Chicago Cut Steakhouse
Always a wonderful experience each time we dine here.
I requested window seating and I was sat right at the entrance where people continuously walked past, I felt pressured to hurry and order. I asked my steak to be medium well and it was medium rare on the inside.
Beautiful meal at a beautiful restaurant with a beautiful view on a beautiful night with a beautiful wife!
As always Chicago Cut was on point. The staff is beyond attentive and knowledgeable. The food mouth watering delicious. Plus great views of the city and river as well.
Great, polite staff
The food was good and service also until waiter gave false info on a food item on the menu and he knew he had messed up. He should’ve been trained better. We spoke to manager and he was very rude and not caring. Manager told me and my sister we didn’t know what we were talking about and started raising his voice us when we were exposing our issue to him. He was acting like as if we were trying to get over on the bill which was not true at all. We had plenty money to blow. I will never go back because of the way we were talked down on and treated and he called us liars. Food is good but I will some folks in there are prejudice..
Old school service (that’s a good thing)
Rodney was our server and he LOVED his job. He made our experience even better. We were so pleased at how well oiled this operation was. Food was outstanding. My only complaint was that we couldn’t finish all of our dinner!!
Great! Amazing ambience
Absolutely delicious meal Filet mignon with Asparagus tips and Crab cake appetizers. Also had Scallops which were delicious as well. Service was great and enjoyed a great bottle of Wine.
Dinner was delicious! Our steaks were amazing!! On the other handle the tables are extremely close together and crowded together. I did not bother us but I could see it being a negative for some people. Our server was not very friendly. He never explained the menu or have any recommendations. Just not the service I would expect for a lovely restaurant like that.
Crab cake and Lobsterescargot were our starters. We shared the dry aged bone in ribeye between the two of us with asparagus and sauteed spinach in the side. Every item was cooked perfectly. The prices are also reasonable when the quality of the food, service and decor factored in. Dont hesitate its really good
Our waiter was very professional and knowledgable, but this place was not worth the price. The space is crowded, they hustle you in/out, and the food was NOT worth the money.
The atmosphere was wonderful, from the time my wife and I walked in, until we left. Everything was perfect!
They pack way too many tables into the room than they should for a high-end ($$$$) restaurant. I do not get the same cramped feeling from places like The Palm or Capital Grille. Waiter was somewhat condescending; my wife and I came to that conclusion independently. "Do you want over $100 or over $200 per bottle wine?" I get up-selling, but it leaves a bad taste.
of course, excellent steaks, perfectly prepared -- great service -- very pleasant and efficient and certainly a large service team -- always attentive and ready to serve without being intrusive. A High Priced steak house -- worth the money --
Steak has burnt and way over salted. The lobstercargot was very good. Service was ok but I've definitely had better. A bit overpriced for what you get.
You would go there in any days of October when you completed your Chicago Marathon if you stayed at Westin River North. Yes, you should be there to eat as my recommendation.

Good food as always, but the wine suggestion from the waiter was more expensive that I had imagined. I share that responsibility.
We had been to Chicago Cut once before for Thanksgiving and had a pretty decent meal - a Turkey Day special, but wanted to try out the classic dining options they have. The lasting memory from our first trip was how close the tables were together, but we were thinking that might've been a Thanksgiving only thing, to squeeze more people in. This time was no different.
We were greeted nicely and waited at the bar for our table - bartenders were great, very attentive and the drinks were wonderful
Once we were seated everything went down hill. Our waiter was obviously very busy and it showed in his service. Interactions were brief, bordering on rude. Our food came quickly. My steak was good, my wife ordered a seafood combo (meant for an appetizer) as her meal. It was very small and was missing one of the elements - would've been nice to be informed how truly small this combo was (literally bit size of each element (crab, lobster, shrimp) - oyster was missing.
I ordered scallops on top of steak and those never arrived. When I asked the waiter about it, he acted surprised they hadn't come out and then just said he would remove them from the bill.
Sides: We ordered the brussels sprouts with bacon (delicious) and the whipped potatoes (very boring for steak house potatoes).
The dinner was fine, but with all the great steak options in Chicago, not sure I will return here.
Very loud and tight, trays surrounding table unable to move
Good food. Our waiter was very attentive but never introduced himself officially and there was no real chatter on his end or explanations/recommendations- which was a miss for me. Super loud and energetic atmosphere, which I personally don’t mind but just an FYI that if you’re looking for quite and romantic, this is not the place for you. The view of downtown from wherever you sit in the main dining area is gorgeous at night!
Did not honor our 8:15 pm reservation had to wait 45 minutes. Overall it was worth it
Up front service was slow. I had to request a different table as the one originally given was situated on a bench that was split and very uncomfortable. Food was great, although I did not like the digital wine menu as it was clumsy to navigate.
