Decor a little tatty, bathroom doors had gaps in I could see through. Some meat a little overcooked and desserts not amazing. Ate from signature sharing menu
The food although lovely in taste, was cold. Due to being booked on the last table seating (which was also delayed as was not ready on arrival, then had to wait 30 mins in the bar spending money on drinks and then all of a sudden rushed up to our table to ensure we were seated before the chef goes home we were told) the waiter offered to “warm it up” 🤷🏾♀️ As the kitchen was now closed. Complimentary drinks were given but still a high bill for cold food
Staff really below expectations. Booked in advance and thru open table and they kept offering only the a la carte menu. Requested table in advance for bday celebration and they could not secure it either
Really bad experience
Amazing vibes and food. Everything we ordered was so good! Go for the Cantonese style lobster noodles , they tasted amazing. I made a review on my food page therestaurantlist_
While the restaurant made the effort to carry out a birthday request, the food did not meet expectations. It was not good value for money, it was a robbery.
Brilliant service and ambiance! Would definitely recommend for a nice evening dinner.
Very loud and busy. Service was not bad but suffered on account of how busy it was. Food average, limited flavours. I have eaten here before and food has been much better
Too dark can’t even see the menu properly , too noisy, the food is just normal , but very expensive.
The seat is tinny , can’t even turn your body.
Not recommended if you want to have a special dinner with your loved ones. Ruined my date night.
Great deal 3 courses and a glass of champagne for £33. One or two dishes have a £5 surcharge but it was still tremendous value for a superb meal.
Took advantage of the London Restaurant Festival offer with 13 course a menu plus bubbly for £33.50. Plenty of delicious food (was full after the starters, and there were still 3 main courses left). Delicious cocktails. Our waitress was very lovely and accommodating - swapped some of our meals. This wasn’t our first time in crazy bear either. But when normally it’s quite pricey with this deal it was amazing.
Food was tasty, service was ok, space too tight between tables. Far too dark at bar and in the toilets and restaurant can do with a bit of a renovation.
Visited for a lunch on a Saturday. The table we sat at was very small for two people and squeezed into a corner. There was no atmosphere, all the tables are laid out to give no view of the restaurant, we could have been sitting in someones small lounge. If you like a restaurant with a buzzy vibe, this is not for you.
The food was ok, starters nice but main course quite bland, all dishes needed more flavour and seasoning. Drinks were very expensive (£42 for two glasses on champagne, this might be London but that's ridiculous!).
On the plus side service was very good, staff polite and friendly, but would not return. There are much nicer places to go in London.
Booked a late table and arrived with 5 minutes remaining before the kitchen closed. Wasn’t a problem and the food was lovely. Friendly service. Would go again.
This restaurant is very expensive for the quality of the food. We had satay chicken to start which was dry, veg and prawn tempura which was chunky and not refined. Then two currys for main which lacked any depth in flavour and neither meat had been cooked in the sauce and were not tender as they should be. We were very disappointed in the quality of the food.
I expected much more.
Restaurant and menu-Fantastic.
Drinks at the bar downstairs- too expensive
Hugely disappointed with this restaurant. Food quality was poor, especially for the price we paid. Some of the food arrived cold. The meat dishes were full of fatty pieces of low quality meat. We tried a spoonful of the dessert and did not touch the rest of it; it was that bad. This used to be a nice restaurant but the experience totally ruined our evening. We will never be going back. The good days of this restaurant are over. Avoid!
It's tired, what once was cool and cutting edge now looks old and frayed. Cramped seating made moving around difficult and risky - I nearly knocked our neighbour's wine glass over trying to manoeuvre my way out to go find some soya sauce...
The service was cheerful but clueless. My soup was delivered along with the announcement that my wife's dim sum would be taking a further ten minutes...how is that acceptable?
The drinks were incorrect, the waiters' knowledge of the menu almost non-existent. the bill was not on the cheap side either.
This place has seen better days.
Won't be going back.
Worst experience ever, and not a recommended. Very rude staff, we asked to move table as we was sandwiched between a family group of 15+. Very awkward, after being grunted at by the staff, we were offered to be moved. Asked if I could move the chair as it was very cramped, the man serving just said 'no' and walked off. WAY to much seating, poor layout and no air conditioning makes it unbelievably unbearable. We had one drink and left for another restaurant as we couldn't wait to leave. The manager who was at the door as we left, didnt even ask why we left so quickly, so customer satisfaction is clearly not high up on the agender. We will never return, even if a meal and drinks offered for free. Dont waste your time attending here.
