First time dining at Cibo Bistro . Had received mixed reviews but we had a lovely evening , great ambience , nice and quiet , server and drinks were amazing ! Food was great as well!
Can't say enough, food and service was fantastic.
I know we will be back and will be bringing our friends. FYI if you like octopus I highly recommend it beyond the world.
Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere.
Overall the experience was a little disappointing. The restaurant had run out of one of the mains listed on the menu by 7:30 pm and so we opted to try the specials of the night. While the appetizers were excellent, the mains were disappointing. The flavors of both dishes (a pasta and a fish) didn't work, and the fish was ever so slightly underdone.
Very nice small restaurant. Has the feeling of home cooking. Unfortunately we had the 5 course tasting menu and the steak was very fatty. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a steak with several inches of thick fat. Maybe that’s how it was supposed to be. I’m not sure I did my best to eat around it.
Lastly we were told we were going to have a slice of chocolate cake with ice cream. We had seen it a few times.
They switched it out for a singular cannoli which was, well it was a cannoli.
I hate writing negative reviews but this is my honest experience.
My partner and I went there for an anniversary dinner. It was our first time so we hoped for a good experience. Instead the duck breast was practically raw while the bread and peaches that accompanied the duck breast were black. My partner didn't like his food either, and he thought the ambiance and service were bad as well. When I left a not-so-great review elsewhere the owner responded saying that the wait staff were to be reprimanded. WHAT ABOUT THE CHEF? How about addressing the poor quality of the food? Not a word. We were not impressed.
Delicious as always!!
The room is perfect for a quiet dinner , wine selection is great and food is some of the best in Edmonton.
I very much enjoyed the Duck , Thanks for a great birthday dinner!!
5 course chefs choice tasting menu was awesome.
Great night. Had the tasting menu with pairings. Stuffed zucchini flower was amazing, both pasta dishes where WAY too salty, upmost hard to eat. Final entre the beef was also fantastic. Crowning glory the cannelloni . All pairings were good, could have used a refill for price point. Service was wonderful. Can’t decide if we will be back. Disappointed there are no open table points
Outstanding meal start to finish. Service was friendly and attentive. Lots of care taken with quality ingredients. Quiet little patio on a nice day!
All went well until the main course came- lamb chops which came cold and spoiled the special occasion everything else was great
We thought the food was fabulous even though it was not inexpensive. We were given a gift certificate by a relative but would splurge again for a special occasion.
Melissia greeted us and offered great advice about our menu options. She was attentive but provided plenty of privacy. Very tasty food.
First time diner. My wife and I had an amazing date night here, delicious food, great service! I will be recommending this place to all my friends.
Fabulous experience! I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu!!!
My Mom and I returned after a year or so and really enjoyed our dinner. The service was excellent and we really appreciated that the music was in the background and that it was mostly jazz.
The food was really, really good and I was glad my Mom tried some different dishes like the ricotta cakes. My only suggestion regarding the grilled octopus, which was very good, is that the serving is too large for an appetizer or perhaps you can offer two portion sizes.
One comment regarding “comfort” - either the chairs are too low for the table or the table is too high for the chairs. You feel like a kid sitting at the adults’ table.
Thank you for a very delicious dinner and we will return the next time I am in Edmonton.
Was looking forward to trying Cibo for the first time. We liked the room and the service was great. Had the octopus to start and it arrived cold, the server was great when I asked if the dish was supposed to be room temperature and said, it was absolutely supposed to be a hot dish and took it away to be replaced, I’m sure it was just the same plate warmed up and re arranged when it came back, the flavors were fine but not great.
We had a couple of pasta dishes for entrees, which also were fine, but not great, $30 for a small plate of pasta better be awesome and it wasn’t.
The desserts though were both really really good.
So, overall just a bit above average.
Would go back to coral 32 before Cibo again
Food was absolutely incredible. Our server Jordan was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable. Great experience. Highly recommend the tasting menu with wine pairings, pricey but so worthwhile.
Ashley our server was outstanding with her recommendations. Your octopus appetizer amazing taste and texture. Your halibut with mushroom entree was very tasty and grilled to perfection. A wonderful evening.
