- RrobinGoldSan Francisco Bay Area •103 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoHurry! Uccello closes every summer for July and August. We love this place. The chef has a Japanese sense of design and texture. The salad is so beautiful and unique with toasted quinoa that I wish I could order two. The tempura prepared endive with chickpeas is one of the most original vegetarian dishes in SF. I am not a vegetarian, but I order this many times. The cheese desert feature finely wheel shaved cheese shaped like a blooming rose. All this, three courses, fixed price of $55!More infoUccello Lounge$$$$• Californian• Western Addition•4.7
- RRuthGoldSan Francisco Bay Area •189 reviews4.0Dined 3 days agoThis is one of the only places that is open late enough for a post-opera or post-symphony dinner, and it is not too far of a walk for it to be convenient. The food is very good, and there is a generous selection of wines and drinks. It would be very easy to miss this place if I hadn't done an online search for nearby restaurants -- it is almost hidden at the foot of Polk Street near Market, and their dark lighting makes it seem like they are closed from the outside. The interior is an ample but unified room with bar and table seating and old movies are projected on one wall. It is cosy and tasteful, though we have to use the phone's flashlight mode to read the menu. The service is very quick, which is particularly well appreciated when eating late at night. I strongly recommend this place as a post event destination, and I am sure it is just as great for any dinner.More infoBar & Bean Fusion$$$$• American• Civic Center / Hayes Valley / Van Ness•4.2