The filet was amazing along with the mushrooms and creamed spinach; however, it was clear they were trying to turn over the tables quickly. Service was polite but rushed. We got the bill before dessert and immediately following a full pour of wine. Our salad order was forgotten but made up with a comp-ed dessert witch was delish (key lime). The waiter was so friendly but did check three times if card was in the bill...we were still drinking our wine.
Really amazing food but they should be more considerate of not treating their patrons as cattle to move in and out.
Brian went above and beyond to ensure our Mother had a wonderful birthday dinner. The food was excellent.
Our server was Sheldon and he was awesome! Our first time there and he made our experience perfect. Great service!!
It was our anniversary, the food was absolutely phenomenal, but the service was terrible. Waiter came too our table 5 times 1st was to great us 2nd was to take our drink order 3rd was our meal order and the 4th time he asked how were our meals and to get us another glass of wine and another drink. Didn’t come back for over 30 minutes and we were drink less during that time. Another waiter brought a special dessert which was very much appreciated. When our waiter finally returned for the 5th time I just asked for the check, paid, and we left. Easily could have stayed for the last round of drinks. And then moved to the bar, instead it kinda killed the mood of the night so we left to another restaurant for an after dinner drink
Top notch, classic but contemporary. Excellent meat. Beautiful location and beautiful space. Expensive but worth it.
CC continues to be excellent, premier steakhouse in Chicago. Great for friends, great for business. Our server, Dennis, did a great job and was very attentive. Thanks.
Always great service, drinks, and food. Recommendations are appreciated and delicious.
Just perfect! Awesome food and great staff. Worth the price.
Server was great and issue was out of his control.
Food - sooo disappointing and quite shocking for Chicago cut. We have been for dinner here soooo many times.
Steaks were not cooked as asked. Then my steak was over cooked.
My husbands steak was simply not a good piece of meat. When it came back from kitchen it was covered in oil. The person that brought it out from kitchen didn’t even say sorry ! Instead ... “is this up to your par “ .... we were taken back !
We love Chicago cut and have been many times. This was so disappointing and something that I would be remiss not to share.
High-quality food & service with a casual tone. Menu is interesting without getting too weird. We went there for brunch, so our group enjoyed a combination of breakfast- and lunch-type items— all were excellent. Highly attentive and helpful service, willing to mix and match from the menu. Delightful view overlooking the Chicago River. The taste of the complimentary beignets is surpassed only by that of the jam accompanying them,
I am giving this a 2 star mostly based on the customer service. When I go to a steakhouse and spend $300 on dinner, I am expecting a great level of service. This place was clearly understaffed. My server was so busy attending to an excess amount of tables, he slipped up on nearly every visit to our table. This is only a summary. I notified him immediately that I was celiac (gluten free). And we waited an eternity to order he asked if we were ready, I said “yes” and he left to do other things. Then came back and said “oh I thought you said no.” He asked again about food allergies at the 2nd course. He had to be reminded after entree was delivered to bring the wine (which was ordered at the beginning). It took a very long time for the ordering and getting the check. The food was as expected, but not excellent, for the price.
The noise level was so loud my ears were ringing for days. The table next to us dropped the F bomb more than a Tarrantino movie. Thought we were going to a nice place and it turned out to be an expensive sports bar. Good thing the service and food was good. Not worth it. Won't be back.
Always great food and service. Way too loud…
My family and I learned of the restaurant from friends of ours. During a recent return trip to Chicago we made plans to visit the restaurant. We visited on a Saturday night and restaurant and bar areas were packed with patrons and there was an energy in the air (likely due to all the wait staff buzzing around!). The service was AMAZING and the attention to detail fantastic. So much so that at one point a guest had dropped a fork on the floor and it was scooped up and replaced in the blink of an eye! (Seriously true!) The food was perfectly prepared and flavorful. Their spirits and wine offerings are expansive so plan to spend some time reviewing the menu.
That said, my most disappointing moment was the corkage arrangement. The corkage fee of $25 is reasonable although I have paid less at other restaurants in Chicago. The unfortunate experience is that the restaurant permits only one bottle of wine per table. Which, for a party of five, is a glass of wine per person. (Granted, a nit for most folks, however, key for me.) I understand the economics of maintaining a wine cellar, however, at a minimum, consideration should be given to the number of patrons at the table. I enjoy bringing wine from my wine cellar and make every effort to bring wines that are not on the restaurant's wine list. The restaurant's approach was a disappointment. There are a number of restaurants in Chicago which offer a corkage fee per bottle, which has generally been my experience. Except for this one disappointing circumstance, for every other consideration I highly recommend visiting the restaurant.
The Lobsterscargot will change your life! I've eaten at a lot of steakhouses and this is so unique and truly a treat to your taste buds. Don't go to Chicago Cut without ordering it.
I would recommend coming here if you are planning on purchasing steak. Beautiful view of the city.
