We were really looking forward to going to ‘the most romantic restaurant in the world’. We had organised a babysitter and this was to be our first night out since our child’s birth. The booking had been in place for many, many months. It was announced that restaurants could re-open and we were delighted and couldn’t wait. Unfortunately the restaurant is still closed and made no attempt to contact us. Even on the day of the planned meal, open table sent us a confirmation of the booking. When I called the restaurant just to make certain I got an answer phone message directing us to their website. Their website had no information about whether they were open or closed. I emailed the restaurant and got no response either. I was so annoyed and frustrated. Hardly the sort of service levels of allegedly the ‘most romantic restaurant in the world’. Certainly isn’t in my book. Very, very, very poor. To be honest I had to provide scores of 1 out of 5 because the system doesn’t accept 0 or negative values which is what the restaurant definitely deserves.
I can’t believe you have asked me for a review when restaurants are closed how ridiculous . This restaurant is totally amazing I have only put these scores because I am annoyed open table has sent me this !!!
Cancelled before it needed to be. Very disappointing.
Everything about this place was amazing. I thought being in covent garden it would be a tourist trap but I was glad to be wrong. The service food and value for money were great. I would definitely recommend.
Romantic place for sure, but not sure it worth the money. The mood is good, service was however a bit poor, not the best waiter we had. His wine pouring was rough, difficulty to understand what he was saying(we were both english/french speaker), he made mistake with the note and not very friendly. The food was good, classic but nothing really stunning.
You will be happy for the mood.
The service, the food and everything was good except for the ambiance.
I was called and told, one day before my reservation, that the main room was full and we were replaced to ‘one of the best’ tables on the 2nd floor. We were seated right next to the service room, at a table which was clearly putted there because of the fullness of the place, under super fake flower arrangements...
Normally, I would understand over selling something to get costumers but I thought this wouldn’t be the case at this restaurant, I waited three weeks for this reservation so, I am disappointed and will not be going back
Great food and outstanding service, set in an amazing venue. Really high-end restaurant at a moderate price range.
.very good service and food was superb! Been trying to book a table since last few weeks ago for hubby’s birthday now I know why it gets so busy...we get a good seat and everything was perfect! My new favourite restaurant now in London! Highly recommended!👍🏻
We had a wonderful evening. The food was amazing, service attentive but unobtrusive and I could not recommend Clos Maggiore enough.
Superb, understated excellence in all respects. Friendly and attentive staff, whilst remain very professional in their service.
The food and the staff are amazing and we had a great experience
Fabulous food and beautiful surroundings
An amazing experience and great romantic restaurant. The food and the service was perfect. The design and the place were amazing. The best place to make a great night.
The food was absolutely divine! We got to peak into the fairy room. It was lovely, but so was our intimate second floor seating area. We had the tasting menu with wine pairings. There were 3 things that weren’t top notch. 1. We could barely understand the waiter, 2. We were not asked if the food was good until the plates were collected and 3. The rhubarb dessert was a disappointment after the other 4 courses were so amazing. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
We went for the pre theatre set menu which was very good value although the drinks doubled the bill! Food was very high quality and service was fantastic. Setting in the conservatory was beautiful. Would definitely like to return again.
Had a lovely meal here on Tuesday 10/03. The staff were welcoming, friendly, attentive and nothing was ever a problem for them! Their product knowledge and service was excellent, couldn’t fault a single thing.
We had the 3 course Pre Theatre menu, which is so reasonably priced compared to some places, the food was outstanding, amazing seasonal produce!
We were seated in the conservatory area which now I can understand why it’s a popular request!
Would definitely recommend to anyone and will definitely return next time I’m in London!
Although we book two days before, we got a seat near the conservatory ( flower ) . The lunch menu + wine was very reasonable and delicious except for my mum’s pork stroganoff. There was something missing in their sauce ? Didn’t really taste like stroganoff . Towards the end of the lunch there were no staff to take our dessert menu and waited for 15 min ? And no one was at the reception to claim our coats + scarf so I had to go and ask one of the bartender to get it for us . Overall it was nice to have lunch there and we will definitely go back there again !
service from front of house to waiters, wine waiter always friendly and efficient.
Noise level excellent, seating comfortable.
not too attention, just right amount.
