Chop House Leith has brought an innovative blend of classic British steakhouse and cocktail bar to Constitution Street & is an exciting addition to the Shore’s vibrant culinary scene, brought to you by the team behind Monteiths & the White Horse Oyster Bar. Provenance is at the centre of the offer and the restaurant uses the finest beef sourced from artisan suppliers across Scotland. The meat is butchered on site and dry aged for up to 90 days to add flavour, increase tenderness & then the beef cooked on an open flame charcoal grill, specially designed to give a subtle smoky flavour. The Staff was really outstanding, looking forward for our questions and needs.
We had delicious meal there.
However that experience was worth its value, that place is quite expensive, I would go again just for special occasions.

I've been to the chop House several times and every time it is an absolute treat. Most recently however I went for breakfast and, while although a little steeper than some price wise, the food could not have been better and the staff were great. Also, free bloody Marys if you book in advance. What isn't to like?

Very possibly the best steak I’ve ever enjoyed. The chateubriande with selection of sauces and straw fries was cooked to perfection!

Excellent service and wine recommendations for each course. My wife didn’t particularly like one of the wines, and it was exchanged without hesitation.

Highly recommended. The most fantastic anniversary meal we’ve had in our 13 year marriage so far!

I went with a friend for the 2 rump and 2 sides fur £30. Very good deal. Bought starters (squid and scotch egg) and extra sides which were amazing. One of the best steaks I've had, and I've had some really good steaks. Really recommend.
Service was casual but friendly and attentive - did not feel rushed or had extras pushed at me as often happens with deal dining.

They accommodated the wine bottle we brought in for the Corkage Club, which was changed to a different day of the week. - The website is unclear on this.
We have been several times before, the food is always outstanding.
However our last steak meal we had a bit of a disparity to the usual standard we came to expect. Our steaks were overcooked. Now, this may not seem as a big of a deal, but it is. The taste we prefer on a premium steak was affected and we didn't enjoy the meal as much as we anticipated we would.
Granted, the manager did try his best, explained that the chef was adamant this was cooked correctly. He offered to cook us new steaks, but we thought it would be a bit of a waste to do so, but I think for the experience we should have taken him up on his offer.

As I said I am very pleased with the restaurant and I still recommend going here.

We were in the area and looking for a meat restaurant , we saw the good reviews on trip advisor and we decided to visit it.Almost all the choises for 2 or plus persons portions were deleted on the paperboard and we had only 3-4 choises for one person's portions otherwise 3- 4 choises for pieces near to 1 kg! Why to have on laderboard 20 choises and the 16 to be erased?Meal and service were satisfactory but prices were very very high.

Food was amazing and very well cooked , sides were of equal quality and something for everyone.
Choice of wines were excellent and beer was served in a frozen pint tankered ... amazing
The staff were very friendly and we were not left wanting for a thing.
The only thing I would be critical of was the amount of space afforded to customers to move around the restaurant between tables .
It all seemed a bit cramped and meant squeezing between tables to use the facilities and leaving after our meal.
That aside , thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely be back...

Went for Sunday brunch with a friend. I have recommended Chop House to many friends however this time I found the haggis and black pudding terribly dry. It appears to be grilled now and both myself and my friend unfortunately left both. I fed this back to the staff who said they would pass this onto the chef. It was a bit disappointing given all other times I have been the food quality has been outstanding.

The food was good, but we couldn’t wait to get out. The restaurant had the ambiance of All Bar One on a Saturday night. There were two large very loud parties in. They were up dancing, singing and in and out of the restaurant constantly. The staff were lovely and incredibly apologetic about the noise. However they could have perhaps focused on feeding them and getting them out of the restaurant rather than on serving them alcohol. We had finished our main course before they had even got their starters. It’s unlikely that we’ll be going back.

From the moment we walked in we had personal attention with friendly, knowledgeable staff. We went on our anniversary on a Tuesday when 'corkage club' was available so we took a very expensive bottle of red and paid £5 corkage - a great deal. We had been warned the portions were huge so sidestepped a starter in favour of sharing a dessert with a cheeky wee dessert wine. Would return in a heartbeat for another well-cooked quality steak.

