I was referred to Ciara by a nurse at GW hospital just across the street. I arrived late on a Friday afternoon, just before happy hour. Since it was my first time going there, I asked for guidance on the menu. My waiter, Miquel, was very nice and helpful. Menu was short (like a cafe or bistro) but offered something for everyone. Food was well prepared and tasteful (the sweet potato fries were excellent, as was my seared tuna salad).
As I ate, the volume level increased as more and more happy hour attendees arrived. Seems to be a very popular spot! The dining area is separated from the bar area; although you could hear their voices, you didn't have to fight your way past them to enter or exit the restaurant.
All in all, a good first impression. I'd probably go there again if I'm in the neighborhood.
I met one friend for Happy Hour which runs from 4-7 pm. The food and drink options were excellent and the price outstanding. I met a second friend for dinner at 6:30 pm. The Happy Hour menu was not available in the restaurant, so we should have stayed at my table in the bar areas for initial drinks and small plates before moving into the restaurant if needed.
I have visited this restaurant quite frequently. I keep going back because of its close location to work and the metro. Great food and customer service.
Perfect ending after our 3 hour walk along National Mall. Everything was just Perfect...the food, the service, the cocktails! Everyone was very happy with their entree, including the kids. Food was delish!!! If you're in the area, stop searching and just make the reservation, you won't be disappointed!
I had not been to any of the Circa restaurants before, but I saw all of the previous good reviews and decided to give it a try. It is very convenient to the Foggy Bottom metro, which is where I came from, and is a good place to have a bite before crossing back over to take a shuttle to the Kennedy Center.
My waitress was friendly and attentive. I got the grilled chicken sandwich, which was wonderful. Good flavor and grilled nicely. I followed up with the chocolate chip cookies, which arrived warm. They give you 3, which is more than enough for one person.
All in all, I had a really good meal and would recommend Circa if you are in the Foggy Bottom area or are looking for a place to go before (or after) the Kennedy Center.
Have been to Circa in the past for dinner and always had a good experience. Went for brunch and while all the food had good taste and presentation both my wife and daughters food (Chesapeake Benedict & American Bisto) were lukewarm at best. No one really returned to the table until we had finished eating (we had a time constraint) so we were not able to advise of the issue. When we were approached, a manager was sent over who was very apologetic and comped the entire meal which was all that could be done at that point. Glad she handled the situation as she did which is why I didn’t give fewer stars.
Small menu, but everything is delicious. And no matter how busy they are, you always get great service. And super casual!
Any time we go to the Kennedy Center, the evening begins with Circa. The food is extremely good and my wife appreciates the portions are not huge; as a "big" eater myself, however, even without gargantuan portions I never leave hungry. Ingredients are fresh and the food is very well prepared, and the wait staff if very attentive. I highly recommend Circa!
We enjoyed a really good meal at the new Circa in Gallery Place. The Bulgogi Lettuce Wraps were as good as advertised and Tuna Poke Nachos were tasty as well. Everyone really enjoyed their entrees, as we had the Bison Blue-Cheese Burger, the Veggie Stir Fry and the NY Strip. We liked the atmosphere, which is very cool, and had awesome service from Sean. We will be back!!!
Great for brunch
Had dinner on Friday night and enjoyed the whole place so much we went back for brunch on Saturday. Staff were very helpful and attentive, both menus were excellent and we thought the prices were good.
In from out of town and picked the place off Yelp... Went on a Friday night -- place was pretty busy, but we had a reservation and were seated immediately on arrival. Service was great, and didn't feel rushed at all despite general hubbub. Would definitely go back here next time I'm in the neighborhood.
Overall very good experience, our server Zoe was great! Friendly, in a genuine way and pleasant to chat with throughout meal. Food was very good and presented well. Cocktails were on point and creative. Only comment would be to vary wine by glass options.
Prior to a show at the Kennedy Center we tried CIRCA for the first time. All of us really enjoyed our meals. My dad talked about his scallops more than the show! The restaurant was lively (we ate during happy hour) so expect the noise level to be high. Overall a great vibe and a repeat dinner spot for us for sure.