Regards the Gignac family
As always food was delicious, with very flavorful pasta dishes. We also had the halibut special and it was cooked perfectly. The panna cotta dessert very, very good. Just the right finish to the meal.
Excellent food...the tasting menu was fantastic! Would highly recommend.
Just a wonderful experience overall. The food is amazing and the staff are warm and attentive. The atmosphere is superb as is the quaintness. The chef and his wife are great people who truly capture the true essence of real Italian cooking. There has never been a disappointment. Just sad that Open Table won’ t honour their cheque’s for this owner!
What an amazing experience. All the food was simply amazing, from appetizer to salad to the pasta. Our server was also outstanding and the atmosphere is exactly what was needed for our dinner.
What a wonderful time! Thank you to the staff! Ashley was a wonderful server, the food was outstanding! Thank you to all the chefs for a wonderful experience. We will be back.
Great food and exceptional service.
Cibo is our favorite Edmonton restaurant - and has been since it opened. We don't get there as much as we'd like, but each time we do we remember why we love it! Great food, friendly service, really good wine list - you can't go wrong.
Excellent as always!
The food was unbelievable, but came out extremely slow, substantially slower than normal.
Great experience! Delicious food and beautiful place!
My boyfriend and I love dining here! It’s one of our favorite restaurants. Everything is always perfect. Service was fantastic and food was amazing!!
The food was amazing!!!! The best Italian in the city!!!
Great house-cured salumi, delicious pastas, a perfect rack of lamb, and the zeppole for desert. Awesome!
Fantastic Experience!!!! It was my first time dining there with my boss. The young man who greeted us at the door and ask to seat us was the same man who took care of us throughout the dining experience. He is very welcoming and a great host, he explained the menu and suggested few items, and yes they were delicious!
The food was artistically visually presented and matched how it tasted. Explosion of flavours! I really cant wait to go back and try other dishes in the menu. LOVE LOVE LOVE my experience. Thank you!
Beautiful meal and accommodating of my husband's garlic allergy.
Our server was excellent, very well informed & willing to take time to explain the menu & recommend wines. Hits & misses with the food, Arancini were very good as was the beef carpaccio . The risotto cakes were tiny & rather bland. The rabbit ragu, while a nice taste was just a serving of a dark fettuccini style pasta with hazelnuts & tiny pieces of rabbit (enough to maybe fill 2 teaspoons) sprinkled over. For the $28 I would have expected more rabbit. My understanding of a ragu suggests a more obvious sauce. The Rigatoni was very bland & the pasta very chewy. The Cappellacci was a big hit with the friend who ordered this. The Zeppole, while lovely & light inside & crispy on the outside were rather disappointing as we had expected (from the description on the menu) them to have a Limoncello Mascarpone filling. Apparently it's used in making the dough. While my friends & I had a lovely evening with good wine, overall I don't think the food justifies the high prices on the pasta dishes.
The food is always fantastic and their patio is one of the hidden gems in the city.
I enjoy Cibo's food, but was disappointed by the service. Our server was extremely awkward. We waited about 20 minutes for the other guests to arrive, and it took our server 15 minutes to actually come and ask if he could get us started with anything (and yes, we wanted drinks and appetizers). He was also extremely awkward throughout the meal. He never bothered to clear dirty plates away, brought too many glasses and cluttered up the table, and stood awkwardly behind the other guests while they were trying to take a photo. He also offered some awkward comments while we paid which we did not appreciate.
The positive - our server was pleasant and knowledgeable. Service was unusually slow (close to 30 minutes for desert...). Food presentation was bland and unimaginative, although not without flavour. I had the steak with mushrooms. No greens or vegetables of any description. Just steak and mushrooms (some of which were woody). My wife had the rabbit on pasta, which presented as an unappetizing brown ball of fettuccine in a deep bowl with a brown sauce and some stringy brown bits of rabbit on top. It was quite oily. Apart from the steak, portions were very small - our 11- and 7-year-olds each ate two pasta mains (one of the specials) before they felt full. Our desert order couldn't be filled, because they hadn't made sufficient custard for the evening. Although our end of the restaurant was quite cold, with members of our party having to wear coats, noise levels were reasonable. The other end of the restaurant appeared considerably louder. I had hoped for more, but was sorely disappointed (particularly in view of the prices). We won't be going back.