Excellent- beautiful food and drinks - my partner said the cocktails were amazing ! All our company ordered rump steak at various cooking levels - all arrived as ordered at the same time .There is nothing to criticise here - but I would need to say that Carters/Miller or Gaucho pips it on the meat taste for me - but what a lovely meal and time we had - staff great and were happy to keep the birthday cake we brought with us - doing themselves out of a look at the sweet menu ! Tremendous

We booked online and went on a Wednesday when they offer 2 rump steaks with 2 sides for £30; the sides were great, but unfortunately our steaks were not cooked as we had asked. I had asked for mine to be medium, well-done, but nearer to the well-done, yet my steak was still very pink inside. It was also very tough, possibly just a bad cut?! Nonetheless, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were very friendly and polite. Would definitely recommend this restaurant, would just hope that you find the cut of meat better than we found it!

As always amazing. I order the fillet every time and it never lets me down. I love the Mac and cheese and the dripping chips are incredible. We normally have the squid and prawns to start with which again have been lovely. I do really miss the bacon and cabbage side though. We live out of town and it’s worth the traipse in for how tasty it is. It’s so fab it’s busy all the time or I’d probably go more often if I could get a table.

Obviously they are so busy trying to make their newly opened restaurant successful that they have forgot how to cook steak at Leith

1. Menu comes out and the price has jumped to £36 for a fillet steak and the menu has changed...Okay okay breathe and don't panic we'll get over it and all will be fine, then out they come.

2. Steak doesnt look the same... give it a go anyway... NOPE ITS COLD, NOWHERE NEAR AS TENDER AND OVER SALTED. £36 I could have done better with a £7 Fillet from Morrisons and a BBQ

3. Chips look like the potato has been stuck through a spiralizer and are also COLD. Unable to pick up with a folk so fingers it is in a classy restaurant, no clue what is going on here

4. My bernaise sauce had not been mixed properly so all herbs were stuck to the bottom of the tiny wee bowl and it had bubbled on the top even though this was also COLD.

£102 DINNER OF COLD STEAK AND FRIED SPIRALIZED TATTIE.

We love the Chop house, have done for years. It is our New Years Eve tradition to go for the best steak in Edinburgh and we visit for every special occasion (like tonight celebrating my partners 30th birthday after a few very hard weeks), as well as random trips when I'm hungry and can't decided what to eat. I'm truely disappointed and frankly upset this has happened. My partner is a fulltime student and I am on low income while studying part time and yet we adore this place so much that we save and treat ourselves when we can. Once a month at the very least. Is this what we are to expect now that you have branched out to more restaurants, lesser quality and higher costs?

The food was good but as we were having one main course only the wait of 70 mins from ordering to service was tedious and very frustrating. The staff did not seem to be receptive to any questions about the delay in service. Also the price of £3.50 for each accompaniment (fries, greens, mushrooms etc) was excessive considering the high price of the steak itself. We won’t be back.

I was here in Saturday night with my partner for his birthday. We eat out quite often and as much as we enjoy a steak it's quite rare that we go out for one. We both ordered sirloins with the usual sides, They were a nice big size and cooked to our liking they tasted amazing! The sides were really nice aswell. The staff were really friendly and very attentive (not in an annoying way) looking forward to dining in Chop House again.

Food was fantastic and not too pricey. We actually got a deal on our two individual rump steaks, which didn’t state on the menu, we didn’t realise about the deal in till we payed the bill at the end, unsure the reason behind that!?

One negative was that the food took 40 to 50 mins to be served and it was only once I asked about the service, that the food was served. This wasn’t ideal, because we had cinema timings to meet. There were people that come into restaurant after us and got there meal served before us.

But all in all, it was a 4 star service

Very good service. Waitress was very attentive and explained the different cuts of steak very well. Very good wine list. Excellent oysters as starter. Main was a rib-in-beef which was perfectly cooked and very tasty but our only complaint was that it was a bit fatty. We understand that this cut is flavoursome because of its marbled fat but this time the fat competed too much with the meat. Excellent otherwise.