Very good value for set menu.
Tend to book Clos Maggiore rather than Clubs and other restaurants in the area.
often recommend restaurant to friends.
We felt very looked after. Lovely food, great wine and ambience
The set menu was good value
A nice meal, but they should let you know in advance if you're not going to be seated in the main part of the restaurant. The part we were seated in was quite characterless.
Great service and a beautiful place. Try to sit in the conservatory if possible
Amazing place and atmosphere with amazing food.
Biggest wine list I’ve ever seen!
Great place for romantic special occasions.
Amazing food with a lovely romantic atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great date spot.
What an Amazing place!!!!
Very special place to celebrate ....
As always the experience here was fantastic. Staff are very helpful and the attention to detail is outstanding
Beautiful restaurant. Loved the fireplace and decorations.
Tasty food, bit over priced for what it is, but lovely fire and good service.
Lovely atmosphere, service and food. Tried the tasting menu and wine pairing , around £100 per person. The only disappointing bit is the braised beef for main is too salty and dry. Everything else is fantastic
Excellent service and food! I recommended to other teams and never felt sorry!
It was a horrible wet and windy day - but our welcome at Clos Maggiore was warm and welcoming. The service was friendly and attentive but not overly so. The food was absolutely delicious and because it was my husband’s birthday, he was given a little celebratory candle to blow out and petit fours after the meal. We were going to the theatre afterwards but our meal was not rushed, just really well-timed throughout. We have already booked again - this is a fabulous new find for us.
We had the most enjoyable lunch to celebrate a special birthday. Recommend for lunch or dinner. As soon as you walk through the door you are welcomed with a smile. The staff here really look after you extremely well. We will definitely be back to dine at this restaurant again!
Inexperienced waiter was unfamiliar with the menu, the set lunch pricing and finally dropped my guest’s mucky knife on her lap when clearing
We come here for every birthday / anniversary and are always blown away by the food and service. Truly our favourite restaurant in London!
We expected good food and got it, and the ambience was as billed, romantic, classic without being fussy or stifling, subdued buzz of chatter making it sufficiently lively but still easy to have a conversation. But its the quality of the staff that stands out, right from the moment we pushed through the front door. The waiting staff are exemplary, friendly without being too familiar, helpful without being obsequious, knowledgeable, informative and nothing was too much trouble. The sommelier was outstanding, listening carefully to our preferences, getting our budget range spot on without a word passing between us and his recommendation was just right for us. Across the room diners were relaxed and comfortable, with the waiting staff giving equal care and attention to everybody. We were sorry to leave.
An outstanding restaurant. Our first visit and certainly not our last.
Quite rightly termed the most romantic restaurant in the UK, it competes with some of the best anywhere - the standard of food, service and attention to detail are unsurpassed. Moreover, the value presented by the set menu is remarkable.
I was so disappointed and upset when I arrived here and was sat by the door, after requesting a set in the conservatory. This places is tiny and no where near as big as it looks on line. It's beautiful but only if your sat where the flowers were. We were told that you had to book atleast a year in advance to get one of the few tables there when we questioned our table , which is fair but maybe say that on your site! We went especially for that and was sat in the door way. I felt cold and couldn't enjoy my evening because of it. Don't get me wrong the service and food is great, but you pay for your location and we were so underwhelmed. Do not Dine here unless you are guaranteed one of those seats. My partner was so upset. We had just got engaged and it was my birthday and when he mentioned it, they said there was nothing they could do. Really disappointed, however service was good and good wine. Bit overpriced for a walkway seat though.
Beautiful restuarant with a nice setting. The food was lovely and the staff were a delight!
The conservatory is absolutely stunning - so much so that I'd say it's almost not worth going unless you sit in there. The food was very high quality, and focussed on classic dishes rather than anything unusual or experimental. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing, which was good value for money. The sommelier did a great job at pairing and explaining the wines. However, I would say the service lets this place down. It was professional and business-like, not friendly or welcoming like you'd expect for a romantic setting.
We got a table at the first floor: fireplace, flowered ceiling, wine glass wooden walls... everything was stunning.
We got a really great and quality service, in a quiet environment. The food and drinks were excellent!
and they went he extra mile to make our anniversary memorable!
