We also have live jazz bands at the weekend.
The restaurant accepted my booking yet when I arrived it was closed. I took a taxi there only to have to get another one straight back. Appalling.
I did not dine at the restaurant. But I did try to modify my order trough opentable Web and phone the restaurant. For three days, not until the third day I got some response through Facebook. And it told me the restaurant was closed for a week. ?
We tried the pork ribs and the beef ribs, it was ok. I expected a lot more considering the restaurant's name. I would definitely order the beef ribs again, not the pork. The service was great, everyone was very attentive. Considering food and services, overall experience was good in my criteria yet I expected something else with the food. I found it a bit pricey as well. Not the best ribs I have had and for less money so I would recommend improving quality or reducing the price a bit to be at par.
Having booked a late table when we arrived we were told that it was too late to eat. It took the appearance of the owner or maitre de to change the waiter's mind. We did stay as we had planned this post performance meal and didn't want to up sticks at 10.30 in search of something else in an area we didn't know. It took a while before we no longer felt like an inconvenience! It would be helpful if late bookings were not offered/ accepted if restaurants don't want to take them even on a Saturday evening close to the Albert Hall. The waiter was helpful but it was a poor meal from the kitchen.
This is my second visit to Crib de Rib and it wasn't disappointing, ordered the Beef short rib with chips and coleslaw and was very tasty, the restaurant was relatively quiet but then it was rather early, still I would still go back again next time there is an offer on!
My starter, the crab, was covered in a thick layer of cream. It had hardly any flavour and I found it a struggle to eat. The ribs were of good quality, but no better than from a gastropub.
The wine list was limited. The wine I selected was not available. All the wines were overpriced. £42 for an average bottle of Rioja crianza - I would normally expect to pay around £30 for this at a restaurant of this standard.
I shall not return.
We enjoyed Crib De Rib on our European vacation. It was nothing less than phenomenal.
Checked online prior to booking as my friend can't eat red meat and it had chicken on the menu so it was fine to book here. On arriving and checking the menu it had no chicken on at all which I found very silly and annoying for my friend.
ordered 2 light ale's of the same and then we were told there were only 3 in stock which was very silly to have so little.
The crispy squid was chewy and too crispy - felt like a reheat. The bread was ok but felt soggy.
The beef was ok but not as I expected. It was quiet dry but had a pot of sauce to use if you wanted more. Tiny amount of coleslaw on the side and we shared some chips which said "Tripple Cooked chips" but looked more like McDonald's chips.
We were the only ones dining at the time so our food should of theory been great. Wouldn't like to eat here when it's really busy.
We had excellent food (beef and pork ribs), good French wine and very good service for a reasonable price! And the restaurant itself is quite cool.
The management will change soon, anyway, so something could change in future.
Limited pre-theatre menu is fine, but not when we then discover that nearly a third of the dishes were not available and nor was 1 of 2 house wines...........................felt even sorrier for the quartet who arrived after us..........................as I'd had the last portion of [cold dish] crab at 6.15 pm. Food was good, service adequate initially but improved with a different person. Can't see how they'll survive at this rate unless someone starts MANAGING it. Won't get repeat business from me.
We went with the 50% off food offer, which is actually for everything on the menu aside from drinks. had the beef rib and chilli squid and both were very tasty, they also sell local craft beers - would recommend!
The £15 menu is really good value. Nice ribs and squid.
Thanks for a lovely evening!
Very average restaurant. Staff quite friendly but food was very average. You should not put descriptions of food that were mis-leading. If you state on the menu that your chips were 'Triple' cooked then please do not supply McDonalds frites.
Our daughter is gluten and dairy intolerant but the staff were not sure what to suggest for her.
Shame because location is good and premises are quite nice but hey ho you live and learn.
We came here on bank holiday Monday and we were the only ones dining at lunch. We had a deal for chilli squid, ribs and lager for £15, which was good value for money. At first the service was a little brusque, but our server warmed up and became friendly and jovial which we enjoyed. The food was good; not outstanding but worth the money. The setting was lovely, but obviously lacked ambience as we were the only ones in there. I'm sure on a Friday or Saturday evening with lots of people it would be really nice. Would return, but probably not at full price. Give it a try.
