CIRCA at Dupont Ratings and Reviews
Three previous visits were for brunch/lunch. This was my first dinner visit. Avocado toast has been delicious, and the seared tuna salad wasn't bad. Flatbreads don't have enough toppings, leaving you with a lot of bare crust. My pasta primavera was flavorless, and had virtually no vegetables at all, and what veg was there was limp and oily and over-cooked. I didn't taste them, but my family said the fries were limp and greasy. I keep going back because the location is convenient, but for the price, I think I have to look for something better.
the food was exceptional! We has the chicken salad-type tacos things. We each had the chicken beast w mashed potatoes and broccoli and shared the cheesecake. Everything was fantastic and perfectly sized portions, sans the cheesecake. We shared it. It was a little less than rememberable. The wine was superb!
The server was completely terrible, but thankfully, the manager kept stopping by to check in on us, so that was great!
The Brussels and Blue were surprisingly good. Definitely an appetizer win.
The Lobster Ravioli was a bit disappointing. The portion was very small (3 Ravioli. It was a bit spicy and the taste of lobster was barely a hint. The portion could have been due to this being Restaurant Week.
The Restaurant Week lunch was an excellent deal with great food. My friend said her brussel sprouts and blue cheese appetizer was one of the best dishes she's ever had. We had a nice table at the window. My one criticism is that the wait staff did not wait for us to finish one course before bringing out the next course, and at one point tried to grab my friend's plate while she was still clearly eating.
Despite arriving late, we were warmly greeted and seated. Our lovely waitress, Tosh, was knowledgeable and delightful. We both had the night's special, rib eye steak with lobster macaroni and cheese. Yum! We ordered our meat prepared two different ways and both were prepared perfectly. We also had caesar's salad and a nice bottle of wine. The prices are reasonable for DC. Tosh was great and we'll request her the next time we go back.
Drinks were tasty. The food came in really small portions. I ordered the lobster ravioli and it came with only 5 pieces -- didn't taste that great either. My date ordered the brick chicken -- also small portions, but it was delicious. The bruschetta appetizer, however, was an ample portion, and tasted very good.
Great overall experience and set the perfect tone for a family getaway weekend in DC with my wife and two teenagers!! Food was fantastic and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. Location was also perfect for us since we were staying at a nearby hotel and were using the Metro for transportation. Wish we would have had time to come back for another meal but was a short trip. Will definitely come back on next visit to DC!