I had the scallops with mushroom risotto. It was phenomenal. I literally ate every single particle of food I had, and considered ordering another serving to go. It was very filling AND that good! The bread pudding was also wonderful and served warm with vanilla ice cream. I stopped eating it when my ice cream was gone because it was a tad sweet for my taste in bread pudding. Don't let that stop you from ordering it though! I'm pleased and will definitely be back for more.
Very good food and service but extremely noisy
Why do they have to stream music when people are talking. Just makes them talk louder over the music
Service was very good...we ask to be reseated to get away from the draft of the open air porch door for the outside space, which they did. Our server was attentive to our needs and very friendly. Unfortunately the food wasnt up to par. My wife had the sea scallops over risotto. The risotto was under cooked and lumpy while the sea scallops were not done and still grey on the inside when they should be a uniform color throughout. She sent her plate back and the manager brought the second attempt back...still slightly undercooked....I ordered the lobster ravioli while tasty, the ravioli was slightly undercooked as well and chewy. The restaurant was not busy at all, large bar crowd and street crowd but most were there for drinks. Arriving at 5PM we were one of the first orders for the kitchen that night. The manager did take the cost of the my wife's order off the tab. With so many establishments to choose from in DC, this one was just a miss...perhaps a bad night in the kitchen not sure...
Fresh, flavorful and beautiful food!
Delicious Brunch! The Southern Chicken Benedict is a must -yum!
Outdoor seating was enclosed and heated, perfect!
This was a post race brunch. I really appreciated the manager accommodating for one additional guest who decided to join last minute. Food was fantastic and so was the server.
Extremely loud. Food was good. Surprised not more college students considering the location.
CIRCA at Foggy Bottom is our go-to restaurant whenever we are going to the Kennedy Center. It is directly across from the Foggy Bottom Metro, or if we drive, there is a garage about a block away for much less than at the Kennedy Center. Then we take the free shuttle to and from the Center.
We love everything about CIRCA. Their specialty cocktails are original and fun to try. The food is outstanding; we have never had a dish we didn't like. Sometimes, a group will share the small plates that are divine. We love the Brussels sprouts, the bruschetta, the poke tuna nachos, the calamari - well, all of them! My favorite entree is the scallops, but I have been there with nine other people, and every person has enjoyed their meal whether it was a salad, flat bread, sandwich, or entree.
The service is very good. Even when it is crowded, when we let them know when we have to catch the shuttle, we are always done on time.
Went to brunch mid afternoon on Sat. Missed the crowds, so quiet. Accommodated 7 year old nicely too. Great service! Food excellent.
Food was very good but the service was delayed; took 40 minutes from when we sat down to get our food, mostly because it took around 25 minutes or so before our server took our order.
Outside dining is comfortable and energetic. Service was terrific. A great place for a birthday diner
Great selection & food
Lunch with long time friends I hadn’t seen in almost a year. I had the sesame tuna avocado salad. It is outrageous! I can’t wait to go back to eat it again— super fresh, just the right amount of dressing and spice. Loved it! (Also for sweet potato fries on the side and they were delicious too).
Really cool atmosphere and the food was great. Our server was very attentive as well.
The noise was the only distraction really. A very loud group was seated next to our party. It was an office lunch, but not a business lunch per se, so it wasn't the worst thing in the world.
Great spot with a great location. Convenient to the GW metro and entire west end of DC. Good lunch menu options. Great indoor and outdoor seating for business lunches.
Great dinner...a little crowded in the main dining area. I think there would be outside seating in warmer weather. I would recommend.
I always enjoy coming here. Although it is on the pricier side, the food is always delicious and the service wonderful. They rotate their menu quite often which is refreshing as well!
We visited for Easter with my son who goes to GW. It was a delicious meal and our server, Amanda, was kind and on top of things! Had a fabulous time!
Circa can be relied on to offer a good meal, well-served. I always enjoy a meal there.
We went her earth luggage as we were heading out of town and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. They seated us early of our reservation, owned the outdoor shades for us and meet every need. It food was lovely. The waitress was terrific. I would highly regimens Circa. We'll be back.
Great spot for lunch before or after a segway tour (City Segway right down the street) and away from the crowds.
Awesome service and food was a great value!
Nice decoration and ambiance, with just average food for a more than average price. Maybe we are spoiled by NYC but the food was just ok at prices that would suggest “above average” food in Manhattan.
Eh, maybe stick with happy hour as opposed to dinner. Food and service bland.