Booked this restaurant for a pre Albert Hall event on Easter Sunday. Booking accepted and confirmed, 24 hours before they must have realise it was Easter so cancelled the booking.
Either Crib de Rib or Opentable need to get their acts together, Easter dates were published quite a bit earlier so there is no excuse for accepting bookings and then not honouring them.
We tried both the beef ribs and the pork ribs, as me and my friend are both big rib lovers, but unfortunately both rib options are average at best. I've had better beef ribs in Bodeans (though I don't rate Bodeans pork rib options, always too dry), the pork ribs here were especially poor, better off going to TFI Friday's.
The beef tartare I think starter was really goid though, but octopus starter my friend got was again disappointing.
The service, decor and location of the place were good though
good flavours - tuna tartare with a chilli kick and pork ribs were tender (esp with honey sauce) though accompanied by coleslaw which had no dressing and tasted a bit bland and lifeless. few covers at 730 on Tuesday but has potential. Good value with 50% discount but otherwise reasonable dinner experience.
We live nearby and were very disappointed. The food and wine menu is not the same as that on the opentable. Quite a few restaurants on opentable tempts you with that but when you are there the menu is different. The wine we wanted were out of stock but I think later on some of the diners did have it. The prices are also different from the menus on the opentable website. Surely this cannot be right. I gave up desert as it took too long to take my order. One waiter passed our table at least three times without taking the desert order. He was more interested in setting up table nearby although the restaurant was not full.
Attended pre a concert at the Albert Hall.
We dined off the a la Carte menu and on a 50% saving basis and as a result it was an absolute bargain.
The restaurant is a a modern and light (on the ground floor) dining area witha basement level dining room also.
We had the cheese bread and the chilli squid to start, the bread would virtually double for two to share and the squid was very tasty and a good size.
For the mains we had the sirloin and this was excellent however I went for the beef rib which was superb.
As we dined early we one table of about five or six so the service was attentitive and our main waiter was very informative on food choice and advising regarding portion sizes etc.
With the deal that was on this was an a tremendous experience, even withougt it i think it would qualify for a low 4 star score on the value.
Had pork ribs and fillet steak. I would expect them both to be superb considering there isn't much variety on the menu and these being the speciality of the restaurant, however they were just good enough. Ribs were a little dry and BBQ sauce nothing special. Steak was cooked well, though wasn't spectacular for a fillet. Ice-cream was delicious and good value. No children's menu or smaller portions available so had to share ours. Service was good and friendly although they seemed quite rushed. Value was good with generous discount but would have been disappointed at full price.
Fancied ribs and this place has been well reviewed. Took my family and the whole place was as previously mentioned 'a little bizarre'. Every restaurant was very busy locally and this place was empty [should have known then], shown to table in a v. over the top decorated room. a lot of the food was missing from the on-line menu, no burgers or fish.
Our ribs we ordered were ok but everything was extra, small portions.
Should have gone to the Big Easy but they were full!!!
Good friendly service, good food, amazing beef ribs
We went here for a pre-theatre meal, mid-week. Convenient for the Royal Albert Hall. We had steaks which were huge. I could not have eaten a starter and main ( the offer stated starter and main for 50% discount, but we were allowed to have just mains, thankfully.) The meat was tender but slightly under-seasoned. The chips were ok, but were the weakest element. Properly cooked fresh chips rather than oven fries would have lifted the meal to excellent. I recommend it but only on the deal as it is otherwise very expensive for something that is not 5 star.
We had another venue cancel last minute so booked with 24 hours notice for a group of 20. They were very helpful with accommodating us and the group were very happy with the service.
Enjoyed a lovely me with my partner here on a Friday night. Had the chilli squid starter, beef rib main and one of the special mains. We both really enjoyed it. Friendly service and lovely cocktails. I was surprised it wasn't that busy.