You need new chairs and very uncomfortable seating
Great food, great service. A really nice experience overall.
Sushi overpriced. Staff is nice and ambience as well but I believe you can eat same sushi quality for less.
The wasabi mayo and sauces used sometimes override the sushi flavour.
Great service and tasty food. Hadn't been for a while and the place looks like its very tired looking. The prices should matches the interior. Cracked and ripped leather seats.
The place could do with a redecorate but the food is amazing. Only issue we had is that we felt very cramped together. Not enough space
Went for my boyfriends birthday. Very friendly welcome but was seated in a very awkward table in the aisle so asked to be moved when another table became available. All the tables were extremely close together which made getting in and out of very uncomfortable and not relaxing staring at another diner eating or feeling like you’re sharing a table with them. Toilets were and I mean pitch black making it impossible to see where you were going, find a cubicle or differentiate which door was male or female. Looked like a power cut had taken place so wasn’t impressed. Food was delicious but not worth the price tag considering everything overall.
Food was lovely and service and seating nice but I have had my card debited for an extra £54 not authorised after I left and this has not been refunded after countless phone calls and emails. I am still awaiting contact
Always love the Crazy Bear group and visit the Fitzrovia branch in particular very often. I always use opentable and very disappointed that they don’t accept dining reward cheques, nor do the staff even know what it is. We had a lovely dinner but this experience was reduced when it came to payment. The staff were untrained and nervous and unapologetic. Not a very nice experience
Tables were crammed togther, leaving little privacy from surrounding people.
We were sat on a long sofa chair which was uncomfortable to sit on
Our table was wobbly too
We went there for my birthday service was amazing plus I had to wait quite a long time for a cocktail that was on the house.
Good atmosphere, but food average, meat was very tough. Service was mixed.
Great atmosphere and very attentive service. Would definitely revisit
We had a baby with us who is 6 months and did not require extra attention as she could sit on my lap, but it was made into extra big deal.. started moving tables.. rearranging stuff, got few complaints directly as well “should let us know in advance”. Well sometimes it doesn’t work that way when you have babies...!
So we felt very unwelcome from the beginning. The service was below average and food was good, apart from duck salad which was pretty bad, didn’t eat it! We come there all the time, but I think we will take a break and look for alternatives with better service
Food and service was overall very very good, certainly on par with what I’ve had before dining and staying with the Crazy Bear Group.
We arrived and stood at the entrance for appx 8 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and when we were, we were given the index followed by one moment please.
This was disappointing as I’ve been here twice before and there has always been someone at the TIL ready to accommodate us.
When we were finally seated it took an amazing amount of time before we were even asked for our drinks. I had to make a point of welcoming back the waiter to our table.
Food was amazing as always but on today’s occasion my experience was severely overpriced.
Very disappointed that I was embarrassed I had suggested the restaurant.
Food was good, venue was underwhelming!
Drinks expensive but god choice. Staff friendly not as professional as most high end restaurants.
Great food and excellent service with flamboyance stemming from the decor to head of house. Had a great time.
Pork rib starter very nice. Green Thai curry tasty. Salted caramel dessert not pleasant. Champagne was corked. Charged for water, but not made clear that this would be the case. Overall, meal and service ok but not worth £33 per head. Disappointing given the photos of the restaurant online. The glitzy part is the bar downstairs, not the restaurant.
Great food and venue however the service was horrid, having to consistently wait to get a waiters attention as no one checked in on us, after they had cleared the table they left us there for 20 minutes before I managed to grab someone’s attention to get the bill, and then charged 13% waiting charge! Completely ridiculous
The table was 40 minutes late. No apology, no explanation. Just it wasn’t ready. They sat us downstairs in a corner in the bar where no one took our drink order after 20 mins. I think they couldn’t see us there. We ended up sitting at the bar. The barman was great.
The sides were limited here - nothing potato based. My bf really wanted the seafood sharing platter which just doesn’t really go with noodles or Chinese rice. The sitting is next to each other not opposite which wasn’t my favourite.
The waiter was great.
Beaconsfield at crazy bear is wonderful - so that is my comparison
We went for a birthday meal. The service was excellent we were very well looked after. They gave us a birthday dessert with a candle and a complimentary glass of champagne. The waitress was very attentive. The only slight issue we did not like the sitting arrangement we were very close to next table.
Nice interesting cocktails, albeit on the pricey side. It was incredibly quiet for a Thursday evening, although that made it nice and easy to chat. Nice place - as long as you don’t mind it being so dark!
