Chicken and Farm Shop
A short strut from Chicago’s Restaurant Row, Chicken and Farm Shop serves up free-range Amish birds, which are marinated overnight, steamed and then cooked over charcoal on a special rotisserie. Head Chef Dustin Musgrave uses the same birds to whip up comfort classics like chicken and waffles and a fried chicken sandwich. In a space taking inspiration from 1950s American general stores, guests enjoy a fun, casual setting while dining on indulgent eats and a rare taste of rotisserie in Chicago.

Absolutely the best chicken dinner we have ever had! My husband and I had the complete chicken dinner. The chicken was moist and seasoned perfectly. While the chicken was great the Brussels sprouts were the absolute best we have ever had!
The chicken is amazing, but the dessert is worth sticking around for (something I rarely say). The service is not ideal, but certainly acceptable. One of my favorite places in the city.
Great find for our last minute dinner choice. Delicious. Would definitely return!!
It was my Birthday!!
excellent service, super food, sexy vibe.
The location was really neat and interesting but the service was a little bizarre. No one checked on us when we arrived, or asked if we had questions when we sat, I had to sort of flag people down or make eye contact to people standing around which was strange for food service. The entire experience was like that. Waiter never came back but was drinking a coffee in the corner. They were friendly when I did but seemed like lack of attention. It didn’t ruin my experience but we did find it peculiar how little they approached and even when they did they just stood there and didn’t ask or engage. I had to ask if someone was our waiter because he didn’t introduce or ask if we had questions. The food was good but it was lacking in the attention to detail of service. I’m outgoing enough that I can drive the conversation and make eye contact but everyone’s attitude was that way (waitstaff, managers, support) and it shows that it’s not a priority in the culture to give a memorable (good) experience but only focus on decor and food...With that said the decor was really great and cute the food was decent.
I probably would have gone back and taken people just for the novelty but we said even while there ...there are other places I’d try before coming back. That probably would have been a different outcome if the service more attentive and personable.
Great food and service!
First time here we had a below average waiter, but like always the food was great!
I love Chicken Shop. Every time I visit Chicago (or London), I make sure to include at least one visit to this place. Everything is delicious.
I came to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends. I had made a reservation but still had to wait 10mins or so, not a big deal. They brought the food out quickly. They even gave me TWO desserts for my birthday which was amazing and unexpected!
Nashville hot chicken was authentic and tasty. Nice and hot!
Really neat place. Great chicken sandwich. Sides and beer pricey. Got a complimentary apple pie. Very good.
Great food and service for 12 people
perfect for a group of friends to relax and retire for an evening
Always recommendable and delish. Always bring my friends here. Always a HIT
Super cute place the food was great and loved the G&T. The hot chicken sandwich is amazing!
Fantastic food and great service! The food is also a great value for the price. I’ll definitely be back. My friend said it was the best chicken and waffles she’s ever had!
Great food and great service! I had the mushroom burger that was the lunch special for the day. Delicious!
The menu is very simple and they treasure themselves on making chicken. I had the roasted chicken and it was so good, I forgot I was there with a date and kept to eating the food over conversation. For us, we shared the half chicken that they offered with a side and it was more than enough food for us.
Great food. Fun atmosphere but a bit too dark. Good service. Definitely would return!
The fried chicken sandwiches here are so good!! Only thing I wish it wasn’t so dark it’s a little hard to see
The worst service! What’s the point of making a reservation if they don’t honor your reservation with a table. A server greeted us, we told him we had a reservation and he walked away and never came back. Five min later another gentleman came to greet us and he said our only option was the counter, because all the tables were taken. Buuuut, I made a reservation? that’s all I have .
Super excited for this lunch!
We took the counter, ate our lunch and halfway through the manager came by to offer our first round of drinks and dessert on the house for the inconvenience. Ok, things are looking up! But of course we get the bill and our drinks are on there. Server, again just .
Obviously, customer service is not a priority here.
By far the best friend chicken I’ve had and the chicken and waffles are killer!
Had a great Sunday brunch at Chicken & Farm Shop. Four of us went and we split two orders of chicken & waffles (plus blood marys and mimosas) and the food was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The restaurant has a very cozy vibe and was much less busy than the Allis downstairs, which was nice for us to all be able to carry on a conversation.
love love love love love love love underrated love
Our second visit, loved the food the first time, disappointed on this visit. Service was slow on a Saturday. Drinks took a while for a not too busy brunch. We ordered a chicken bbq sandwich to split, Brussels sprouts and mac and cheese. The sandwich was dry, if we hadn't been told cole slaw on was it I wouldn't have known. Dry. The Brussels sprouts had a burnt taste. Loved them on the previous visit. Mac & cheese had no taste. No one came to our table till the check was presented.
The food was good but came out a little cold.
I arrived in the afternoon with my sister -inlaws.
The place was adorable and we couldn't wait to try the Original chicken sandwich and brussel sprouts.
Delicious food , We will be back!
The food is very good. The service is excellent!! I am looking forward to going back.
Chicken and waffle was really good. Chicken Benedict was also very good. Both were huge portions. The Brussels sprouts were out of this world!
Food was excellent, the staff was great, we were seated right away.
The chicken sandwich and the Brussel sprouts are the BEST!!!!! Enjoyed my visit here. Customer service was fantastic - will definitely return.
This place is definitely a fav, having become my go to spot when I have out of town guests. As a vegetarian I typically order the veggie chili (it’s so yummy) and Mac n cheese, but my friends typically enjoy the chicken and waffles dish.
The service was lackluster. Even though the place was nearly empty, it took a while to be seated even though I had a reservation. The server messed up my friend’s order, as well.
Everyone is great ! The food is the best and their selections are for both vegans or meat heads.
It seems like each time I go the experience gets worse.
- One of the cooks was eating off the line; this turns my stomach on so many levels.
- Water bottles need to be cleaned
- It was a slow Saturday of course so much going on in the city and raining but the service was lack luster. Mind you they had enough staff to cover each table.
- Food: We ordered the Rotisserie Chicken Meal w/(2) sides. The chicken was the only thing hot on the platter. Mac and cheese bland even the bread crumbs on top just dry. Sprouts were horrible as if they have been reheated from night before and tossed in sugar dressing. Let’s not forget about the dry corn bread and rock for a biscuit😑. The Maple butter couldn’t even bring it back to life. We tried to make things better with dessert and ordered the apple pie🤢. Canned apples smothered in brown sugar; the crust was so hard the ice cream didn’t even melt. Costco serves a better apple pie and can get a whole pie for the price of the slice ordered.
Overall the experience was pretty much a waste especially with so many other options to choose from within the area. I feel some updated training is need for entire staff and just revamp menu. But then again with the number of covers within the time of our reservation I’m sure people aren’t into the food like before. Honestly I wish I could’ve gotten a refund and grabbed dinner from someplace else.
Enjoyed my son's 19th b'day brunch with family. We will absolutely return to this establishment in the future. I am a vegetarian and left the brunch just as satisfied as my meat eating family members. I will say it is VERY dark inside so of you wear readers, bring them! I almost couldn't read the menu.
The chicken and waffles is excellent so are their alcoholic shakes. However it is VERY loud and you might struggle to even hear your waiter.