We had our valentines meal at the restaurant. It was lovely. Myself and my husband we were well impressed with service, atmosphere and food. Definetly will come back to this restaurant.
We ate here for lunch on Valentines day prior to the matinee of Cirque de Soleil. We were the only couple in the restaurant but our dining experience whilst not exceptional was more than adequate. Our waiter was superb. Attentive, informative but not too familiar. Starters were divine (chili squid and the Georgian bread) and the Beef ribs were excellent. Chips not worth it and expensive for the portion size. Otherwise very good.
The staff here were absolutely lovely but the restaurant itself was a huge disappointment. Almost empty. Service was extremely slow, they had only one beer and even that had run out a year earlier. Starters were good but took forever to come. Same with the mains. I'd give it a miss.
Starters of scallop salad, fried squid and beef tartare prepared well.
The beef ribs were large and unfortunately were as tender as the previous occasions and very chewy. Very disappointed.
Good friendly service. Based on this third time, unfortunately I would not recommend Crib de Rib
The staff were friendly and were really helpful in explaining the menu. We asked for recommendations and went with the pork ribs and special bread. Both were absolutely amazing!
I booked dinner for 2 with 50% off the food. The first impression was that the restaurant was very quiet even for a Wed evening. The young lady welcoming us was lovely and very attentive. She provided a great service and was extremely friendly, for me was the highlight of the restaurant. Everything else was quite average, the food took a long time to be ready despite them having only 2 tables eating. Ordered chili squid, bread with cheese and beef ribs, not particulary tasty, found it plain. Ribs had too much meet and didn't taste great. With the 50% discount is a good deal though
This is the second time I have been to Crib de Rib and food especially the ribs and steaks were well prepared.
Friendly efficient service. The only disappointing aspect was they no longer provided the 4 sauces when ordering ribs. Very good nevertheless and 50% discount deal on the food is always a bonus
At first my husband and I weren`t impressed when we pre-booked through opentable and they wanted to seat us in a corner in the bar area. Considering it was a dinner to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary that really put me off right away especially because they weren`t busy at all. So the lady then finally gave us a seat downstairs in the proper restaurant. I was still in doubt but the food spoke for itself, absolutely delicious. Cooked to perfection... I was just disappointed that it says on opentable that the beef tartar is prepared on your table and they didn`t, just came on the plate. The wine was superb and the service was very good, the lady that took care of our table was very nice and funny and she showed us how the kitchen works. Highly recommend it.
Great ribs but sauces not impressive. starters limited and desserts very ordinary. Anything other than ribs very expensive and would not recommend without special offer. Good atmosphere and helpful staff.
We were a party of 7 who went to the restaurant after a matinee at the Royal Albert Hall.
Whilst not extensive, the menu had enough choice to satisfy everyone. Most of the party went for steaks which were perfectly cooked and very good quality. The starters all met with approval and overall the presentation and ambiance was very good.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to others and will go back.
We turned up early so had a couple of drinks. Nice decor but the place stank of stale cigarettes. We ordered our drinks and my husbands arrived before mine did. We then waited 10 mins for mine.
Nice enough staff but service not great and we ended up leaving because of the stale cig smell so didn't try the food!
Had a dinner here with friends who were visiting. Had an amazing time, literally all we done during dinner was say how good the food was and how perfect our meal was turning out to be. Such great service too, definitely made our night more enjoyable.
Nice venue, nice location, nice service and nice price (using the opentable offer) - would return!
Really enjoyed going to this restaurant, the food was excellent and the service was great.
We dined a party of 10 on 27th, food was very good although menu is abut limited. Service was good and waiter friendly but was the only people in the restaurant so lacking an atmosphere. We made advantage of the 50% discount on food which was excellent value, but it was spoilt by the restaurant trying to charge nearly 20% service charge. I was happy to pay for service (although I am not sure our waiter would have seen it) and did, to be fair to the restaurant they didn't argue when questioned. If the place had been warmer and some atmosphere it would have been very good.
Crib de Rib is rated 3.5 stars by 75 OpenTable diners.
