This restaurant was amazing and should have been completely filled to the brim with patrons! The homemade pastas were wonderful as was the calamari and buratta. Drinks were well done and the wine selection was excellent as well.
It was a summer Saturday, so Darlington House was not filled, which was great for us because we could hear each other talk! The meal was much better than I had anticipated! Two of us had the steak, which was tender and flavorful (sliced with a mushroom sauce) with mashed potatoes, one had the lamb ragout with pasta, which he thought was delicious, and the other guy had spaghetti carbonara, which he thought was fine, but his wife's was better! The special burrata salad with pealed small tomatoes to start was outstanding, as was the soup. The other two enjoyed their appetizers; one was a caprezze salad and I forget the other one, We shared two desserts, a creme brulee and a lava cake- both very good, but not something we talked about after we ate them! We had a delicious Sicilian red wine, something I'd never tried before, but would order again! The service was very good. We'd all go back!
Excellent food and service-early dinner so no other patrons and quiet
The food was awesome. Generous portions. At our table we had many different things and ended sharing and passing plates around like crazy. Everyone enjoyed each individuals dish, but more so, the over all cuisine.
Lovely townhouse setting and an elegant yet comfortable dining room. Outstanding service at the upstairs bar and throughout our meal.
Began with drinks at bar. Traditional old fashioned well done; negroni just okay. at table, began with 2 salads, Caesar and arugula. The Caesar was pedestrian and not large enough to share. The arugula was refreshing. Slice of Parmesan a nice touch. Followed by 3 pastas on menu: tortellini, ravioli and fettuccini. All fresh, all delicious.
Didn’t linger for coffee and dessert. Seems to be a popular restaurant for large groups. If you’re seeking a quiet dinner for 2 or a conversation among 4, check the sound level before being seated.
If the staff was a bit better trained, it would have been a wonderful experience.
While waiting for the guests a few of us relaxed at bar. Once seated mixed hot starters were excellent! Dinner was pastas, chicken and fish. Excellent Italian wines. Great selection. Staff and service always Outstanding
We had a family get-together and were given personal service and a great variety of deliousis choices. Having the classy bar near in the next room allowed those interested to watch the preakness race.
The garganelle pasta was exceptional - and we all enjoyed the selection of craft beers and fine wines.
Great time for all
I booked at the Darlington for my good friend's birthday. We had about 20 women and the staff were so patient and accommodating. They were gracious in serving us as we came in because of course all of the women were running a tad bit late. The food was really good and everyone seemed pleased - with a large group it was great to be able to do al a carte instead of bottomless brunch. Wonderful service and such a cute location for a girls' brunch!
Will be back! Great food and adorable place, with great service!
Great food, excellent service! Highly recommended!!
Authentic Italian food nestled in Dupont Circle. The appetizers, wine, entrees and dessert are outstanding. Entree sizes are the perfect portion to leave a little room for dessert. There are not prices listed on the dessert menu. The limoncello is $10 - don't be surprised! It's a pricey outing, but perfect for a special occasion. The decor is very unique. This is a perfect spot if you want to have a quality dinner conversation. This is at the top of our list of DC restaurants.
Friends and family gathered at this wonderful restaurant to celebrate A college graduation. Service, food and location are wonderful. I have eaten here numerous times during visits to DC and always been happy with this restaurant.
One of my favorite restaurants . Service is prompt, friendly and efficient. The food varies from very good to excellent. I had a pasta with beef ragu that was as tasty as my Mom's.
Very Good restaurant, would give it an overall about 4.2 a bit noisy when we dined there, bit the food, atmosphere and service were all very good to great. Yes I would dine there again!!
Absolutely wonderful service. Lovely, pleasurable food, enjoyed by all. Happy get together for a Friday lunch. Look forward to going back soon.
The Darlington House was so elegant. The wait staff was extremely kind and attentive. The food was fresh and delicious. A wonderful experience.
